With the exception of the first one, did you listen to the others? If so, there is something terribly wrong, those songs are absolutely beautiful and highly anointed. I would be interested in knowing what exactly you do like?

I know many of the words of some of these songs are not scriptural, but at least they are honest, and what do you expect from performers who are secular musicians. It would be nice if some dedicated Christian artists would create something with honest musical integrity.

The mercy me song, would be a wonderful song, if they left out the synthesized filler sounds; because again with too much production, not enough musicianship. Why the digital violin? Is that really, just a Pro Tools download dubbed in? get a real violin or cello even a string quartet.

Why does most Christian music suck so bad? Why does it have to be over produced vapid lyrics simplistic rhyme scheme's and the same three chords over and over and then digital fill sounds? Why? Oh why oh why?

If you're talking about modern top 40, I wouldn't say that modern Christian radio is any worse.
If you're talking about smaller genres....secular music is a lot larger, so there isn't going to be as much variety being performed in the first place let alone marketed.

It seems to me that if you are writing songs to honor God, you would seek to be excellent in all aspects. Not seeking mass commercial appeal. Certainly not mimicing the worst genre of pop culture drivel.

Part of it is the prevailing ungodly and effeminate attitude of so-called Christians, if it's not "gay", it's not Christian. So, we have these repetitive Jesus is my boyfriend songs and movies with hunky men acting like women (anything from Sherwood Pictures).

A lot of it is money. People with exceptional talent go for the big bucks, which is the secular market. This problem is made worse by those same ungodly and effeminate Christians who don't hesitate to spend their money on things hostile to Christianity, like Starbucks Coffee (which is served in many megachurches). When was the last time you heard one of those limp-wristed Christians complain about abuse of Jesus' name in a movie? But, movie producers avoid abusive terms for homosexuals, blacks, Jews, etc., because those people would raise a stink.

Narrow is the way and there are too few real Christians to make much good music, but there are some. And, many of those traditional hymns are excellent.

Well part of it is so we can sing along and part is because most in charge of choosing are over 50 years old. I really like resurrection band but they've been together 40 years. I've dislike most everything secular since Led Zeppelin and the Eagles broke up.

When I had hair I used to seek out good 1960's to 80's Christian licks and riffs but I'm stuck in a time warp too. Just seek it. The pop record companies want posers that look like the music they are supposed to represent and most Christians here are republicans. Don't expect people who voted for Reagan to listen to Slayer.

This is the best response I have ever read on a Christian post forum or social media page. I bet you are that guy that looks a pastor in the eye after his message and say some thing like, next time try preaching from the Bible.
