I am listening to this as I typeLet me out!
I am listening to this as I typeI am aware of the Smashing Pumpkins but cannot say I am familiar at all with their music, as it kind of passed me by in the very late 80's and early 90's, and even these lyrics when I look at them (I could barely make them out in the singing) leave me indifferent to them. Please do not take this as a criticism of your musical tastes! I am just wondering if there is some other song of theirs that you could recommend to me that may be more accessible and demonstrative of their draw. When I look at a list of the top bands of the 90's I realize I am actually not familiar with a lot of them
I will show you what I mean with this top 100 list, leaving in purple those I am largely unfamiliar with, marking in blue the bands I have heard some of but don't really know, and marking in bold magenta the bands/artists I know or at least I am much more familiar with and maybe even love
While working on this list, this song from the 90's started playing in my mind

Consolation? Oh, another sad omission from the top 100 list I provided was The Eagles. Admittedly the vast majority of their stellar material predates that; still, they did officially releases material in the nineties, and this song, though from the late 80's, charted in/to the 90's and is also representative of a strong Christian theme, that being forgiveness. This is one of my all time favorite songs.Magenta, I'm taking that as the most sincere criticism, feel so hurt now. So sad. Why would you do this to me? It's a Christian site. I need to be encouraged Magenta, hel-looooooow! (Joking)
"Magenta bands", I like the sound of that.
It is a Christian site, so it's really not the best place to post rock music. Rock music has it's roots in the devil's work shop, it's something I still listen to, but I pray God can over look our sins. Posted this song, because it's pretty harmless overall, but I think rock music has brought many to hell to be quite frank.
I will give you another song I really like though, if it's any consultation. One of my favorites for sure.

*wipes away tear* The devil be damned
The Heart of the Matter
PS~ I also saw Don Henley live in the very late 80's or very early 90's![]()
for ages now, like its a sign or something! I love this lady, and its a pity she is married lol
Maybe the lord is trying to tell me there is someone missing me, but I haven't had any contact from anyone so I don't know. But its sure. I love this whole concert btw. Actually downloaded it and play it often. Her loss right Gregoryp? Maybe your gain, you don't know.
Listening nowYou never seen Don Henley, come on! Like I'm gonna believe that. Get real girl! I don't believe everything on the net. (more joking)
Really like this one by Amy Grant.
Maybe it was Veteran's Day (we call it Remembrance day).I had not seen this version before just now. She performed this on
Canada Day in 1994. Thanks for the journey, fellow traveler![]()

Listening nowOkay, female artist tragically overlooked on that top 100 of the 90's list: Jann Arden
How dare they???
Jann Arden profoundly touched the hearts and souls of many with her wrenching lyrics and haunting voice. Another theme I will revisit later, believe me
I saw Jann in concert five times. Yes, sir, count 'em: five! I met her also, at a CD signing event, and she put a special message to me on the CD cover with her signature about loving my purpleness
The venue was playing her music while everyone patiently awaited their turn, and I overheard the people ahead of me asking Jann where her songs "came from," and Jann said she did not know, which really made me cry that she was unaware that her songs came from the depths of her soul. When we finally met I asked if I could give her a hug, and she came out from behind her table so we could embrace each other. Ah, the sweetness of it all
This is from her 1994 "Living Under June" CD. Bonus: she's Canadian!![]()
Yes, it was , indeed! That is why I thanked you in that one post, calling you fellow traveler, for bearing with me as I revisit some of my musical memoriesFive times? That pretty good for a casual listener, seven times and I would of be impressed. That sounds like an enjoyable moment you had Magenta.
Yes, it was , indeed! That is why I thanked you in that one post, calling you fellow traveler, for bearing with me as I revisit some of my musical memoriesI also saw The Moody Blues in concert five times. They were sadly missing from that top 100 90's list list also haha. Another person I saw in concert many times was Bruce Cockburn, who is also Canadian, and been very prolific. He used to play at the Canadian National Exposition in Toronto, so the admittance price was included in the fair gate (meaning, quite inexpensive as far as concerts go, and it was an outdoor venue also, quite lovely, really
) So, having mentioned him, the song that comes to mind is Rocket Launcher, but I would rather post a song by another French Canadian Band known as Cano, whom I also saw live, sitting in a cloud on a mountain top many years ago
