That sounds just like an old prosperity doctrine con. I've been hearing it over 40 years. Somewhere they may have said something like "Your gifts and love offerings will return tenfold." just before asking for tithes offerings and donations. Many have gotten rich that way. Mainly Televangelists, book and recording offers etc. I even saw a guy a couple of times hocking hankies or napkins, on late night TV, with a hand traced upon it saying that spiritually it's just like I laid hands upon whatever ails you. "Only $?9.99, tonight! And remember your gift is tax deductible."

Dung. False preacher!
Or when they claim that we absolutely NEED a certain teaching "from the Lord" and that it can be ours for three small payments of $29.99. I have really unkind thoughts about such people.

I found my spiritual father through his website that gave everything away and asked for nothing in return. All his messages and books were provided free of charge, not even shipping was asked. And this was before .mp3 downloads. When you ordered a message you received CDs or DVDs in the mail. I then asked him to visit our home (he was on the other side of the continent). He sent two men he trusted to me and our household (by that time we were meeting in each other's homes). With permission, one man, who was prophetic, told me things about myself issues I hadn't shared with anyone. God was just showing me that there was a grace with that man I hadn't experienced before. Shortly after their visit, the man, himself, came to our house, on his own dime and time (my expression). He has been my friend ever since and one who watches over my soul.

You do not have conversations with God. It is a voiceless voice it says. If people here a voice, then they must be talking to the evil one.
How sad that you believe this. No doubt you were taught this and so never considered the alternative: that God actually deals with us personally. It's amusing how "It's a personal relationship with Jesus" but He can never talk to us personally. Nevertheless, you seem set in your ways. Perhaps I am wrong and I am taking your post out of context. I'll wait to read your response before I decide to ignore you.

Did you believe the Bible on it's own? Or did you believe it because The Holy Spirit revealed to you that it was truth?
Many thousands of people have read Bible verses and not believed them.
1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

It is a voiceless voice that guides you, in life and spirit. It gives you strength and courage, and you decide the right things from that. You know it is right, you feel it. You lose anger, you lose fear, and you follow your faith. Personal expirience, and it is also described in the bible directly somewhere, and indirectly many places. You must not conflate it with how his relationship with God was, we are mere mortals, so different for us. Jesus was a part of God on a mission to save mankind, we are only spoken to in our hearts by God. A guiding light. If you hear voices, you might need to talk to a priest or some other professionals That might be a problem.

My question is this is there really any need for extra-Biblical revelation?
Depends on what you mean by extra-Biblical revelation. I can say yes or no to that depending on what you mean.

I see what you are saying. And yes, that is how I am led by the Spirit. I don't know if it is audible or not to others but it, to me, is as real as anything I have heard.

I do disagree that we cannot expect the Father to deal with us as He dealt with Jesus. Through the covenant of sonship we are not merely mortals. We are made part of the begotten. Corporately, we represent Christ in the earth, His flesh and His bones. He received all He has from the Father. Now, He gives what He has to us by the Holy Spirit.

Can the two be separated? I love and honor the Bible because it came from God. It's His word.

yes but no where does it say the bible is god...or that the bible became god.
Who spoke to Abraham and told him these things? God or scripture? Scripture foresaw and preached...but yet, it was God back in Genesis speaking with Abraham. Hmmmmm....

Galatians 3
7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

a preacher going to India isnt a false preacher just because God may have told him to go to India. He or she is false preacher if they are preaching stuff that actually isnt in the Bible. For all we know they might already be Indian and just got told to go to the next region.

duh. God doesnt stop people from preaching the gospel all over the world to people who might speak another langauge. But if they are saying that Jesus Christ DIDNT come in the flesh, or to worship another God, then yes they are false.

The faith has been 'once delivered to the saints' so if someone wants to add something to the message of salvation or change Biblical doctrine, I don't agree with that. The doctrines of the Christian faith have been revealed.

God can also reveal to individuals what they are called to do in terms of ministry or other things. The Spirit can speak to people, like the Spirit spoke to Philip to give him direction regarding the Ethiopian eunuch.

That being said 'revelation' does not seem to be used in a very narrow sense in scripture. No man knows the Father, but the Son and whomsoever the son reveals him, according to Jesus. Everyone who knows the Father received revelation.

God can open one's eyes and give understanding and revelation regarding a doctrinal truth that is already in scripture. At the same time, I am careful of those who claim a 'revelation' that is actually a poor misrepresentation of scripture that contradicts Biblical doctrine. For example, if someone claimed a 'revelation' that God lost all rights of access to planet earth after Adam fell, I can point to 'The earth is the LORD's and the fullness thereof.'

And regarding revelation:

I Corinthians 14:26 says, "...When you come together, each one has a hymn, a lesson, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation...." (ESV).

That chapter mentions 'revelation' in two other verses as something that can be shared in church meetings to edify others. Paul's instructions require that the church allow someone to speak in tongues and someone to interpret, to allow prophets to prophesy two or three, and if someone sitting by receives a revelation, for the first to hold his peace, for ye may all prophesy one by one.
amen revelation is to understand things already written in a better or more clear way the apostles like Paul revealed what was in scriptire beforhand

“Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭26:22-23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

he was making known things like this that we’re written beforehand for a quick example

“And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭49:6

So it becomes evident his revelation that Jew and gentile are of the same body and partakers of the same gospel

“How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3:3, 5-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

He wasn’t creating a different gospel as som many claim he was revealing that Gentiles were brought into the kingdom through the gospel being sent into all the world

You should be careful about making assertions like this, lest you bear false witness of God or blaspheme.

How did Moses hear the voice at the burning bush? Elijah heard a 'still small voice.' Is there any place in the Bible where it says God's voice is inaudible, or is always inaudible?

We discuss the Bible. We teach the Bible. We share out of the Bible.
Why do you need the other people to share with you out of the Bible or to teach to you out of the Bible if the Bible is all you need.

If the Bible is all you need, you don't need the church, you don't need breakfast, you don't need a tooth brush, and you don't need a job.

If the Bible is all you need, you don't need faith. But the Bible teaches we are saved by faith. Hmmm. Maybe this 'Bible is all we need' mantra isn't quite right. Where does the Bible teach that?

You not understanding my position. The bible is the only revelation we need from God. We teach the bible. We discuss the bible to build each other up in the things of the Lord. We stay within the parameters of the bible.

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

The Bible, I Corinthians 14, teaches that 'when you come together....everyone of you hath a psalm....a revelation....Let all things be done unto edifying.' It continues on to let the prophets speak two or three and let the other judge. If a ___revelation___ comes to one sitting by, let the first hold his peace, for ye may all prophesy one by one.....

This is in the Bible. Should we believe this teaching and allow for this to happen in our assemblies? or should we hold to a position that scripture does not teach-- that the Bible is the 'only revelation we need from God' and disobey the teaching of scripture in I Corinthians 14?
