I dont know, im a christian. I dont do halloween.

I like chocolate truffles and also the small O'Henry bars when you put them in the freezer. They're really fun to chew off the chocolate and peanuts and find the nugget inside.

Having said that, Halloween is actually a Christian holiday. And somebody gave me a very interesting way of looking at our modern conception of the holiday and bringing some redemption into it. First of all, just from a historical point of view it is the "hallowed evening." Before reformation day or if you are of a Catholic persuasion All Saints Day… Oh yes, Anglican celebrate that too. Now it doesn't matter what your religious persuasion is in order to understand this way of looking at the cultural dynamic of Halloween… The one I'm about to tell you not the historic one…

Think of it this way you are on a mission to steal joy from the devil. How do you do this? You go out and you show joy in your neighbourhood by going door-to-door and you tell people about the joy of coming to the door. Jesus is the door and at the door, when you pass through the door into life with Jesus, you find the sweetness.... sometimes you have to pass through death and the attack of the demons and the ghouls in order to get there, but when you get there to the door, you find fellowship and an exchange of a gift which can bring joy to a child or an adult. Either giving or receiving. If we are so sour and afraid of the devil, then where is our victory we are victorious in Christ Jesus over all of the demons that tried to stop us from speaking with our neighbours meeting at the door and talking about Jesus.

So go out there and get some candy and win some souls if you can pray for a divine appointment to talk to people about the door that gives the sweetness of life after passing through the first death… If you can really go for intense evangelism, then tell them about the second death. Now that I understand Halloween this way I love it and I go out there and I smile and I talk to people. Hey if you really wanna be gung ho dress up as Jesus and start preaching to people, everybody will listen on Halloween.

Don't miss the opportunity to love your neighbour and tell them where true life is found.

Never heard of it. If it is evil I don't want to either.
Waiting for my account to be removed, after joining
I read a few articles and this place is not for me, calling out evil until then.
Pray that day is soon, thanks.
Well, then, if you have a mission to call out the evil, then I suggest you stay here. That's what good discussion is all about. Quote some scripture and don't get too long-winded so people can respond. I have to say sometimes I'm guilty of getting long winded myself and I don't even know if you do because this is the first time I'm seeing you post. But I think if you have time and you enjoy engagement and discussion and thinking about the truth and the Scriptures and what is good and evil then perhaps this could be a good place. Ask the Lord and see what he thinks about your involvement here. If you're not at peace with it then I bless you and go in peace. If not, please stay and be welcome at home.

Hallowed Evening is just around the corner... there are very good tracts with cartoons in them that you can give to the kids with their candy. And then look for the write ups in the papers afterwards of all the upset parents about you trying to evangelize their children 😂

Uh...

Pissing people off works directly AGAINST your stated objective. It can be an unintended but unavoidable side effect, but.. Taking an atavistic joy in making them mad is disturbing.

It was clearly tongue in cheek however I personally don't think that chick tracks about Halloween need to upset people. They are harmless enough, and there is so much other stuff out there that it's worth the possibility of one person being led unto eternal salvation. Do not doubt or be tossed about like a wave and see. If you don't feel good doing it, don't do it. I would feel perfectly fine and not be bothered one bit by somebody being upset by it. It has nothing to do with getting atavistic pleasure, and has everything to do with caring about the salvation of those around me.

Why do Christian celebrates Halloween?

Hello again, @Me_Clay -- I'm still waiting for you to kindly answer my return questions for you when you questioned my faith in another one of my threads.

I ask the same here, and will ask you again in every one of my threads where you do this.

What does your own walk look like, and why?

The threads I put up attract, and are for, people who are interested in reading others' experiences and stories, rather than just preaching at them. From skimming your post history, this seems to be your posting style. It doesn't look like you really share anything about yourself.

I understand everyone has their own style, but you might not find what you're looking for in the threads I put up.

Asking questions about others' walk without saying anything about your own comes across as being self-righteous with no interest in other people except to further condemn them, and most posters in the threads I write ignore it.

They are a place for people who are looking to get away from those who post as you do, because there is plenty of that to be found in other parts of the forum.

You're welcome to stay.

I just wanted to explain that you might not find what you're looking for here.

I've been very health conscious in the past few years, so one of my favourite snacks now is Smart Sweets. But very few will probably hand them out. :sneaky:
