I'm not especially emotional, but I have been affected by what is going on in Iran. I watched a video of a young man, 26, with all his life before him. He said that if you are watching, he was no longer with us. He asked that someone take care of his dog. Muslims are discouraged from owning dogs and Iranians are not allowed to take them out in public.

Why did this young man take his own life? He had lost hope. Many Iranians have put their hope in a promise from Mr Trump. He told them to keep protesting and that help is on the way. So far, nothing. It is better to say nothing and act than to make promises and not keep them. This is not a business deal where promises are a negotiating tactic. These are real people who are suffering unspeakable crimes at the hands of the government that is supposed to protect them.

Proverbs 13:12
"Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but desire fulfilled is a tree of life." Sadly, the young man was sick at heart and it was too much for him to bear. If only he had trusted in Jesus instead of man.

It helps to know what is meant by hope. It is not wishful thinking. True hope is based on God's promises and on His integrity. We need hope in order to have faith. We can say that we have faith, but in what? I knew someone who would just say, "Keep the faith". He could not explain what he meant. Faith is only a concept until we have something in which to place our faith. And that is God and His Word.

Now many Iranians are turning to Jesus in these dark days for Iran. They have placed their hope in the right place instead of a fallible man.

"Look now, you are trusting in Egypt, that splintered reed of a staff that will pierce the hand of anyone who leans on it. Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him."

"Some boast in chariots, others in horses; but we will boast in the name of the LORD our God."

We live in an age where we do not expect anything but lies from politicians. We live in an age where cynicism abounds because we have been lied to so much. Christians have God and His word to be our hope. Lord Jesus is Faithful and True. What He has promised, He will do. Even if it does not happen immediately, it will come to pass.

God waited until Abraham was no longer capable of fathering a child. The strong Abraham could only produce Ishmael, who went on to become Israel's enemy and is still. God's promise was made real in Abraham's experience when Abraham could no longer "help" God to bring His promise to pass.

In a world that is losing hope in human institutions, in leaders who promise much and deliver little; even in Christian leaders who sin and cover it up, we have a certain hope that God is faithful who has promised.

Our only hope is in Christ our Lord and our resurrection upon His return. Until then, keep calm and carry on. He who endures to the end will be saved.

Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. (Matt. 24:9-14)

One day I will explain what Jesus meant by "saved" in this context.

"For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it."
And Jesus and the prophets and the apostles spoke about the revelation of Christ, which is by the comforter, whom he told he his disciples will give them the understanding needed to not be judged,
John 14:15-18
[15]If ye love me, keep my commandments.
[16]And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
[17]Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
[18]I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
And Peter also thanked God for the understanding given to him which was his salvation. Not just believing on Jesus the person. BUT believing in the name. Which is salvation. And we are to to do the works towards salvation. Thay is being perfect. Thay is the trying of faith. After you come into the understanding of what you are doing, be able to keep it. And thats where we get the power of God. For defense and offense. Don't forget the parable of the talents. The servant that sat and just kept his faith was judged and his integrity was found unfit.

Well, our ultimate hope is in Christ for heaven Rom. 8:22-25),
but we are taught to hope/pray for God's will to be done now on earth, too (Matt. 6:10).
Both-and.

I think Trump may have problems with his health he seems awful quiet lately.

Politicians have always been up to mischief throughout history but these days. Modern media
catches many of them when they lie and contradict themselves. The prosecution rate for
politicians in my country is above the prosecution rate in society. So many taking bribes and
getting caught. Taking gifts and not declaring the gifts. You know the drill.

I do not understand how much drive these 80 year old men have including Biden.

Beyond my understanding.
They are what is known as Choleric temperaments. They are driven, restless; usually charming and persuasive. Most dictators are Cholerics. They are fine until you cross them. They are almost always control freaks. Strangely, they constantly seek approval. That's partly why they hate anyone who does not constantly pat them on the back.

My first pastor after I left the navy was a Choleric. I had a dispute with him and left, not on good terms. I met up with him about four years ago. He's in his 80's, and had just come back from a 12,000 mile trip around the state of Victoria. He was running for the senate. He is obviously feeling his age, but he has just as much drive as he had 50 years ago.

God has mellowed him and we got on fine this time around. I'm not the same either, and everyone is thankful for that.

Which raises the question: How much spiritual maturity/mellowing is due to growing tired?

Whomever says the lord has not come in flesh is an anti christ. As He is the first resurrected of t he dead. Whereby if he had not died and risen, the disciples nor anyone else would have the Holy ghost in them.
This is the reason for scolding the Charles priests. They stand in front of the door of salvation and will not any one else to enter.
We see plainly the next thing to happen is either the end or your untimly death. Which is why the comforter which is Christ in our heart must seal you with the understanding to live. Against which, the 2nd death has no power.

And whomever wishes to keep someone from reaching God. Come and test your integrity against the word and see if you will be saved.

He said do not try to save your life, meaning your own understanding and your old ways and try to make them his. To let go of it all in order to understand and know what you are coming into. We speak that which know and work in that which is given to us. How can you do either when you are dead? But he said his spirit would come to judge the quick and the dead. Meaning, teach Gods integrity to the righteous and the message of judgment to the wicked.
Proverbs 11:2-3
[2]When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.
[3]The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.

Growing tired can be a part of it. Tired of failure, tired of striving and getting nowhere, tired of defeat, tired of fighting God........ Eventually the tired believer says something like "I can't do this Christian life any more". Lord Jesus says, "Good. I've been waiting for you to give up so that I can do the living instead of you". Romans 7.

And then what does the believer do? How does he do the living for you and make the things youre going through go away?

Yes, tired of kicking against the goads of God's Gospel, Truth and Love.

Well , I'm guessing they don't do much else , no housework , cooking , cleaning , ironing , carrying shopping home etc . All the physical stuff will b done for them and that physical stuff can b pretty exhausting can't it ? They r surrounded by people who do almost everything for them so , they should have enough energy to think straight and make sensible decisions don't u think ? They even have people to help them understand what's going on and how to respond . People don't govern / rule on their own , they r usually the face in front of a very large team .
