What do you think heaven will be like?
I think that when we die, we'll find ourselves standing right in front of ginourmous golden gates with jewels encrusted in them. The gates will have been pushed all the way open, and would be attached to a golden wall that when you look left or right you can see that it goes on forever because it vanishes into the distance. I think that Jesus will be standing on the other side of the gates, and since the gates are open we will be able to run to him. From there, I can't imagine what it will be like.
Revelation 21:1 says, "Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea." If today's heaven is allready unimaginable, then what could the new one possibly be like?
Revelation 21:10-15 & 18-27 describe New Jerusalem and says, "And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountian great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down from heaven from God. It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb." We can see that the Holy City is so beautiful on the outside alone, what could heaven be like? The description continues in verse 18...
"The walls were made if Jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass. I did not seea temple i the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its lighy, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor to it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life."
What I love about this is how His glory will light up everything for us. It just puts an amazing image in my mind.
If this is the glory of Jerusalem, how much better will heaven be? Its kind of like that song, I can only imagine. when you think about heaven, "imagine" takes on a whole new meaning.
Congrats on surviving my post... now tell me what you think
