if you saw me, you would puke
Matthew 19
23Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Truly I tell you, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
25When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?”
26Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
I believe this applies to those rich in outward beauty as well. What if the time came to give up your outward beauty, like in a scenario involving torture?
Hebrews 11
35Women received back their dead, raised to life again. Others were tortured and refused their release, so that they might gain a better resurrection.
36Still others endured mocking and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment.
37They were stoned, they were sawed in two, they were put to death by the sword. They went around in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, oppressed, and mistreated.
Luke 12
48But the one who unknowingly does things worthy of punishment will be beaten with few blows. From
everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and from him who has been entrusted with much, even more will be demanded
I think it is interesting that Jesus was anointed to preach the Gospel to these people
18“The Spirit of the Lord is on Me,
because He has anointed Me
to preach good news
to the poor.
He has sent Me to proclaim liberty to the captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to release the oppressed,
If, like me, you have been considered physically unattractive, as well as anyone else, such are poor in comeliness and are often dehumanized. It is not just those who are outwardly unattractive, but those who are financially poor, truly discriminated against, etc. These people are poor in very real senses, yet they are blessed.
Are you afflicted in some way? Your life does not have to be like this, or worse, forever, because of Jesus Christ.
However
Luke 6
24But
woe to you who are rich,
for you have
already received your comfort.
Don't feel defeated if you are struggling for reasons beyond your control, because I believe you are actually blessed. Not only will you be comforted later, but if you have inner beauty rather that outward beauty, God already delights in that.
1 Peter 3
4but from the inner disposition of your heart, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in God’s sight.
1 Samuel 16
7But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or height, for I have rejected him; the LORD does not see as man does. For man sees the outward appearance, but the LORD sees the heart.”
That is not to say that outward beauty or riches in general will necessarily be condemned, because all things are possible with God including rich people being saved.
However let's not
ourselves discriminate or give up in any way.
in time, we'll be given true peace about this. God remembers you and we will receive good things at the redemption in God's Kingdom if we do not give up.
Luke 16
25But Abraham answered, ‘Child, remember that during your lifetime you received your good things, while Lazarus received bad things.
But now he is comforted here, while you are in agony.
Galatians 6
7Do not be deceived: God is not to be mocked. Whatever a man sows, he will reap in return.
8The one who sows to please his flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; but the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
9Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for
in due time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
