The verse partially says.......

"work out your Salvation".

It does not say...."try not to lose it".
It does not say..... "work out your discipleship".

So, what does the verse mean?
How do you "work it out"?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reader,

This is a Very important question, and it needs a skilled answer.

First, understand that that this verse is not teaching that you can lose your salvation, and you have to work it out to try to keep from losing it.
Its not that.
And you know that the verse does not say...>"work our your discipleship".
So, This means that you are to work out your Salvation....as that is what the verse says.... and so how do you do that?

1.) First, you have to understand that you HAVE IT.
You have it.. You have Salvation.
How do you know? = You are born again., as that is the ONLY PROOF that you have Salvation, and if you are not born again, you can't work out what you don't have., as you don't have it yet.
And you DON"T receive Salvation by being water baptized, as that just gets your body wet.
Salvation is not about getting wet....its about becoming a : "new Creation IN CHRIST">
And to be IN THERE........"IN"..."Christ",........ you have to be born again to get IN THERE..
See it?

Being born again, is a Spiritual BIRTH, that God causes you to BECOME as a "SON/Daughter" of God.
God births your spirit into HIS Spirit, through the Holy Spirit.
You become BORN.....AGAIN.....Spiritually, and now exist... "IN">.. Christ........"ONE with God".
= This is what it means to become a : "new Creation".

2.) Now. Do you see all that?
Do you see how your BODY and your MIND< is not your SPIRIT? And its only your SPIRIT That is Born again = INTO The Spirit of God, BY the Holy Spirit?
See that?
= Salvation is becoming THAT "New Creation". Being Born again, is to have become the "new Creation" "in Christ".
And if you are born again, then THAT which is born again, your Spirit, is the REAL YOU.
Not your body, or your mind.

Its not your body, and that is not your MIND that is born again......Its your SPIRIT.

And where does it now and forever exist : as BORN AGAIN?
It exists as "ONE with God". "seated IN Heavenly Places". 'IN, Christ"
This is : "Spiritual UNION" with God and Christ...... This is to have become "made Righteous"..=as Born.... AGAIN.
This is to have received SALVATION, that is a "GIFT"
The "GIFT OF SALVATION"= you have it if you are born again because God gave it to you BECAUSE you BELIEVED IN JESUS.
You gave God your faith in Christ and God gave you Salvation Through Christ.
Isnt that Amazing?
Thats the GRACE of God.

3.) Now, do you see how you are understanding what it means to have BECOME a CHRISTian?
Can you SEE what im showing you?
If you can see it, then you are "working out your Salvation"... as to work it out is to understand (discern) how to exist within what you have been given by God, regarding gaining the right understanding of : "the GIFT of Salvation".

Now, when you have a good grasp on that LIGHT, you can TEACH IT. And then you have helped a class, or a person, or your mother, understand how to work out their Salvation.
That's "ministry", and its a very good one.
Few can teach it, because Few understand it.
Now you are getting there....

See, you thought to '"work out your salvation".... was to try to be good, or to try to be like Christ... or to try to keep from losing it.
Nope.
That is not how you work out your Salvation....
You work out your Salvation, that you have been GIVEN BY GOD AS "the Gift of Salvation".. = by gaining REVELATION KNOWLEDGE regarding who you have become as a NEW CREATION, IN CHRIST.
"coming to the KNOWLEDGE" of this revelation, is how you "work out your Salvation".

Saint, Spiritual WORK is not self effort.

See that?
If you do, then you are now initially gaining understanding (Light) regarding how to work out your Salvation.

Yes. :) Amen.

Nope.
.. Boy, oh boy! What a dummy I was!
(I agree. It is He who works through us.)

Ephesians 2:10
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

The problem comes when a Christian decides he is not going to walk in them anymore. He refuses to let God work through him anymore. That's apostacy. :( It happens...

2 Peter 2:22 Context
20For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 21For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 22But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

I believe working out our salvation can be likened to working out a math problem, i.e., a+b=x, where x equals salvation.

The problem comes when a Christian decides he is not going to walk in them anymore. He refuses to let God work through him anymore. That's apostacy. :( It happens...

2 Peter 2:22 Context
20For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning
As I read it, Peter's utilization of the "if" in verse 20 suggests that an "if not" is otherwise implied and confirmed with the "But" in verse 22 of the reality of the dog and the sow, rather than the ever truly free. Especially considering the context of the entire chapter is false prophets and what happens to them for misleading many into their depravity. Although it is written that "many will follow in their depravity, and because of them the way of truth will be defamed (v.2)" it isn't necessarily suggesting that those who follow them are any that actually have truly 'escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ," that is, having done the math correctly.

Ephesians 2:10

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
So then, a= Christ Jesus b= we (his workmanship) = x, x=salvation (walking in good works)

actually, working out your Salvation with Fear and Trembling is rather very simple to do.

it's a mental state of the mind.

it's understanding that God has provided and given freely and we need to accept that and believe it. from that moment on, it's about our choices we make. what do we allow to influence us, what kinds of spirits are we allowing in the home by what we watch, view, listen to. we can maintain being in the right frame of mind concerning our Salvation by abiding by God's guidelines. when you have Inner Peace, your mind is worry free. when you have strife in your life, your mind is in a constant battle. our decision making is the biggest key to wondering am i really saved or am i?

Sounds good but, are you suggesting that watching a certain movie could jeopardize your salvation?

I understand this is a common opinion, and would say many things are, indeed, even intended to be stumbling block. However, I'm not necessarily promoting viewing such things, but God's Word says He "is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you unblemished in His glorious presence with great joy-(Jude1:24-25to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority through Jesus Christ our Lord before all time, and now, and for all eternity. Amen."

i don't know many Christians that have removed self and become sole reliant upon God. yes, we are to be, but normally we surrender after we have dug the hole and then go back to being self reliant until we crash and burn again.

what you say is correct, but who actually has submitted to that point is another thing.

this is a discussion on truths, not on what's not really happening even though it should be.

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling(Philippians 2:12).

If a person cannot lose their salvation then why is there fear and trembling.

Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
21For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
22Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off(Romans 11:20-22).

If a person does not continue in the goodness of God they will be cut off like the Hebrews that did not abide by the truth were cut off.

Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
13But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin(Hebrews 3:12-13).

This is a warning to the saints to not depart from the living God which is done by not abstaining from sins which is continuing in the goodness of God which when you repent of your sins and confess Christ you are supposed to depart from sin.

While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
22But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire(2 Peter 2:19-22).

If a person goes back to living for the world by holding on to sin then they have become in bondage to sin instead of being free in the Lord and it would have been better if they had not known the truth which is to abstain from sin than to turn from the truth that was given them.

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries(Hebrews 10:26-27).

If a person holds on to sin then the blood of Christ cannot wash it away for God will not forgive a sin and take it away if a person holds on to sin.

If a person has sinned they can be forgiven but if a person holds on to sin it cannot be forgiven for they will not let it go which some people believe their sins do not jeopardize their relationship with Christ so they hold on to sin thinking they are alright with God but they are not alright with God if they are holding on to sin.

Of course the sin can be forgiven when the person repents of the sin and means it and does not hold on to it which repenting and holding on to the sin is not repenting for they are not turning away from the sin.

But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear(Isaiah 59:2).

When a person is saved they are right with the Lord but if later on they hold unto sin then they become separated from God until they get rid of the sin.

God said do not have fellowship with darkness which the light can have no fellowship with darkness which they have darkness because of their sins so how can a person have fellowship with God who is light if they have sins which is darkness.

Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth(2 Timothy 3:4,5-7).

Some people have a from of godliness but they deny the Spirit leading them and are ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth that they have to abstain from sins to be right with God but they enjoy sins the things God is against and believe they are right with God.

And there is millions of people that believe it is alright to enjoy worldly things and be right with God especially money for their wants which neglects the poor the prosperity Gospel which is why the love of money is the root of all evil because it neglects the poor which is not love and charity, love in action, is greater than faith and hope, and love is the fulfilling of the law.

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
23And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity(Matthew 7:21,23).

Some people will not be with Jesus because they were workers of iniquity not wanting to abstain from sins.

There are some people that enjoy the things of the world with their money going by their wants and enjoying things that is content that God does not approve and believe they are right with God.

But all sin can be forgiven but some people enjoy sins and think they are right with God and they do not have to give them up to have a relationship with Christ which they would not be in a position for salvation for we have to abstain from sins to be right with God.

That is why there is fear and trembling to work out our own salvation because we have a responsibility to want to abstain from sin and be Christlike not doing things of the world.

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
17For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
18But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
24And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit(Galatians 5:16,17-18,24-25).

If a person is led of the Spirit they will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh for they have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts so they can abstain from sins and God will not allow them to be tempted above what they can handle so they can bear it so they can abstain from sin.

So there is no excuse that they cannot abstain from sin which some people make excuses for their sins as if they cannot abstain from sins but by the Spirit they can abstain from sins.

But all sin can be forgiven but some people enjoy sins and believe it does not affect their relationship with Christ and they cannot lose their salvation but sin separates us from God like it separated the Hebrews from God who disobeyed.

And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely(Revelation 22:17).

When the Bible says the saints are predestined to salvation does not mean God chose them to be saved without their choice but it means God already had the plan to give mankind salvation before he laid down the foundation of the world but this salvation is to whoever wants this salvation.

Like the Lamb was slain from the foundation of the world and the prophets blood slain from the foundation of the world although they were future events.

God said whoever wants salvation can have salvation and a person can lose salvation if they do not allow the Spirit to lead them to abstain from sin which the Bible warns us about that.

Phil 2:12 . . As you have always obeyed-- work out your own salvation
with fear and trembling

FAQ: Seeing as how Christ paid with his life the penalty for every sin that his
followers committed in the past, plus every sin they are committing now,
and every sin they will commit in the future; and God is no longer building
an indictment against them, then what's left to work out?

REPLY: A rapport with God, and a life of piety. (Gen 17:1, Rom 6:1-23)

FAQ: What's with the fear and trembling?

REPLY: That was one of Paul's favorite colloquialisms; for example:

1Cor 2:3-4 . . For I determined not to know anything among you except
Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in
much trembling.

"fear, and in trembling" doesn't mean Paul recommends shivering in terror
and anxiety like a frightened gerbil; but that a believer's attitude should be
free of pride, arrogance, and conceit, i.e. free of a superiority complex
and/or a master-race mentality.

Paul was very courteous to the Corinthians and came to them not as a
celebrity even though he was one of The Lord's hand-picked apostles and
they were a bunch of pagan heathens at the time who deserved nothing but
the cold shoulder.

Paul's attitude rubbed off on the Corinthians because they in turn deferred to
Paul's associates with fear and trembling just as he had treated them all at
one time.

2Cor 7:14-15 . . I had boasted to [Titus] about you, and you have not
embarrassed me. But just as everything we said to you was true, so our
boasting about you to Titus has proved to be true as well. And his affection
for you is all the greater when he remembers that you were all obedient,
receiving him with fear and trembling.

So then, what we're talking about here with "fear and trembling" is honor,
respect, submission, deference, and reverence rather than terror and
anxiety; and it's actually one of the Beatitudes.

Matt 5:3 . . Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of
heaven.

Context, context, context. Philippians 2:12 is one of the most misunderstood verses in the Bible. The Apostle Paul is definitely speaking to believers, but why? The answer is found at verses 2-4. "make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, INTENT ON ONE PURPOSE. Vs3, Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself; Vs4, do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interest of others."

It's self evident some of these people were only thinking of themselves and looking out for their own personal interest. At vs5 the Apostle explains to them to have the attitude of Jesus Christ who was selfless. At vs6 Paul explains (elegantly I might add) that Jesus "who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped." That word "although" means "in spite of the fact" that Jesus was God He (vs7) emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men." Technically speaking the word "although" does not appear in the Greek, The verse outright says, "Jesus existed as God."

Skipping down to Philippians 2:12. "So then, (in consideration of what was said above) my believed, just as you have always obeyed not as in my presence only, but now much more in my presence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling;" (why or because), vs13, for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure."

In other words, work out the deliverance or solution to your problems. Carrying out the process of sanctification to its ultimate conclusion. At vs14 Paul further explains, "Do all things without grumbling or disputing." So, verse 12 delineates human responsibility and verse 13 divine responsibility.

IN GOD THE SON,

Eternal does Not Equate to temporary!:

God's OPERATION On all HIS New-born babes In Christ
God's Eternal Assurance

context...Carrying out the process of sanctification to its ultimate conclusion.
I agree - keep in context. Can we conclude then, This refers to "personal
sanctification" resulting in "ultimate victory over the power of sin"?

And Not to God's Justification/Sanctification because of The Merits of
Christ's
FINISHED Work On The Cross, Paying For The Penalty of sin?

GRACE And Peace...

Respectfully, I think you are interpreting "work out your own salvation" wrongly.

Salvation, = deliverance, save,=deliver, saved,= delivered

You are correct in saying, "when you are born again" you have eternal deliverance, however, that eternal deliverance was secured on the cross, for all of those that are included in those that God gave to Jesus to die for. (John 6:39).

The statement of "save (deliver) yourselves from this untoward generation" was Peter (Acts 2:40) answering the Jews question, after Peter had accused them of crucifying Jesus, and they were pricked in their hearts, saying unto Peter and the rest of the apostles "men and brethren, what shall we do?"

By having their hearts "PRICKED" indicates that they had already been born again, and had their hearts changed from the stony heart of the unregenerate to a fleshy heart of the regenerate, whose heart could be pricked to feel quilt.

1 Tim 4:16 harmonizes with Acts 2:40. 1 Tim 4:16 - Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them; for in doing this thou shall both save (deliver) thyself, and them that hear thee.

All of the savings, in these verses, are deliverances received as they sojourn here in this world, not eternal deliverances, because they already have eternal deliverance.

Acts 2:38 - When Peter tells the Jews to repent, and be baptized FOR (Unto) the remission of sins. 1 Pet 3:20-21 - In Noah's ark, eight souls were saved (delivered) by water. The like figure whereunto, even baptism doth also now save (deliver) us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God) Baptism does not eternally deliver us, but it does deliver us from our guilty conscience.

See that?
If you do, then you are now initially gaining understanding (Light) regarding how to work out your Salvation.
why not just look at what Paul’s talking about there ?

“Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Do all things without murmurings and disputings

that ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭2:12-13, 15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

pretty basic if we just let it say what it says and don’t explain it out of context right ? Paul’s telling them “ don’t think you don’t have any role in your salvstion , obey and continue to work out your obedience even when I’m not there with you work out your salvstion do all things without complaining and arguing and murmuring “

He’s making sure no one was thinking “ we’re already saved there’s nothing for us to do , we have nonpart in our salvstion just say grace everyone we’re saved “

he was gaurding against what many do with his doctrine

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

they show us that verse and then claim the others don’t apply because of it paul never taught hypergrace

See it?
I suggest you begin your study of the passage without needing to decide a bunch of things that it can't mean: I see at least the following presuppositions listed here:

(1) To "work out your salvation" cannot mean that you can lose your salvation
(2) To "work out your salvation" does not mean to work out your discipleship
(3) To "work out your salvation" does not mean obtaining salvation
(4) to "work out your salvation" does not mean water baptism
(5) To "work out your salvation" does not mean anything to do with PROOF of salvation

My point is not that I believe any or all of the above five points are true. My point is that we should not come to study of a passage of Scripture with a list of predetermined doctrinal positions.

If Scripture means what it says and can be understood by any born again person with the Holy Spirit in them, then just study the Scripture itself and let it speak what it says.

Acts 2:38 - When Peter tells the Jews to repent, and be baptized FOR (Unto) the remission of sins.
Respectfully disagree with "(Unto)" pointing to "already forgiven sins"?
As under God's Context of the old prophecy/law economy, we
have, From Him:

Mar 1:4 "John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach
the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins."
+
Luk 3:3
"And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching
the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;"
+
Mar 16:16 "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;
but he that believeth not shall be damned."

Scripturally Confirmed By God:

"And all the people that heard him, and the publicans,
justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John.
But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel
of God against themselves, being not baptized of him."
(Luke 7:29-30)
+
Ananias, a man "zealous of the law" (Acts 22:12), with "thousands
of Jewish believers" (Acts 21:20), in Accordance With their Commission,
(Mat 28:19-20), From Christ on the earth, said to Paul:
+
Act 22:16 "And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized,
and wash away thy sins, calling on The Name of The Lord."
+
"Faith WITHOUT works is DEAD, being alone" (James 2:17,20,26)

Thus, Act 2:38 Is Correctly "Preserved/Inspired By God," As It Is Written:

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one
of you in The Name of Jesus Christ FOR the remission of sins, and
ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

For Israel, under prophecy and the law

In God's Other Context, For The Body Of Christ, In the Revelation of
The Mystery, Under His GRACE, In Christ's Reconciliation Commission,
From Heaven To Paul, and us (2Co 5:18-19), He Has:

"For by Grace are ye Saved Through faith; and
that NOT of yourselves: it is The Gift of God:
NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast." (Eph 2:8-9)
+
"Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of
Grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth
on Him that Justifieth the ungodly, his faith Is Counted for
righteousness. " (Rom 4:4-5)
+
"But after that The Kindness and Love of God our Saviour
Toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which
we have done, but According To His Mercy He Saved us, By
The Washing of Regeneration, and Renewing of The Holy Ghost; *

Which He Shed On us Abundantly Through Jesus Christ our Saviour;
That Being Justified By His Grace, we should be made heirs According
to The Hope of Eternal Life." (Tit 3:4-7)
+
* By ONE (Spiritual) Baptism (Eph 4:5):

For by ONE Spirit are we all baptized into ONE body, whether
we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and
have been all made to drink into ONE Spirit." (1Co 12:13)

Thus, Under Mystery/Grace, "But Now" faith (not "+ water works")
is For Forgiveness of sins, and possessing Eternal Life, And:

Works are "for rewards" When we are "Judged By Christ"
(1Co 3:8-15) Amen!

"work out your Salvation".

So, what does the verse mean?
The Scripture tells you what it means -----we will be working out our own Salvation till we die ------and one will never work it completely out in their lifetime -----

Philippians 2

GOD’S WORD Translation
Have the Same Attitude as Christ

2 So then, as Christians, do you have any encouragement?

Do you have any comfort from love?

Do you have any spiritual relationships?

Do you have any sympathy and compassion?

2 Then fill me with joy by having the same attitude and the same love, living in harmony, and keeping one purpose in mind.

3 Don’t act out of selfish ambition or be conceited. Instead, humbly think of others as being better than yourselves.

4 Don’t be concerned only about your own interests, but also be concerned about the interests of others.

5 Have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.

6 Although he was in the form of God and equal with God,
he did not take advantage of this equality.

7 Instead, he emptied himself by taking on the form of a servant,
by becoming like other humans,
by having a human appearance.

8 He humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death,
death on a cross.

9 This is why God has given him an exceptional honor—
the name honored above all other names—

10 so that at the name of Jesus everyone in heaven, on earth,
and in the world below will kneel

11 and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord
to the glory of God the Father.

Works are "for rewards" When we are "Judged By Christ"
(1Co 3:8-15) Amen!

John 5:24, 3:36, 3:16-- being given eternal life seperate from any kind of work. Not baptism in water.. not 'reducing sin in our lives' .. these come AFTER being given eternal life.. not the 'means by which eternal life is given'

So-- someone coming to Christ for salvation.. the trusting.. placing faith in.. doesn't involve self effort at all on our part.... but simply responding to conviction on our soul and entrusting our salvation with Him. 'Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved'

'Faith without works is dead'... comes in AFTER being saved... not the means by which salvation is given. James with this verse is writing about acts of service in response to having already being given eternal life... people who were already converted.. doing acts of service approved unto God.

If they didn't do these acts.. there salvation isn't gone.. it is a faith unused.. dormant.. and missing rewards from God.. inviting discipline and rebuke.

'Working out your salvation with fear and trembling'.. context is not about eternal life salvation but daily faith/daily deliverance.. the walk with God AFTER already having believed and given eternal life.

But yeah.. in regards to baptism..

You have water baptism by immersion which I believe is in 1 Corinthians 12:13.. Paul baptised by immersion in relation to the church he joined.. the Corinthians baptised by immersion in relation to the church at Corinth.. not salvation.. but a response to having already believed earlier.. a means by which someone can be a member of a church having had a pre requisite immersion baptism.

Spiritual baptism..... I don't see in scripture-- the Holy Spirit baptising someone figuratively.. I don't see where people get this from. At salvation the Holy Spirit does indwell a believer.. but is that 'spiritual baptism?'

Someone is circumsized in the heart at salvation.. but is that 'spiritual baptism?'
