There is no actual free will as some understand the term. I think scripture allows for that understanding.

BINGO! It's amazing how this truth is being attacked in this world. Even many solid believers seem to be wary to stick with the truth. And try to ride the fence.

I voted no and im not a calvinist. The reason this word brings out animosity is because of the view of God that calvinism gives.

God simply does not give people the opportunity to be saved in calvinism, their fate is sealed through no fault of their own. They are victims in God's world. Like a man playing with ants using a magnifying glass. God cursed them with the original sin and sin nature, and they cannot repent, they dont want to repent, there is no possibility for them to repent, they cannot believe the gospel to be saved. So not only are people suffering the original sin and its consequences in the physical, bad health, aging, dying, pain, they will also be tormented for eternity and there is nothing they could do about it.

So your definition would totally be my take on Calvinism. Although I have close friends that believe part or all of TULIP, there are things I can't get past. I totally would agree with your view of Calvinism.

I didn't know she was Calvinst. But I believe she will be in heaven. As will my friends that I disagree with but love dearly.

Wow, weren't you just cuffing the ears of people for their attitudes? I've known Sister Magenta here for a long time and the last thing anyone could do was question her faith. She is a genuine Christian, there is no doubt. That is what she "really is". And you owe her an apology. But that would require humbleness and a Christlike spirit. I'll be looking out for that apology.

Two factors preclude human autonomy. Our bondage to sin. And God's absolute Dominion and Sovereignty.

I think these passages lead to that understanding.
Isaiah 46:9-11, Daniel 4:35, Proverbs 16:4, Psalm 33:10-11, Ephesians 1:11, Romans 8:28. Just a few.

We do not know who is is willing. Why do you think Peter said, "Therefore, brothers, strive to make your calling and election sure. For if you practice these things you will never stumble".

God predestines according to foreknowledge. We do not have that knowledge. So we preach the gospel to all that we can. Or at least my wife and I do. Tell me what "Many are called but few are chosen" means.

You don't know who is willing until you preach the Gospel.

I think that means what we witness from charlatan television pastors. And those who identify as the faithful but are hypocrites. Name alone believers.

While those who are chosen are God's Elect. God's leading,his words in scripture and in prayer,resonate within. Life takes a pause and suddenly,there he is. Life stops. Even when you're walking into your kitchen ready to put up the groceries. Suddenly, that plan evaporates. And you fall to your knees and let him in.
That's what it means. :)

Is repenting of your murders part of accepting God's grace and salvation? For example, justifying your murders by claiming that you could not help but do whatever you willed because it wasn't God's will that you didn't is just a patronization of God's will.
