Matt 7: 21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father, who is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out demons? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you; depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
These people who are rejected by Jesus even though they did all those works in Jesus' name must have had expected a reward for their works. Also, it seems that they must have had some belief in Jesus' name, but were still rejected because Jesus never knew them. How does Jesus get to know a person? It seems to me it happens when through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, both Father and Son are able to enter our beings and we become temples of both. In us, they touch and guide each mind, heart, and soul. Why do you think Jesus rejected them?

Seems from this verse, the love of God for each of us is so great He will bring His miracles and healing through a person who only knows Him in an outward way, not the way He requires, one on one vital relationship in humility and submission.
Have seen evidence of this.

Read the last line

“And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you; depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”

they didnt repent continued working iniquity

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father, who is in heaven. “

They prophesied in his name and cast our demons in his name did signs and wonders in his name that’s not what anyone’s going to be judged by but rather how we treat other people is what we’ll be judged on . A man can be called to be a prophet and in the end he didint hear his own message and respond to it

Driving out a demon in Jesus name won’t save or even having a word of prophecy from God won’t save a person ultimately it will come down to thier actions in regard to other people

“Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.”

Jesus knows by His supernatural power. he knows everyone before you are born. the way to get more of God, Jesus & the Holy Spirit is for them to get more of you first!!! your 4th statement is correct. disbelief, works not preformed in Jesus name & a "plowing of the wicked" approach.

“How does Jesus get to know a person?”

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:28-30‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I think you may be taking the phrase he didn’t know them too literally . God knows everyone he created. it’s how he will judge everyone righteously. To say he doesn’t know people who aren’t saved is to say he will judge them with ignorance in the end but of course he’s going to judge them fully informed and all knowingly without any hidden secret

“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”
‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭12:13-14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

he knows the wicked as well as the righteous look at the situation he’s selcolaing there instead of a literal interpretation the concept he’s teaching is they are calling him lord they are claiming that they drove our demons in his name and did many wonderful works but he’s telling them away from me younworkers of iniquity I never knew you “

he’s depicting the finality of judgement it’s just like the ten virgins

“Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.”( the lesson is here he’s warning them to be prepared or they could end up on the outside looking in )
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭25:1, 11-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

hes not teaching them there’s people he’s never known , that’s just part of the parable. God created everyone he o owe everyone through and through from motive to action his judgement will be correct and fully informed not lacking any knowledge.

Literally he knows every fiber of every person every word and deed they have done and thier motivations the problem is man doesn’t know him

“He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:10‬ ‭

We get to know him when we listen to and believe the gospel of Jesus Christ his son

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:31-32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

IMO knowing probably refers to intimacy, eg, Adam knew his wife (Genesis 4:1). So Christ saying he never knew some people who profess him likely means he never knew them intimately, ie, they didn't do his will.

But now, having known God, but rather having been known by God, how do you return again unto the weak and poor elements, in which again, as at the beginning you want to serve? Galatians 4:9
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 1 John 4:7-8

Those are people like the pope of the RCC, the long-robed and fancy clothed people who are proud of their sinful lives; the false prophets and pastors who only want worldy gain and a name for themselves, and wouldn't help another person out of the sheer goodness of their heart.

To be honest, I myself often fear that I am one of those rejected.
I don't try to be a burden on anyone, but I know that my own inward parts are not perfect.
I can tell my heart is callous, and I receive things from a more 'uptight' perspective than I beleive I aught.
I don't know if what I feel is love, but I do hope for God to heal me and those I know are suffering.

Plus it wasn't right for me to condemn.

2Ti 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Gal 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
Gal 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

2Ti 3:4 lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2Ti 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

These people did not allow the Spirit to lead them loving pleasures believing they were in position for salvation never coming to the truth.

Any person who says we cannot abstain from sin, and sin does not affect our relationship with Christ we are to turn away from them because they do not have Christlike behavior.

1Co 5:6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

They have a form of godliness but are not perfect in being Christlike which a little leaven leavens the whole lump .

By the Spirit we can abstain from sin.

1Co 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Gal 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

They say faith alone but charity, love in action, is greater than faith, and faith works by love.

No love, then faith is void.

1Co 13:6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth.

Psa 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

Pro 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Charity does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth to hate sin and the fear of the LORD is to hate evil.

But they enjoy sin never coming to the truth.

1Ti 6:4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
1Ti 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
1Ti 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

These people will enjoy their wants loving money believing the prosperity Gospel which we are to withdraw from them.

For the love of money is the root of all evil for it neglects the poor and needy, and love is the fulfilling of the law.

I appreciate, your response on this subject, Brother, specifically the Parable of the Ten Virgins, which I think, is an excellent parable for these later days, before our Lord & Kings SOON Return. Explaining the state of professed Christians, deluded by Satan and his Antichrist spirit in Rome, as does Rev 3:14-22, message to the Laodicean Church, being the condition of "The Church" NOW, "luke warm and in need of nothing" ( "we don't need the Righteousness of Christ", eg. "I've got this")

The parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25:1-13 is a parable as a warning to the church about being spiritually prepared for Christ’s second coming.

1. The Importance of Being Prepared
The ten virgins represent those who profess to be Christians, but only some are truly ready for the Lord's coming.

Bible References:
  • Matthew 25:1-3: "Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise."
  • Romans 5:5: "And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us."

2. The Oil as Symbolizing the Holy Spirit
The oil in the parable is crucial because it signifies the work of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life. The wise virgins represent those who allow the Holy Spirit to continually work in them, producing character transformation. eg. Gal 2:20. The foolish virgins, on the other hand, fail to cultivate a relationship with God, leaving them spiritually unprepared.

Bible References:
  • Zechariah 4:6: "So he said to me, 'This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty."
  • Luke 11:13: "If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!"
3. The Delay of the Bridegroom: A Test of Faith
The delay of the bridegroom symbolizes the period of time between Christ's first and second advent. This delay serves to test the faith and patience of God's people.
Bible References:
  • 2 Peter 3:9: "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."
  • Revelation 14:12: "This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus."

4. The Crisis at Midnight: A Wake-up Call
The cry at midnight that announces the arrival of the bridegroom symbolizes the suddenness and unexpected nature of Christ’s return. This will be a time when those who are unprepared will realize their spiritual condition too late.
Bible References:
  • Matthew 25:6: "At midnight the cry rang out: 'Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!'"
  • Revelation 22:12: "Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done."
5. The Foolish Virgins' Appeal and Christ’s Response

The foolish virgins, who had neglected to prepare and acquire oil, appeal to the wise virgins for help, but they cannot share their oil. The moment of decision for salvation is individual, and others cannot make that decision for us.
Bible References:
  • Matthew 25:9: "No," they replied, "there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves."
  • Philippians 2:12: "Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed— not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence— continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling."

6. The Close of Probation and the Final Judgment

Finally, when the door is shut, there is no longer an opportunity to enter the feast. The closing of the door symbolizes the end of probation, after which it is too late to repent.
Bible References:
  • Matthew 25:10: "But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut."
  • Revelation 22:11-12: "Let the one who does wrong continue to do wrong; let the vile person continue to be vile; let the one who does right continue to do right; and let the holy person continue to be holy. 'Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.'"
7. The Lesson: Watchfulness and Faithfulness

The final takeaway from the parable is the call to watchfulness and faithfulness, for only those who are spiritually prepared will be ready when Christ returns.
Bible References:
  • Matthew 25:13: "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour."
  • Luke 21:36: "Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.
The parable of the Ten Virgins stresses the importance of spiritual preparedness through a relationship with Christ, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the vigilance of maintaining that connection as we await His return.

amen, a good read thanks for sharing

“For the grace ( gospel ) of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and Saviour Jesus Christ;

who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.”

Most assuredly Brother, by the grace ( gospel = LOVE ) of The Father and Son, here go I ...

The parable emphasizes the necessity of personal preparedness and spiritual vigilance. This is a warning that mere profession of faith is insufficient; true readiness involves a living connection with Christ and continual reception of the Holy Spirit. The message is clear: "Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour" (Matt. 25:13), and spiritual preparation is of utmost importance
A "living connection with Christ," involves a deep, personal relationship with Jesus that is continually nurtured through prayer, Bible study, and obedience to His will. It’s not just about outward religious activity but about the heart being transformed by the Holy Spirit. This emphasizes the idea that true Christianity is an active, vibrant faith that involves daily surrender to God’s leading, a willingness to grow in grace and knowledge of Him, and a commitment to live out His teachings in every aspect of life. ie Gal 2:20

What this connection & spiritual preparation looks like ?:
  1. Constant Prayer and Communion with God: Regularly talking to God and listening to His voice through prayer. This keeps the believer sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
  2. Studying the Word of God: A living connection with Christ means regularly seeking wisdom from the Bible. The Word is “a lamp unto our feet, and a light unto our path” (Psalm 119:105), and it is through Scripture that we come to know God more intimately.
  3. Obedience to Christ’s Will: It's clear that love for Christ is demonstrated through obedience. A living connection is marked by following Christ’s commands, which involves both moral purity and loving service to others.
  4. Being Filled with the Holy Spirit: Just as the wise virgins had oil in their lamps, a believer’s connection with Christ is sustained by the Holy Spirit. There is a need for the Holy Spirit to continually fill and empower the believer for service.
  5. Living Out Christ’s Love: A true connection with Christ will manifest in selfless service to others, showing kindness, mercy, and forgiveness in practical ways.
In short, a "living connection" with Christ is about an ongoing, heartfelt, LOVING, relationship with Him, one that transforms the individual and motivates them to reflect Christ and His Righteousness, in their daily life. It’s about being spiritually prepared—much like the wise virgins with their oil—so that when Christ returns, the believer is ready, shining with the light of His character.

Have a question for you Brother;

?? ...Why is it that so many "professed Christian" proclaiming to love Jesus, accepting His Grace, & Love, claiming to know the Gospel, that ...

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like to it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Matt 22:37-39

...and knowing that Jesus said, " "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments" (John 14)"

...and, " And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that says, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

... and Matthew 7, which states that only those who do the will of God will enter the kingdom of heaven and James 1:22 "But be you doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves."

Additionally, John 14 highlights that Jesus is The Truth, and knowing Him requires following His commandments.

Brother ? ... I don't understand why so many of these "denominational churches" teach, "disobedience", iniquity, &lawlessness, yet think Jesus is going "know them" "recognize them" as looking anything like Jesus, to where He welcoming them into the "Wedding Feast, without Jesus' Robe of Righteousness'?? ( eg. not keeping the Sabbath = sin ... I think I understand, but want to hear your views on this.)

Guess my point is, in relation to the 10 Virgins Parable, that Jesus is saying, "`Not every one who is saying to me Lord, lord, shall come into the reign of the heavens; but he who is doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, lord, have we not in thy name prophesied? and in thy name cast out demons? and in thy name done many mighty things? and then I will acknowledge to them, that--I never knew you, depart from me ye who are working lawlessness. ." Matt 7:20-23 YLT

Why are so many people, thinking that they are believing and following Jesus the Christ, when, "by their fruits, you shall know them" and they don't look anything like Jesus and His Righteousness?
Blessings Brother.

Consider that God's word says in the end times that Satan will come to earth, before Jesus, claiming to be God, Rev 12:7-9 / II Thes 2:3-4. Those that study God's word know this and will not be deceived by him. They will make a stand against him to expose him as an imposter, Math 10:16-20. Many are not taught that Satan will come first and will fall away to his deception and worship him as God, out of ignorance. When the real Lord appears they will be too ashamed to face him knowing they were deceived, Rev 6:15-16. This is why Jesus would say, "I never knew you." Had they studied God's word, they would not have bowed to Satan knowing he was a fake and would have waited for the true Lord to return.

“This is a warning that mere profession of faith is insufficient; true readiness involves a living connection with Christ and continual reception of the Holy Spirit.”

right we need to be disciples of Jesus followers of his way. Gods way. I’m f we will do this

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11:28-30‬ ‭KJV‬‬

well learn about this

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
‭‭John‬ ‭8:31-32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭24:46-48‬ ‭

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38-39‬ ‭

it’s all based upon accepting Christ and his everlasting gospel all things will come to those who come to Jesus with humility as if he’s the lord and accept his eternal word that will outlast the world we know

“Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24:35‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭5:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

of course hearing and rejecting is different than hearing and accepting his word

It’s really important to hear the gospel according to the lord because it’s always going to be the exact same he doesn’t change

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

salvation will always be the same as he explains in the gospel to those who believe in him and follow after that belief where it leads as we hear the gospel it has the power to change the strongholds within us and break bonds we can’t alone. The power to save us and change our hearts and minds

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭1:16-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

as we learn from Jesus it imparts those things to us because we believe him if we reject what he’s saying his righteousness can’t be imparted , it happens by faith .

‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:16-19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Have you repented and stopped working iniquity? Most Christians admit to still sinning.

Have you repented and stopped working iniquity? Most Christians admit to still sinning.
Brother I’m seventy two I don’t have a lot of energy to sin anymore but you seem to be missing my point

it’s not about sinless perfection

what I did was when I realized I had done something sinful I followed this thinking

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭1:9-10‬ ‭

and this thinking when someone sinned against me in some way

“Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.””
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:36-38‬ ‭
What im saying is simple we need to learn the things Jesus taught . One of those things just one of them is that we need to stop serving sin and serve God instead , this doesn’t mean any of us are sinless and oerfect in our actions but it’s when we start believing “ god says I can’t keep sinning “ v “ everyone sins all the time it’s not an issue with god “

those two beliefs will lead to opposite results. I’m talking about what Jesus taught not what Moses taught

“forgive others who sin against you and you’ll be forgiven “

thats not a teaching for a perfect sinless righteous man it’s doctrine for imperfect believers in Jesus that he already knows are flawed

this is doctrine that leads us out of sin

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.”

look at the op the question is “ is this thing sin ?” When the person views it as sin they have a reason to turn against and away from it having to confess it to god as sin knowing it was wrong this changes our attachem ent to things it makes it become nasty and bad and dark which is the truth that we need to aconolwedge then it’s appeal changes to something else all together
