For a single in waiting (trusting God for a spouse) how do you wait in a way that shows that you are truly waiting on God? How do you wait in purity or from a stand point of purity? How do you encourage yourself in the Lord to keep going? How do you deal with sexual urges? Are there friends you have and share things with that make the journey easier? Do you have mentors or brethren in Christ you share your worries, struggles, etc.

And finally... How have you really been? Or how are you presently, waiting and all?🙂

I just keep living, do what is right, find things to enjoy in life, and keep on going.

One could argue that third part is the most important. You have to keep reminding yourself of the things that are enjoyable. It helps you to not focus so much on the things you want but don't have right now. Turns out there is a reason the Bible talks so much about being thankful.

Hey miss Abigail, great questions!

I used to think of myself as waiting on God for a husband, and honestly I was miserable. I had built marriage up so much in mind, it was almost like an idol. I got so depressed waiting on God to bring about what I felt He "owed" to me, because marriage is a great thing, right?

Sure, marriage is great but it's not the reason I'm here on earth. God asked me what I would do if I never found the right man to marry, and I realized I was putting all my earthly hopes into a dream that may never come to pass. I couldn't live like that anymore, and asked Jesus to be my everything, marriage or not.

I'm SO much happier now.... I focus my time and attentions on what I know God has called me to. I'm still very much open to marriage but it's no longer my primary goal or focus. I'm trying to seek my place in God's earthly kingdom and trust that if marriage is in His plan then it will come to pass. Of course that will require some effort and discernment on my part. But I'm just saying that kingdom living brings its own joy and purpose, whatever gets added to that is an awesome bonus 😎.

As far as keeping thoughts and actions pure, I try to focus on what God DOES want me to do, rather than what He doesn't. Not a complete fix but it works pretty well for me personally. I realize it is probably more difficult or complicated for those with different backgrounds, newer to the faith, or just different brain wiring. So please excuse my oversimplification, I'm just sharing my own experience! 🙂

Great questions!
I wrestle with these all the time! Sometimes it seems I have the answers and then as my desire/hopes start to take over it seems I lose sight of those answers. 🤷‍♂️

So, I really don't have any answers except that I try to stay in God's word, be honest about whether or not I am idolizing as Snackers said and to confess that and ask for change, then work on changing.

Marriage isn't promised. But there sure are things about it I miss and hope I will do better if given the chance again.

About the urges...honest accountability with someone who's willing to challenge you as well as encourage you!

by not worrying, being sad, showing any signs of distrust or unbelief & by smiling thru it all! think of each temptation as a test, passing the test. you will develop more strength as time goes on. make up comical statements that are lessons. concentrate on 2 or 3 of your greatest interests. "REPITITION IS THE MOTHER OF STUDY" renew your condition response with Jesus' help. & teach yourself to forget about your requests, they'll arrive faster. no brethren to share.
