Welcome aboard! 😎

Hi Snack, I have a new addiction now. HERE!

Even at work I am logging on in the toilet to get the latest in the mens trapping department hehe

It would have been an easy job (and I would have done it earlier), unless the cabinet under my sink would not be missing few screws on one hinge, that I am still unable to install back, the screw holes are too messed up to put it back, door stayed there just by leaning to the other door. (I so wish that the cabinet would be made of wood, but no.. and, yes I probably should ask someone to do it, I certainly do not want to buy a new cabinet because of that one door/hinge!)

I removed that one door and then it was easy to dismember all those hair monsters that lived in the water trap and pipes. And now I have only one door on my cabinet... that is my next mission ..for some day ..or year. Maybe just a curtain as a quick fix at first. So the main thing was a easy task, but the other did not get finished. And that bothers me a lot.

Not made from wood? Did you inherit Fred Flinstone's kitchen hewn from bedrock?

Assuming your cabinets are made from an engineered wood product, like melamine faced chipboard, a lasting repair is simple to achieve.

You can plug any worn fixing holes with wooden dowels. Squeeze some PVA wood glue into the hinge holes which are too damaged for the screws to grip, push or tap the wood dowels into the fixing holes, and leave the glue to set for 24hrs. Then cut off any protruding part of the dowels so they're flush with the surface of your cabinet, and refit your hinge.

It's an inexpensive repair which will grip screws better than the machined fixing holes in engineered wood. Another option is a hinge mounting repair plate. Low cost and DIY friendly. 😊

So, it is hard to you to start the tasks? Or you can start easy and it is hard to finish them?
I don't see the point in starting something and not seeing it through to completion. If I start watching a terrible movie, I'll finish watching it. :D

It feels like for every item I complete, three new ones appear. So the list keeps getting longer and longer. I've even organized some of them on my computer and divided them into different categories. :giggle:

Yes, that's really an issue. And I came to the conclusion that there is only one real solution to the problem: you need two dishwashers, one is for the dirty dishes and one is for the clean dishes from the last wash cycle. Then you don't have to empty it anymore and can just take what you need directly from it.

But talking to my mother on the phone might be the cheaper solution after all. :giggle:

Yes, it's a deal. But, I've already started on the wall. But you're in luck, the new sofa has arrived and I still have to assemble it, which is more urgent than the cabinet door. ;)

But what is this contest actually about? Hmm... the winner washes the loser's car...?:)

Wow, I am not that organized with my lists, only in my head, and (un)fortunately I sometimes forget something for a while  until I remember it again later on. But relatable that even tho one tasks leaves, others invent new company rightaway

What if both of the dishwashers would be full, or almost full of clean dishes? Where would the dirty ones go then, or would you have exact amount of dishes to fill only those two washers? And to have a space for both dishwashers.. Yeah, most likely cheaper option just to call your mum. :D I think she would like it too.

Oh no, I need to wash your car? But that is a summer time job! Wait, why am I thinking I lost already!?
After your sofa, could you perhaps mount your TV on the wall or replace the floor maybe, before the hinges? But I do have to thank you.. This really got me moving to do something to that situation, haven't got much time yet to do much, but I've started it..

And actually, for my car it would be interior cleaning, exterior is still shiny, a couple weeks back I took it to a car wash.

At least it would be durable material, bedrock I mean

I don't consider this chip wastewood product as wood... 😅 One would think that in a country that has lumber businesses would have wooden cabinets to choose.

Also I never thought that that repair option would work on this chipped material, as I think it would just chip away more.. But that is what I am going to do with it, glue and dowels, as those are what I have at home. Thank you! :giggle:

You have never stopped watching a movie half away? Oh, I sure will do so, for some movies I have suffered till the end (I even suffered the movie Barbie..), but not all movies deserve to be watched..
Also you kind of don't have to have any skills to watch a movie all the way, maybe just patience..

As for doing something, you (well, maybe not actually you ) might end up in the dead end (there comes some unexpected problem) and not know how to finish that all the way (lack of skills etc). Well, that would be my reason of not finishing it, but I do know some who just hops on to something else and leaves the first one.

today, lot's of praying, Bible activity & antique studying. talked to a friend about music also. yesterday, a different story. twas' my birthday & my wonderful wife took me out to a gourmet dinner at the raindancer in amsterdam n.y. lobster & steak filled me!

The idea behind it is that I fill one machine with dirty dishes. When it's full, I use the dishes straight away from it instead of putting them away in the cupboard first. The dirty dishes then go into the second machine until the other one is empty. But you're right, that only works as long as I don't have too many visitors at once, otherwise the concept wouldn't work anymore. And yes, finding space for a second machine would be a bit difficult. I would almost have to sacrifice the cupboard...
I'm concerned that my conversations with my mother might increase in the future...

I actually still need to finish installing the home theater with the projector, and wiring for the speakers! The TV is only set up temporarily. But my goodness, am I supposed to replace the floor too? It's parquet flooring, which would probably be expensive to replace. Would you like to donate?

By the way, the sofa is assembled! :) But it wasn't as easy as I first thought. So it was a busy weekend.

Regarding the hinges, the colleague (carpenter) called me over the weekend. He was at a garage-sale and saw two hinges that should fit. He will get in touch as soon as he has time. Great, then I don't even have to do it myself. :) So the clock is ticking...

Interior cleaning is fine too. Mine is also looking good on the outside because I take care of it.

I just thought I could buy little more time if you would install new flooring.. But no if you have such a great floors already.. A parquet, no way I will donate, those cost a fortune, so I'll give you the permission to keep the old one.
And I would need to open up my floors (call to ask offers from someone to do it, too scared because I do not want to hear the price..), there is some problem underneath. 😬

Sorry to inform you, the clock stopped last Monday, after so much procrastination on that day I finally managed to finish the job.. After me being me, I obviously screwed it up first, literally. So I ended up getting the hinge repair plates... for both hinges
But it is sooo nice finally to be able to use that cabinet! :D I can hide my cleaning supplies.

Okay, so what did you manage to do today? :D
Some task that had been lingering around for days, weeks, months or even years .. krhhmm, not that I would speak from the experience..

For me sometimes it is hard to start doing something. Somedays I would have the energy but certainly not the mood! Or vice versa. So it can be helpful for me to talk to someone while I do something, but for example my sis doesn't want me to do things while I am on the phone with her, she cannot hear a thing. I don't know if it is just the connection between us, because my brother nor any of my aunts have never complained of not hearing and I even asked them about it.

Also I'm getting the inspiration via what others are doing. Even from putting a video of someone doing some chore or reno in the background. Audio books, yes, but I never know what to listen, so that is a problem. If I find a good sermon, and what I need to do is easy (like oiling the sauna etc), then I can listen to it and really focus on the sermon at he same time.
But talking to someone while I do things is really good option, and I mean via phone, because of course I give my attention to the one who is visiting me.. unless it is my brother :D then I do stuff while talking to him.. or he just eats food I made for him while I do something else.

I never thought that I am the person who wants someone to be there when I do things, like my brother wants (but I guess it does inspire me). He once was doing something for me, either plumbing or electrical work and I was just standing there next to him while he explained by mumbling to me what he was doing. So I deciced I would do something else as I was no big help to him.. As I was leaving he asked: "Where you are going?" in a voice that said dare to leave! So I stayed. He likes to have someone near and just even give him some tools if needed, but mostly for that he likes to tell what he is doing. And sometimes I even ask him, because I know he likes to explain things... even tho time to time I do not understand a thing he says
Also if I have someone to do things with me, it does not feel like such a huge task, like painting the house, doing that alone would feel like it never ends..

So, what I finally managed to do.. after a week of nightshifts, which made me feel not alive at all and it was super hard to start doing anything. But finally I managed to to this I have been putting off for at least a year.. Well, I kind of HAD to it at this point.
Cleaning my powder rooms water trap under the sink, the sink was almost fully clogged at this point.

So the main thing was a easy task, but the other did not get finished. And that bothers me a lot.

Starting the tasks is hard depending on different things, I may not have tools at the moment for it (tools may be at my brothers place), nor the materials.. Or sometimes it is lack of my skills, because I may not have a idea how it is really done. Like the hinge situation on my cabinet..

For me, summer is better for my mood, or spring as it is so light so long, I usually get my inspiration to do things when it is evening, and in winter it means darkness. Which also means I am not so eager to do things..
Also when it is warmer and bright outside, my energy levels boosts up with those.

~ ~ ~ ~

So, it is hard to you to start the tasks? Or you can start easy and it is hard to finish them?

Or you don't face this problem at all? How, what is your super power?

What gives you the boost to do things?

Do you listen to radio, music or podcasts? Sermon maybe?

Do you do better if someone is over? Or when you are alone? While on a phone call?

If you are married, do you feel easier to do things now or back then when you lived alone? Do you prefer to do things together?

What are the factors that affect you? Time of the day, darkness etc?

Do you set up a time for some tasks?

Do you write up the things you need to do in order to get them done?

And the main question, what you managed to do today?

Hi Tazzo :)

Thanks for the insights of you! It had good vibes for me.

I'm living somewhere that if you don't care for your mental health you'll drown in dark thoughts and burden of everyday life. Shadow of war, persecution, all sorts of nation wide crisis, ... you name it.

So even before Christ shown me the path, I decided to have strategies to survive and be happy in my environment. I try to live in the moments (And trust my Shepherd). I focus on one thing at a time. If its time for me to do my job, job is only thing that I thing of. If I pray, Lord is the only thing that I think of, etc.

Sometimes when I'm feeling down and need to do something for myself, I play harp, guitar or write hymns and musical pieces, sometimes I read books. Or I go out and walk in nature and mountains. Or when I really need an emergent up lifting for my spirit, I grab my Harp and go to top of mountain before sunrise and play for myself (And make a delicious Omelette for myself on fire :D )

Today was a work day for me. So I tried to be a professional. But felt a little down. So I left my job for an hour and gone somewhere to eat a meal. I met an interesting old fellow and we talked about life and meaning of goodness, and all sorts of cool deep stuff :D It did made my day and I back to work.

I pray for you to always be happy
God bless you

so I'll give you the permission to keep the old one.
Thank you very much, that's very kind of you. I'm relieved. ;)

there is some problem underneath.
I'm sorry to hear that. What kind of problems do you expect? (I hope there aren't any rats living there. )

Hey congratulation! (y)

Hey, how did you get into my house to take this photo?

I wanted to post in here when this thread was new but my plantar fascitis flared up from doing HIIT on the treadmill right when it was almost healed. So I couldn't do much of anything for the past 2 weeks or so, plus I was under the weather.

But today my foot pain is low enough that I could do some things. And my cold is almost cleared up.

I added coolant to my car's radiator and ran the engine to see where it was leaking in hopes I could fix it with some JB weld, but it's leaking from where the metal meets the plastic so it needs replacing. :cautious: But on a positive note, I replaced the steering fluid in my mom's SUV because it was making noise whenever the steering wheel's turned, and now it's silent. :giggle: I also finally threw out a bunch of empty boxes that had been piling up. My next project is to clean the aquarium. Maybe tomorrow.

put foot cushion pads in your shoes, it helps relieve plantar fasciitis. too much salt can be a cause of p.f.

I recently learned to wear thick padded slippers in the house. It really helped and made the healing go a lot faster. Mine is actually from having a back/side injury that hurt so bad that I couldn't put weight on my right foot. So my left foot was doing all the work for weeks, then I had to carry stuff up and down a long flight of stairs for several days. My left foot developed PF during that time. I don't eat a lot of salty food and I drink like 2 gallons of water a day lol.

i wish four you quick permanent healing.

today, i made breakfast for my wife & i as i always do, chatted on CC, practiced the drums, talked to 1 of my numismatic associates, checked out some antiques, looked into fixing 1 of our antique tables & other odds & ends.

Oh snap!

BDF (Bible Discussion Forum) was supposed to be a good place to discuss theology and scripture. It has devolved into a very prideful place where people insult each other routinely and like to call each other not a REAL Christian.

Congrats on finding the better parts of the forum, and my compliments for surviving your brush with BDF.
What behooves me is the insult accompanying Bible discussion.

A soak in Epsom salts should help with the pain and inflammation 🤓.

Hope you feel better soon!

my favorite thing to do. not in a band though. why? there aren't enough talented players around. however, lately, a whole bunch of local musicians suddenly, desire to be in a band. a few are top quality. something may spring up, i'm working on it. there's so much to consider: style, approach, image, compatibility, staying power, lights, sound, revenue, rehearsal space, establishments to gig at, quality equipment, transportation of equipment, time slot, price per gig, etc. then you have the strict dwi laws & insurance to deal with. its not like it was in the old days. you could be in any style band & if you were good enough, you had work all the time.
