According to the gospels, Jesus proclaimed this "Golden Ethic Rule":
Do to others whatever you would have them do to you.
(Matthew 7:12)

This sounds like a fair way of living. And if not stated explicitly by Jesus, some of his teachings might be interpreted like "The Silver Rule":
"One should not treat other people in the manner in which one would not want to be treated by them."

Once again, fair enough. There's just one (big) problem: These rules don't survive long in real life.

Science tells us the truth. These rules of ethics can be simulated in a computer generated simulation game where the environments and facts of real life is modelled into the computer algorithm. The answer is depressing: However high the ethics of the golden and silver rules are, they are doomed to loose in a realistic simulated scenario. Think of it: The golden rule begs for someone with an evil mind, to take advantage of the naive attitude of these rules, and use these naive attitudes to destroy them. That's the rule of the game.

So, are you living 100% according to the golden rule? Sure of that? My guess is that no one - NO ONE - lives according to the golden rule a whole lifetime. If so, you will get abused in some sort of manner, sooner or later. So then - what to do? Follow Jesus or follow science ?

Please let me introduce the Bronze rule, which I personally follow. It runs like this:

1: Start being kind to your peer.
2: Then respond like your peer does. If your peer is kind, be kind back. If he is mean, be mean back.
3: Continue and repeat from step 2.

When this rule is simulated, it has a success rate MUCH higher than the golden/silver rules. It will survive. You might ask why? Because it has a feedback mechanism, which the golden rule lacks. It takes the facts of life seriously, and not in a naive manner.

So if you want to survive for a long time, you should consider living according to the bronze rule rather than the golden rule.

Christian ethics are not aimed at longevity, but rather at faithfulness to God and conformity to Christ.

God is just and He will judge everyone for things done while in this life. He will punish evildoers and he will reward the righteous.

Christians are right to avoid evil, and where necessary, restrain it, but we are specifically taught not to pay back evil for evil (Romans 12:9, 1 Peter 3:9).

Gold, Silver, Bronze commands? Respond in kind?

The correct translation is to treat others how "You would like to be treated".

I would recommend you study Yeshua just a little more intensely. He never responded in kind!

Umm yes, this rule was invented many centuries ago and it's the essence of many Biblical teachings so i don't think you're saying anything new. It's more a game of semantics.
In Bible this concept is called "reaping what you sow".

This rule might have some merit in the short run but you will soon find it limiting and lacking within substantive relationships. Mature sons of God have learned to be led by the Spirit in all things, especially within relationships. And this is for all relationships from the transactional (business) to the deepest and personal.

If you don’t have someone who looks over your soul, find an elder in Christ you know and ask for his guidance. An elder in the Lord can help you transition much quicker into maturity.

Blessings

The world follows this "bronze rule" and are you seeing the results? Endless bloodshed and revenge loop.
Also, try being mean to someone twice your size and see how that works.

Because it has a feedback mechanism, which the golden rule lacks
It only lacks a feedback mechanism if you wouldn't want feedback "done unto you".

The golden rule isn't "always be nice to people, no matter how they treat you"... it doesn't say that.

there is a way in between 2 and 3 which you skipped, which, with reasonable people will work. it’s about asking why they did the mean thing to get to the bottom of their meannesses
Now I stress the word “reasonable” because without this I tend to avoid those people. Some ppl like to pick fights for attention. If that’s the case then Jesus was no push over, He stumped the religious leaders, if they dared challenge Him.
I will leave you with a quote from WC Fields.
if you can’t dazzle them with brilliance baffle them with BS☝️

It does not matter about the gold, silver, and bronze rules.

In the sense people are going to be wicked all the same regardless of the level of kindness people show or how they show it.

The world has been saying be kind for years and we see the wickedness.

The truth is the world is not so terrible because of the Christians showing kindness and love.

Because of the majority of Christians showing love instead of hate adding to the peace of the world.

And influencing people of the world to be kinder subtracting from the hate and violence.

Because they believe God wants them to be like that.

Christianity keeps the world at bay.

If Christianity were taken out of the way and no belief in a personal God the nations on a worldwide scale enforcing it in favor for an atheist system the world would be more chaotic.

For there would not be that love and caring there.

And the world would exalt themselves highly and the occult would be the belief system.

Which the occult is the worse belief system in history for it is all about trying to harness the power of nature to be greater above other people.

Which the Bible says that is what is going to happen in the future.

Which they will stop the preaching of the Gospel and the belief in a personal God on a worldwide level.

And institute a system based on atheism and the occult.

In which one third of the population will die because of a war.

The antichrist by peace shall destroy many.

Which the world will know the chaos and destruction when taking religion and God out of the picture.

Now you will finally see what happens when you take religion and God out of the picture.

You said the golden rule begs for someone with an evil mind, to take advantage of the naive attitude of these rules, and use these naive attitudes to destroy them. That's the rule of the game.

Sure the world will take advantage of the Christians with the golden rule.

But what does that mean for the wicked are wicked regardless.

People take advantage of people regardless of their beliefs.

And a loving attitude actually deters some wicked from wanting to take advantage of them.

In a bad neighborhood hey leave that man alone he is the preacher man.

The world goes against each other and takes advantage of each other because they are motivated by arrogance and self exaltation.

So they do not care about each other and in competition with each other hurting, and fighting.

God said if you are against each other take heed lest you devour each other.

The golden rule showing love, compassion, and forgiveness, tames the beast to where they are kinder, and caring, because someone cares about them.

The golden rule in reality makes the world better.

You said Please let me introduce the Bronze rule, which I personally follow. It runs like this:

1: Start being kind to your peer.
2: Then respond like your peer does. If your peer is kind, be kind back. If he is mean, be mean back.
3: Continue and repeat from step 2.

That does not make sense and will make the world more violent and hateful fast.

If people show meanness when someone is mean how is that going to be better.

Then you are increasing meanness, hatefulness, fighting, that will explode and cause the world to be worse.

If we show kindness, love, forgiveness, and not rendering evil for evil not verbally retaliating when verbally assaulted it would nip the meanness in the bud, slow it down, stop it among some people.

Make the world a better place.

In reality the Christians and the golden rule are making the world a less evil place.

Gen 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Gen 6:12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

Gen 6:13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

The people were very wicked.

And every imagination of the thoughts of their heart was only evil continually.

They were only evil continually.

And they corrupted God's ways on earth.

Not caring about his ways of love, forgiveness, and compassion the golden rule.

And the earth was filled with violence as they were going against each other warring, and hateful.

That is what happens when you do not care about God's ways, the golden rule, and being mean to them if they are mean to you.

If God did not intervene they would of devoured each other.

No person was in a position of being right with God.

If God did not cause the flood more people would of been killed than the flood.

Only Noah was right with God so He started over with him so his ways could be in the earth.

The golden rule saves lives, stops hurt.

Causes people to not be hateful, not be violent towards each other.

Keeps the world at bay.
