i'm now a first year college student. when i was in high school, i've started dreaming of becoming a soldier someday. i joined in pre-military trainings and succeeded in having the highest rank and position among others.
and now i'm in a brand new training.
but things changed. my family., specially my mom ,won't allow me anymore, and there are these people in training who keep on doing bad things against me.
my sister told me to pray harder and ask GOD if HE really wants this for me.

oh, i'm just confused.
i really want that profession someday.
but .. does GOD?

It's a hard situation for sure, what i would do.. i probably just keep on going, and pray every single day and ask God to guide you the way he wants you to go, Then all you'll have to do is just have faith that he will :)

Please pause and consider Galatians 5 and then look at what the military would require of you.

I was phased with something similar to this.
My entire family wanted me to become a doctor and I didn't know what to do until I finally acted this verse.
Proverbs 16:3
Commit your works to the LORD,
And your thoughts will be established
I started to look at all I've been doing for Christ and what I enjoyed and how I could use it for a benefit. Find something your good at and something that God has overall gifted you with. Commit those works to him and see where your thoughts take you, He may or may not have bigger plans for you.
DO NOT JUST PRAY! You need action too!! By your actions you will know your talents. by your talents you will know how you can serve God
God bless you

Agreed however Galatians 5 is a call for your actions to not be those attributed to war. Anger, hatred, violence and division

We need a army. Without a army our nation would crumble.
WAR is not hate. War is a service for our country. It is defense. Without our defense every nation would come in and destroy us.
Yes we do need love and we are not suppose to be in anger and violence but the Bible in no way forbids war.
How did Israel conquer what God had for them? David was one of the Godliest and bloodiest men out there. I would say more then ever it has to do with intentions, what do you think?

I suppose my being Canadian offers me a different perspective on this. I think now America needs an army as hate breeds hate. The wars being fought now will bring more wars.

It is ok to be in a war as god led many people into rightcheous wars.
I got little kids Answers books by ken ham.
One question asks if being in the military is a sin.
It is not because it is not MURDER which is killing out of hate or greed.
It is killing out of protection.

To use the Israelites as a model of righteousness would indeed be errant. Search the NT for a single source condoning the killing of another.

I know exactly the point your making and it does have truth to it. But if someone comes at you with a knife or puts a gun to someone you loves head are you just going to take it? Lethal self defense could only be the answer, not because we want to but because we have to.

i wonder what Christ would do in a situation when faced with death? Are we not to be Christ like in our suffering and actions?

I too am in a similar situation. I feel the Lord has called me to be a teacher of the scriptures, and to expose the false doctrines created by spirits and demons that many believers have abandoned their faith to follow, God has gave me numerous scriptures out of the blue to speak this to me. So what's the problem? I'm currently at college doing an electrical engineering course that my whole family wants me to see through. For me to walk out of the course mid-way would be foolish and certainly cause some tension in amongst my household, I'm only 18 time is on my side. I wish to finish the course and see where the Lord leads me, if he wants to open a door of opportunity for the likes of us, he'll do it and you can be certain you'll know when he has acted and wishes for you to follow. My advice to you would be to seek diligently in prayer for these matters. Ask him to speak through the scriptures, ask him to give you a clear sign. Fast if you feel the need. If you are sincere your question before God will not go unheard, he WANTS to lead you.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you."
~ Jeremiah 29:11-12.

So change that is a nice verse but directly applied would you advise to a military career or frown on it?

Well it comes down to one thing, if it's part of God's plan for Valerie or not. If it is, who am I or we to frown upon the Lords will? Surely he knows better than us, despite how it may look through our eyes at this current time. We could debate the pro's and con's of the military career choice all night if we wanted but ultimately what difference would it make ? God will have his way. And like I said in my last comment she will know this through being diligent in these matters through prayer :).

The isrealites are not the only people god has lead into war for righteous purposes
The question an 8 year old asks Ken Ham is if a soldier killing someone in war is breaking gods commandement
Ken replies- (4 sentences right out of what he wrote)-What the Bible teaches is that we should never kill another person (or even have hatred in our heart) because we are mad at them or jealous or just dont like them.
Because of the sinfullness of man, God told the Israelites they had to fight against these rebellious people. But keep in mind wehn a soldier goes to war it is not murder because he is obeying his orders and defending himself against the enemy. He is not doing it to be hatefull and he would stop fighting if the war was over.
Genesis 4 3-8 (First murder)
1 Samuel 15 3- (God commands them to kill. If it was a sin then god would be sinning telling others to sin as it says in the bible those who cause others to sin would be better drowned.)

You are citing OT. The people of the OC are not the people under the NC in Christ. I am saying if you are in Christ and striving to be Christ like find a place in the NT where Christ condones the military. There isn't a single verse to this extent.

Both parts of the bible are equally important.
You still havent answered because it isnt a sin.
If god commanded his people to go to war and it was a sin god would be sinning.
Because the bible clearly states that causing another to sin is in itself a sin.

indeed God called them to eradicate sin in these instances. It did not grant them a green card to slaughter at will. The armies of today's government are not fighting battles decreed by God to eradicate sin from the path of the nation of Israel.

God's last decrees on fighting, killing, hatred, anger and war are that they are vises of the flesh. Galatians 5

Oh well I know what the God is telling me and my heart and I know it is God so that is all I need to know.
The bible we read today is not the perfect bible because it has been edited and King James made his version so people would like it so it makes sence that there is debate

You are still young. I hope in time the Spirit moves in your heart. God can not dwell where the vices of the flesh rule.
