I appreciate you answering. And the verse you shared does seem to suggest that an individual can lose their salvation. In John 6:37-39, Jesus says that the Father has given to Him a people that He will raise up and will lose none of them.
How do you reconcile these 2 seemingly opposite ideas given that both are in scripture?
jesus is talking about the apostles
“Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way:
that the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.”
John 18:8-9 KJV
“
While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but
the son of perdition; ( Judas )
that the scripture might be fulfilled.”
John 17:12 KJV
The old testement foretold when zgod would choose only a remnant ofnisrael the rest would be blinded because they kept refusing to hear Gods word . We aren’t then we are in this group that those chosen men preached to
Most would be blinded because they refused Gods judgements in the ot but a remnant would believe and carry the gospel to all people offering them salvstion
we aren’t these
“him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly;
not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.”
Acts 10:40-41 KJV
We are in this group
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
John 3:16 KJV
and the gospel is what draws all people to Jesus
“And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.”
John 12:32 KJV
Jesus was given all people not the chosen and righteous because there aren’t any righteous apart from him but
the sinners and heathen who make up the whole world
“I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me,
Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, And the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; Thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, When his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.”
Psalm 2:7-9, 12 KJV
God foretold of the first generetion of the church it was all written long before
“And
he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a
stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. ( only a small chosen remnant would believe ) And
many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.
Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples. And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.
Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, ( Jesus and the early church who did all those wonders and signs) which dwelleth in mount Zion.”
Isaiah 8:14-18 KJV
“
how shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord,( Jesus preached the gospel )
and was
confirmed unto us by them that heard him; ( his apostles and disciples then witnessed the gospel to others )
God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, ( God was witnessing the truth of the gospel with them by powerful wonders and signs )
according to his own will?
…..And again, I will put my trust in him. And again,
Behold I and the children which God hath given me.”
Hebrews 2:3-4, 13
if you read the old terrement you’ll find tbat the old covenant promised to blind israel but to save a remnant and send them out to everyone with salvstion
“Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, and said unto them,
Thus it is written, and thus
it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
and
that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things.”
Luke 24:45-48
There is a chosen group but they are the old covenant remnant chosen to be his witnesses to all people that’s why everyone can hear thier eotness still today in the Bible God chose then to be witnesses of the gospel so everyone could be invited and saved if they believe the witness of the gospel
“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and
ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judæa, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
Acts 1:8 KJV
tbey we’re always appointed and ordained to do that that’s not about salvstion this is
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
Mark 16:15-16 KJV
The apostles are different They established the gospel on the earth and God was with them
zone verse saying Gods going to save us if we believe eant nullify the others telling us what he said about salvstion
grace is something we receive when we come to Jesus and don’t reject him it ends les us to do the things we couldn’t before he healed us
gotta believe what he said it’s life eternal
