Does it matter how you address and call God whether it be in prayer or not? I've heard some insist you must call him Yahweh or Yah, and you must also call Jesus by his name in the original Bible to go to heaven. Is this true and does it matter, as long as you pray to the father and the son?

Be sure to pray to the Holy Spirit as well. Call God whatever you are led to call Him but always be reverent.

"Our father thou art in Heaven". Call him father, some call him abba as well which means daddy

It doesn't matter what you call Him. God is more concerned with your heart than titles. People that insist you have to use specific terms are practicing legalism. Something God is very staunchly against.

I just call him God. Basically, call him whatever you want, as long as it's nothing silly (e.g xXxMasteroftheDankMemes420xXx) or offensive (no examples needed), I guess.

The word, god, is traced back to Sanskrit, however the actual ource of the word, god, in Sanskrit is not known to etymologists.

The Hebrews called gods, men of great strength. This word transliterated from Hebrew would be pronounced Elohim, thus Elohim with the capital is oour Almighty. Used with a small letter it is the equivalent to what we are meaning when we say god(s).

When Moses spoke to God, he asked Him who he should say sent Him to the Hebrews. God said, tell them Yahweh has sent you. Yahweh is the noun (gerund) form of the Hebrew verb to be. Used here it is transitive or active meaning only the One Who Created all could use this title in honesty for it does not simply mean He is, but He is Self-existing. Nothing reated may say this in honesty.

Having said this, I know when people say God they mean Yahweh, but those of you who do say God do not ever fault anyone for using the name, Yahweh.

No one knows God' true name, and He has promised in Zephaniah, come the KIngdom He is going to give us one tongue (language), so that we will be able to call Him by One Name.......I believe it will be His true name, but this too is a mystery to be revealed and not torn out of His understanding by mere creatures.

So, the name He has given mankind truly is Yahweh. Do not go off on this. I love to call Him by the name I know He supplied Moses, but I also know others mean Yahweh when they say God, so do ot argue this.........it has no bearing on Salvation, though it does open our eyes to many teachings revealing many otherwise hidden understandings............

I also like the name, Yeshua, meaning, the Salvation of Yah(weh). I know Jesus is the same name though afew steps furtherly6 transliterated.........Jesus christ is God. Yeshua Mashiach is Elohanu..........
