John146....Some people have the strange idea that god is the bible! That's caused by idol worship.And that is rooted in pride...The love of self above all else.
We need to be careful about that.

The Bible is paper and ink. Jesus is not. The Bible is a physical object, and not a Man.

I heard a quote attributed to Martin Luther that the Bible is the cradle and Jesus is like the baby in the cradle.

The bible is the only revelation we need from God.
Also, if the Bible is the only revelation we need from God, you should tell the creationists who talk about 'fine tuning' that they don't need to talk about that.

Romans 1

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

The Bible, I Corinthians 14, teaches that 'when you come together....everyone of you hath a psalm....a revelation....Let all things be done unto edifying.' It continues on to let the prophets speak two or three and let the other judge. If a ___revelation___ comes to one sitting by, let the first hold his peace, for ye may all prophesy one by one.....

This is in the Bible. Should we believe this teaching and allow for this to happen in our assemblies? or should we hold to a position that scripture does not teach-- that the Bible is the 'only revelation we need from God' and disobey the teaching of scripture in I Corinthians 14?
Yep, all from God's word and share it with the group.

This is true because it's in the Bible, the word of truth.

a preacher going to India isnt a false preacher just because God may have told him to go to India.
I'm skeptical of "God told me to do this or that. . ."

As far as preaching, we don't need a special revelation, Christ said "Go into all the world and preach the gospel." That's already in the Bible.

Let me ask you, when you got saved, did you put your trust in Jesus Christ or where you trusting what Scripture has said about Jesus Christ? Or both? Can the two be separated?

The things described in 1 Corinthians 14 do not all come from Scripture. A psalm may be one of the 150 recorded in Scripture... or something spoken in the moment for the moment. A prophecy is given in the moment. A song may be prepared beforehand, but likely is not merely a quotation of Scripture. If you insist that all are direct quotations of Scripture, you deny that they are gifts given by the Holy Spirit which is the whole gist of the chapter.
