I'm gonna be getting my license eventually and I'm wondering what's a good first car under 6k ? I want a Mazda Miata but those are getting harder to find in that price range. Suggestions ?

One that you don't mind denting and getting a few scratches. One with plenty of spare parts readily available. One that has not been thrashed. I'm not sure that a suitable sports car will be available in your price range.

Honestly I'd avoid deciding on a specific used car. When you have the funds, then check and see what's available.
If you pick one specific car, you may he a long time waiting till one becomes available, and even longer for one in your price range.

Consider your ability to maintain the car. If you’re a budding mechanic with space and access to tools, buy something solid that needs a little work. Otherwise, look for something reliable. I recommend Honda or Toyota. I’d avoid Dodge. :)

Ive had good luck with Ford. Toyota is also dependable.. The plus side of Chevy has been that parts from multiple years were the same and easier and cheaper to find. Not sure if thats true anymore.

1. You're male.
2. Your username is Raceboy. I'm guessing this is more about you liking speed rather than being proud of your genetics.
3. You're looking for your first car.
4. You want a sporty car.

Conclusion: If you're my son, I'm putting you into the biggest, slowest, vehicle I can find. Maybe an old F350 1 ton pickup. Maybe a Chevy Suburban so long as it's very used. I was the same as you and I started out with a van. Not fast at all. And girls were immediately suspicious when I asked them out. hahaha! I survived...despite my best efforts.

I don't want a van I want a cool small convertible that has tons of aftermarket support, and decent fuel economy. The Miata is perfect, just a little expensive.

Plus a Mazda Miata is a SLOW car (120hp-135hp) soooo i don't see anything wrong with a miata.....

I’m convinced if you want a reliable car easy to maintain, room in it but sporty and good on gasoline I’d suggest either a Honda Civic or a Volkswagen Jetta.

If you want a good laugh my first car was gifted to me in 2004 and it was a vomit green 1977 Chrysler Newport with a gasoline guzzling 400ci v8 that made a blistering 190 horsepower. Hit Google image search for Chrysler Newport it still makes me laugh to this day 😆

1977 Chrysler Newport makes for a nice low rider or a cruise car but it ain't much for being fuel efficient for daily driving....
If you want super fuel efficiency get like a geo metro lol.

I went on this surf trip to Maui a long time ago. We flew in and we were going to rent a car for the time we were there. But while we were waiting in line somebody in our group happened to find this old car for sale super cheap - like way cheaper than a getting a rental would have been. I'm 99% sure it was a Chrysler Newport of about that same vintage. We bought it and it worked great. The blue bomber! When we got ready to leave we just drove it to the airport, signed the title, and left it unlocked with the keys in it and a note saying that it's a gift for whoever found it. :D:D

Find a Crown Victoria. You could drop the thing from an airplane and it would still run. I've had close to 35 cars in my lifetime. From Sports Cars to SUV's to Trucks. Believe me, you can't kill a Crown Vic
