There is now but a limelight faded and dim,
No audience comes to hear a faint voice.
Gone now is fellowship with lost comrades and pals,
While study is lonely in a flickering glow.
But the basin did come to test my resolve,
With the calloused feet of the one I love most.
Where year after year only we could see,
And the world slipped passed unaware.
My concern has been answered in pain and in awe,
Unexpected, and pointed, piercing my soul.
It’s not about me in my pride and deceit,
But to glory of one when I kneel at their feet.
