Good for you?

The birth story is important in that it testifies that He is God’s only begotten Son..not that we need to celebrate a birthday for Jesus. That story can be taught over and over again and not just on one day of the year.

Why would you celebrate the birth of an immortal God? Who even now is sitting at the right hand of the Father.
Because he became flesh and dwelt among us. He didn't have to you know.
Maybe that's not such a big thing to you but to me its huge, and celebration worthy. The very definition of grace, that God would condescend to dwell among us in human-ness as one of us. How wonderful how fantastic.

Well good for you some people don't have that luxury. Some of us have to have a job so that we can provide you know normal stuff like food and shelter, and we find it necessary to teach the full council of scripture to our family.
She was talking about her unsaved family members. I’m not sure why that bothers you.

Sure..but why did He do it in the first place?

Because of his wonderful loving grace. What a thing to celebrate is there anything worth celebrating more than this?

I guess I’ve never thought about celebrating God coming down from heaven to save me from my sins by dying on the cross for me. I’ve been exceedingly thankful..but celebratory...?

Just talking about it makes me celebratory.

Think about this. He is coming again this time to collect us to himself. That will be the greatest celebration ever.
Until then I will celebrate that his birth into this world was the begining of our salvation, until it's completion when he returns. Amen.

Nonsense.
The fulfillment of all old testament prophecy, the coming of the Lord in the flesh, not relevant. If it's not why the angels delivering the news to Shepard's in the field, why the wise men travelled hundreds of miles. Why did Herod seek to have him killed as a child? Why bother with all the details in the scriptures?
You try to spin that the times looked forward to for generations is irrelevant. They prophecied , and prayed for and placed their hope in for many generation.
Just as the saints of old look for the coming of the Lord so also do we to his return.
We have picked a day.
a day has been picked to appease man's need for a day off.
All public holidays honour man.
God didn't say "on this day Jesus will be born and we'll think of a name to explain it".
Why did God instruct the Israelites not to engage in the idol worship before they entered Canaan ?

If these are your points of contention, thou projects. I don't think they had public days off when the day was picked, plus Jesus is a man. Are you thinking Christmas is idolatry?

He knows nothing of church history.
We have written documentation of Christians celebrating Christmas as far back as 336 ad.

Jesus is man ?
Really?
I thought that was rather obvious.
I'm not thinking that Xmas is idolatry, because it is idolatry.
Do atheists celebrate the birth of Jesus ?

Yes, Jesus born on this earth was indeed a man.
How is worshipping Jesus idolatry?
Who cares what atheists do? They protest any public display of Christmas, or even saying merry Christmas. They also drive cars and go to work. What does it matter what they do? They oppose Christmas the same as you.

Who ever you are around , if the Holy Spirit fills your heart to preach , then do so...
Even our actions show are faith in many ways...

I do not get out much , I do not really mix with people , I suffered with severe mental illness for over 35 yrs of my life , and God is healing me , so I really only have my children/grandchildren around me and my church members...

I just speak Gods truth to those who He has given me , or those who He crosses my path with...

I do that, but I'm not going to forego opportunities to take advantage of celebration season and celebrate Jesus. So come Christmas, I'm going to celebrate Jesus.

again.

Dear athiests. Look we know you like pretending to be christian but come on knock it off. If you hate Jesus so much why not go to your own forum and celebrate hating Jesus on there. Then us christians wont spoil your fun.

This thread expires on Jan 31. On that day I am taking the Christmas trees down and putting away the decorations.

so being a Christian, and because I don't celebrate Xmas, are you calling me an atheist?
