Amen! And, I second that emotion. I had thought it was related to site tinkering
around the chat app. Who knew it was all Microsoft's fault? LOLOLOLOLOLOL

Okay, while I don't like the layout, I FINALLY figured out how to install firefox on my chromebook and my emoji reactions look like they are back!
My usual search engine is google chrome, which forced updated and ever since stopped showing them.
Guess when I'm signing in to CC I have to remember to open firefox.

Chromium is an open-source browser developed by Google.
'Open source" means that the source code is public to the world. "Open source" in plain English means "communism". :LOL:
"we have nothing to hide and here's our ideas out in the open".

So, a lot of other companies, have taken this open source project called Chromium and changed it and tweaked it according to their companies' model.
Microsoft has done this with Edge.

Firefox is another open source competing project which traces its origins to Netscape.
They use a completely different design and engine.

Hope I un-Greeked this a bit for you. :D

I just checked to make sure my emoji functions were back. I noticed they worked earlier. My computer had turned off and I had to reboot to turn it back on and then I tried and reacted with a happy face to someone's post. Previously I could only "like" it or nothing. Using Edge.

I do get the open source part of it all. But how browsers work is kind of like looking
at the guts of a TV or radio. I see all the wires and nodes and dials and I realize the
knee bone is connected to the hip bone but beyond that, once it gets into the ethers?
Out in the ethers I am lost in outer space. My inner space cannot relate. LOL

But thank you for explaining! You have helped a lot of us understand better than we would have otherwise...

I just opened Edge to see if mine would work but they do not...

@Mem can you post a screenshot of your Edge version? Or take a 'Snip it' image with the app if you're using windows?

Top right corner of Edge there are 3 dots. Click on the dots.
Then go to Help and Feedback
Then click on About Microsoft Edge.

On the new page that comes up, take a 'Snip it' of the version.
Here's mine and no reactions work ... yet.

It will force download but don't do it manually until the grace period expires and then it will force install.
For now leave it like that until it installs by itself and then all your reactions will break.

So as a long time Firefox user I don't really have any skin in the game, but...

What was this update supposed to do? What feature was it supposed to provide or what bug was it supposed to fix?

In other words, what was the reason for this update that caused so much trouble? What were they hoping to accomplish here?

With new technology, always be a procrastinator. Let the eager early adopters run into the bugs which have no fixes yet.

By the time you come along and use the new technology, they will have fixes and you can Google the problem to find exactly how to fix it.

This applies to everything from the latest phone to the latest Windows version to the latest car.

I think they did a major upgrade to Javascript engine from what i've been reading and when you do that, it will also cause a lot of other major side effects since it's a core upgrade not a patch.

Also, this is 100% correct.
When customers ask me if they should upgrade their iPhones at work i tell them: NO, Don't do it. Be the last one to get the upgrade after they have tested with the general population who are the guinea pigs now.
