I was just wondering what people think of as their works.
Chances are there won't be anyone coming along and bragging about their good works for God in a public forum. However, Christians should understand a few things about works (or good works):
1. Good works do not save anyone since salvation is by grace through faith.
2. Good works are
essential for all Christians, since we were "created in Christ Jesus UNTO GOOD WORKS" (Eph 2:10)
3. Anyone who has no good works to show must ask himself/herself if they have really been saved.
4. Good works consist of ministering to others (particularly Christian brothers and sisters) materially, financially, emotionally, or spiritually.
5. Christians have a tremendous responsibility and a tremendous job to do on earth before the coming of Christ.
6. An idle Christian is not really serving the Lord.
7. The Judgment Seat of Christ will be for the judgment of our works on earth and the motivation for those works. Those which equate metaphorically to gold, silver, and precious stones will receive rewards. Those which equate to wood, hay, and stubble will be burned up and bring shame to those who did nothing.
8. The Bible says that Christ went into every town and village preaching the Gospel and doing good. Let that be our example.
