What is your defense? (Part 3).
*The sixth weapon*: the Word that the Creator speaks with us now (Eph 6:17). This Word is the sword that the Holy Spirit uses to kill our corrupted self. Many people fancy that this sword is an attack weapon.
Nonetheless, we need to recall that:
• “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Eph 6:12).
Who are our enemies? Certainly, they aren’t people (we wrestle not against flesh and blood). Therefore, who are they?
*Principalities*: the authorities of this world. We ought to subject ourselves to them (Romans 13:1,2), that is to say, we need to manifest Jesus and His Gospel without ignore them and what they enjoy. In other words, we ought to glorify the Creator amidst their orders, seeking in Jesus to know how to behave:
- Obeying in a savvy way, like Jochebed, who threw her baby in the river (as pharaoh enjoined), but in a basket daubed with slime and with pitch (Exodus 2:3);
- Disobeying, like Shadrach, Mishael and Abednego who gave their life so that the leader could know the True God.
*Potentates*: the powers of this world (fame, knowledge, arms, wealth, etc. and those who keep them). As Jesus said, do not resist evil (Matthew 5:39), that is to say, don’t try to be stronger than the wicked. Recall that we were sent as lambs amid wolves (Matthew 10:16) and that it is when we are weak that we are sturdy (2Cor 12:9,10).
Our role is: out of weakness, produce force (Hebrews 11:34); out of the dung, produce fruits (Prov 12:12); in the murkiness make Jesus’ light to glare (2Cor 4:6); and so forth.
*Rulers of the darkness of this world*: the unlearned and unstable religious leaders who twist and pervert the Holy Scripture to their own destruction (and of people that follow them – 2Peter 3:16). Our role is to be pillar and foundation of the truth (1Timothy 3:15).
*Spiritual wickedness in high places*: Ha-Satan and his demons. Our role is to let Jesus use us to manifest to them His manifold grace and wisdom (Ephesians 3:10).
Perceive that, at no case, it is to defy these people, but to follow what it is said below:
• “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching to this very thing with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.” (Eph 6:18).
So, have a nice day letting Jesus be your Savior and Salvation. Remember that the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to the little children (Mark 10:14,15) who, instead of struggling against the enemy, jump into their fathers’ lap and allow them to sort out everything.
