You know you're getting old when.........

...when you look at Seoulsearch's avatar, and the first thing that springs to mind is Brandon Lee from The Crow. And then you realize The Crow was released...when you were in college. And since you're now back in college, you realize that The Crow came out years before the kids who are currently your classmates were even born. Then you put it all together, and realize that you are as old (or older) than the PARENTS of your current classmates.

Then you come in here to post and realize it's 8:54PM, and you need to go to bed.

*nods silently in agreement*

I know exactly what this guy is talking about.

Then those parents must be really young, as a 22 year back in 1999 would be 40 now. And that's when today's 18 year olds were born.

Nuke is right on target.

I had a guy ask me if I was trying to be Harley Quinn (he's 27) when in fact, the look is indeed 100% inspired by Brandon Lee's The Crow.

When I was around 23, I had dressed up as The Crow one year and, while talking to a friend this past Halloween, wanted to see if I could still somewhat pull it off. My avatar is what happened after about 10 minutes of experimenting with a black eyeliner pencil.

Part of the fun of doing so is seeing who people think I'm imitating--if they say The Crow, I know they're part of "my" peeps from "back in the day". :)

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the oldies. :D

I also guessed you were trying for Harley and 27 is far in my rearview mirror. I never saw the recent movies though, only posters for them at Wal-Mart...

Who is The Crow? I wasn't really into music, movies or actually any mainstream media at that time.

No biggie, The Crow came out in 1994, giving my classmates plenty of time to graduate, get married, and have kids in time for them to end up in my current classes whining about how hard it is to get up at 9:45AM to make it on time to a 10AM class... I just smile and nod, knowing that in the future when they have to get up at 4AM to get to their job at 6AM, then they'll look back on today and realize how stupid they sounded.

The Crow was a 1994 movie based on a graphic novel. The hero, Eric Draven, and his fiancee are viciously murdered, and the story follows a legend that sometimes a crow can bring a wronged soul back in order to set things right.

Unfortunately, you can't see the makeup very well in this clip, but I picked it because I thought it was a better representation of the movie as a whole than the others trailers I glanced through.

It became a bit infamous because it starred Brandon Lee in his breakout role (he was the son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee), but was tragically shot and killed in an accident on the set.

The movie also had a haunting, but beautiful score (as somewhat demonstrated by this clip--the other trailers were set to the soundtrack and not the score) that I used to love and played for hours.

They've talked about remaking this film for years, but so far it hasn't happened.

(For some reason, I haven't been able to post YouTube clips correctly... Hope you can catch a glimpse of it.)

This was a very famous promotional shot for the film, and this look is what my avatar is based upon:

A crow takes us to the afterlife? Not me. I'm flying first class when I go. :p

I guess I'm out of knowing I'm getting old all the way to I'm already there.

Last I heard, Bruce Lee's kid was getting into movies too. And graphic novels was a new art movement.

Ya think I might have missed a few decades there? lol

You know your getting old when - You sit up to 2 am and have work the next morning, and then takes you 3 days to get over the tiredness.
