Both the deeds and the doctrine of the Catholic Church are unacceptable to Christ.
As far as I am aware the Catholics do not allow divorce and remarriage. Though I am not Catholic nor from a Catholic family, so not sure if they have changed their stance.

Please don't stoop to the level of silly semantics. You know exactly what I meant. The "church" calls ITSELF the Roman Catholic Church.
And, if you are NOT a troll, which I suspect, please address the questions I put forth, and we can discuss them, in light of scripture.
Bede have you seen the Bible discussions forum? It is a forum much better suited to arguments... I mean debates such as this. Also, I want my nice, relaxed miscellaneous forum back.

No it doesn't call itself the Roman Catholic Church.
The full title is the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.” - a title also claimed by the Orthodox. It is normally shortened to Catholic Church.
Thus the Catechism is titled "Catechism Of The Catholic Church" (see http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0015/_INDEX.HTM). The term "Roman Catholic Church" was a pejorative term invented by Protestants at the Reformation.

To all,
I didn't join this forum to start pushing Catholic beliefs but I am ready to explain and defend them to those who are open to discussion. For that reason I don't want to start threads on particularly Catholic topics. But if you want to I'm happy to talk. I think it's better to start a new thread - in the Bible Discussion forum - so that others will see it and perhaps join in.
Please can you keep it to one topic per thread. "Shopping lists" of supposed Catholic errors are unproductive and descend into chaos - even quicker than normal threads.
It's my belief that Catholic teachings are much misunderstood. There are many Protestant sites that seem to specialise in promoting distorted versions (justforcatholics is a good example).
Here is another suggestion. Start a topic with an open ended question rather than an attack such as PennEdd's "Your response to the Satanic catholic doctrine of purgatory and indulgences?"
Final point. No Catholic doctrine (properly understood) contradicts scripture (properly interpreted).
Dude. I bet I know catholic beliefs better than you. I got the elongated earlobes from the nuns pulling them to prove it!

when understood by those who have been brought up in the Catholic religion, that would probably be true
I have come to understand, however, that some of those doctrines are very chameleon like when questioned
anyway, these forums are not Catholic...as I am sure you have figured out...there are many many Catholic forums available however and no one will misunderstand
but most of them will quickly snip any chance of presenting another interpretation
I would say you have pretty much been allowed to say whatever you wish and I doubt you have not been persuaded against anyone who is not Catholic
Let me make sure I am making myself clear on this.
I do understand your gripe, and I think it IS legitimate. A lot of people put down the Catholic Church and a lot of people say a lot of things about it that are not true. I DO understand you being upset about it.
I do NOT believe you are going to accomplish anything by complaining about it. Nobody is going to change anybody's mind here. All you will do is start people up again and we will have the same debate we have seen in this forum about 700 times already (and that's not even counting the Bible Discussion Forum threads... that would run the count almost to a million!)
Also, getting defensive and calling people trolls won't help anything. That just makes it worse, especially when you call "troll!" on people we have known here for a long time. Dude, it ain't helping.
Also, some good points were raised that I know for a fact are true, and you haven't answered them. I'm not saying you have to answer them - you can do whatever you want. But you started the thread, so it is kind of expected that you will give reasonable answers to defend the claims against the church you are ostensibly trying to defend here.
Like I said, you can do what you want. But I don't think what you are currently doing will be any help to you or the Catholic Church.
