Taiwan Holds Emergency Military Drills, Braces for Invasion | China in Focus

I lived in Taiwan for eight years and have a very clear understanding of the situation.

Taiwan is a densely populated tropical island with steep rugged mountains. Not only so but it is an island that has been preparing for invasion for 80 years, they are heavily dug in, technologically advanced, have many solid allies in the region, and have a well funded and well trained army. In other words trying to invade them will be twice as difficult as Vietnam if not ten times harder. Not only so but both Tien An Men square and the way the CCP has treated Hong Kong have utterly convinced the locals that they would rather fight than be ruled by the CCP.

I heard one guy say that all China has to do is fire a few missiles at Taiwan and they will crumble. That is idiotic. The reason Taiwan is so incredibly strategic is because of Taiwan Semiconductors. A missile could destroy one of these factories, without the factories there is no point in invading. Besides TSMC is already moving factories to the US. Even if you destroy their factories you won't get Taiwan, and the US will still get their chips.

You can't fight an air war with Taiwan. The Tropical island and mountains gives them a tremendous advantage and with the US, Japan, Korea as their allies they will dominate in an air war.

China's strength is their manpower. But how do you land the men on Taiwan? The US recently had men that were firing 300 shots a minute in Venezuela. I think we can be sure that Taiwan will have similar capability. Trying to bring the men across the Taiwan strait will cause many of China's ships to be sunk. It is like shooting fish in a barrel to today's weapons. When they do hit the beach you can't overwhelm them because you are likely to be hit with these microwave weapons that can immobolize a few hundred soldiers in one shot.

Typical ratios are 10:1 to 20:1. Imagine China losing 20 million soldiers to Taiwan's 1 million.

Also consider this, Japan has the most technologically advanced navy. They also have the experience of fighting naval battles. In a war my money is on Japan doing significantly better on the naval war than China. The final result is they will lose on the sea, they will lose in the air, and if they want to fight with boots on the ground they'll likely lose 20:1 in manpower.

All Taiwan needs from Japan is to protect their northern flank and from the US is to keep the East coast open for supplies.

Also, if this war goes kinetic Taiwan will not only be playing defense. They have many trained soldiers in place in China. They can blow up bridges, power plants, transformers, and cruise missiles can take out dams like the 3 Gorges dam. Blowing up that one dam will flood the Yangtze river basis, their industrial heartland with 500 million people living there.

Also anyone paying attention has learned that the majority of people in China do not like the CCP. They would love to see them lose. You will have social chaos inside of China and starvation.

If China invades Taiwan, it isn't a sure win for the mainland. If the USA comes to Taiwan's aid then China will regret the attempted invasion no matter the outcome. Like other despotic countries, China makes a lot of noise, but it remains to be seen how their military will perform.
Under Trump I really don't see America getting involved. And if they did, it would be a lot harder than going into Venezuala. Thus far in history, no nuclear power has fought head on another nuclear power as far as I am aware of

I just listened to a general from the US that knew this Chinese general who was just purged. According to him he was the one guy in the top leadership who actually understood warfare, the other people were political hacks.

It is very possible that this recent purge represents those who fully understand the capabilities of the US, Taiwan and their alliance having reservations about invading while the political hacks are demanding action.

The most important factor in this war will be the leadership, if China is led by political hacks then they will be humiliated and put to an open shame.

Invading Taiwan without damaging the TSMC factories would be the most difficult assignment any invader could possibly be given. You need someone on the level of MacArthur or Eisenhower to pull this off, not some political hack from the CCP.

There are a lot of issues for Taiwan. China only has to blockade the island to create major problems. American support is not a given. China's navy is ever expanding.

Taiwan's airforce is not spectacular. There are around 300 jets, but F16's require excellent runways which are vulnerable to attack. Taiwan's missile defences are still being developed.

I'd hate to be a military planner for Taiwan. Can they depend on America, South Korea and Japan? Australia has been mooted as a possible ally, but our military is pretty weak. Will North Korea get involved? Would they attack South Korea to help China out?

I hope we never find out.

Taiwan has built their runways underneath a mountain on the East side of the Island. It is not vulnerable to being bombed. As I said it is essential that the East side of the island be kept open from embargo and air attack, But if the US and Japan assist in that much then Taiwan's odds against China go up dramatically. Also those F-16s defending the tropical mountains will give them an advantage in a dog fight.

If I were Taiwan, I'd be more concerned with drones. I agree that Japan and America could make a huge difference. China has built some ferries that have only one purpose. They are to land vehicles and troops on cliff tops. China has substantial airborne forces. I assume that all plausible scenarios have been wargamed.

One concern I have (living in the region) is that most war planners give America little chance of defeating China. China's advantages in manpower, shore bases and naval assets are too great. America's forces are substantial but thinly spread.

Hundreds of millions of Chinese live day to day, you blow up a few bridges and the 3 Gorges dam and you will have total chaos, famine, and anarchy on the Mainland. I see China as a big dragon with a few scales missing in the underbelly.

Yes, China can massacre people on Taiwan just as the IRGC massacred people in Iran, but what is the point? To get the entire world to hate and despise you?

Who cares? The world cares nothing for the people of Iran. They are mostly not Muslims so Iran gets away with murder literally. America has made a lot of noise and threats. Iranians are still being murdered by their own government. Taiwan is strategically important for trade routes. But if China takes Taiwan and then goes back to business as usual, the world will simply carry on as if nothing happened.

The Lord cares. The wise men were from Iran, they were the first fruits of the gospel, the firstfruits of the nations. According to Biblical prophecy revival in Iran takes place prior to the rapture.

Current events are directed by the Lord Jesus, not by fickle unbelievers.

Current events are controlled by the body of Christ. Overall, yes, Jesus is Lord. But if the church does not exert its authority, God waits until someone rises up and intercedes for the situation.

This principle goes back to Eden when God gave Adam and Eve dominion. Adam gave his authority to Satan, Jesus took it back and gave it to us once more.

I went to the local pier one hot summer night. It was during school holidays and packed. There were two police watching. I said a few words to a teenager who was harassing someone she knew. It was ugly and the kid needed to be told. She became even more abusive, obviously drunk or drugged. The cops just watched and said nothing. If Christians just watch and say nothing, Satan gets to do as he pleases. Thank God for those who do intercede. We need more who will stand up and be counted.

Lord Jesus we pray according to your word in Jeremiah 49 that You would send the sword after the IRGC and that You would scatter them to the four corners of the earth and that You would set up your throne in Iran. As they were the firstfruits of the nations. Amen.

It would not be Trump's decision to make. The 7th Fleet is home ported in Yokosuka, Japan. China would have absolutely no chance for any kind of success if they don't have some sort of battle plan drawn up. That will contain a missile or bombing attack on the 7th Fleet to either eliminate or reduce it's operational capacity.

So if China was to attack Taiwan, an attack of such would include some action on the 7th Fleet. That would also be a declaration of war on us by a foreign power to which we would reply back to.

In fact I would think the only possible plan they could have for taking Taiwan is to first destroy the US. If the US is no longer an issue it completely changes the equation for Taiwan and Japan.

I totally agree bro. Some sort of modern day Pearl Harbor attack for lack of a name for their operational plan.

It does indeed, but I'm not convinced that America would step in to help Taiwan. So the equation is in China's favour if America stays out of it.

China would only have to destroy American forces in the region. China is close to Taiwan. China could launch an all out attack and then see how America and Japan responded. With American forces tied up in the Middle East, now would be a good time for China to strike.

China mostly wants Taiwan for the sake of national pride. It is also strategically a major asset. America's attack on Venezuela could prompt China to act. Some experts are saying that China's recent military exercises are rehearsals for the real thing.

About the only consideration for China is the prospect of international sanctions. Given that the world economy is so dependent on China, I think it would be business as usual after a bit of tut tutting and strongly worded protests.

TSMC is absolutely critical to the race for ASI.

AOC Falls Apart on the World Stage When Asked a Simple Foreign Policy Question at Munich Security Conference (VIDEO) | The Gateway Pundit | by Cristina Laila https://share.google/QnCSpXbOpITSiq1Oc

The moderator asked AOC if the US should commit troops to defend against China and she turned into a stuttering mess.

Of course, AOC would hang Taiwan out to dry, but she could not string together a sentence.
