Reading Hebrews chapter 1, I am thinking about angels. This word is used a lot by people, even those who are not believers. Many assume small children who die too soon automatically become angels. Some that whoever they lose will have of course grown wings and acquired a harp as a matter of course.

God made the angels, they are eternal beings. A third of them chose to follow Lucifer and so became evil beings like him. This much I gather. Why didn't God destroy them along with Lucifer as soon as there was rebellion in heaven?

Can anyone recommend any good scripture- based books about angels?

I cannot recommend a book....sorry. Angels are but one of several spiritual beings mentioned in the bible. They are usually jointly referred to as Elohim which does translate "Spiritual Beings."

I cannot recommend a book....sorry. Angels are but one of several spiritual beings mentioned in the bible. They are usually jointly referred to as Elohim which does translate "Spiritual Beings." It is also mentioned that some Elohim are good while others are not. This is a fascinating topic for discussion.

They are a separate entity from us. They do not have wings and appear as "a god." They do not have a gender but appear similar to man, but different. They are described in the Bible as "sons of God" and we are "children of God" bc they are older than us. They are much bigger than me, my hand is like a toddlers to them. They tell us the future and it happens. They can read our minds and give us their thoughts. They love us similar to how God loves us.... like a vessel. I had a dream meeting an angel. And there are many times they are around.

Each believer has guardian angels. "For he commands his angels concerning you to guard you wherever you may go."

Never thought much of angels until dreaming about one. I love him so much and I never blame God when I hurt bc I know God is always good to us now.... we are on his mind every moment.

Hi Mary, I believe that the ministry called "GotQuestions.org" is not only a great place to find quick answers to theological questions and various Chistian topics in general, but also to begin a more in-depth study of a topic or passage.

Elohim is a name of God in the Bible, derived from the Hebrew word Eloh, which means "God"1. The word Elohim is a plural form of the word Eloah, which can be translated as “the power” or “the one who is powerful”2. The related nouns Eloah and El are used as proper names or as generics, in which case they are interchangeable with Elohim3. The word El means "mighty one" in Canaanite4.

Elohim may be translated as mighty ones. This was used by Canaanites and Hebrews in referring to gods orthe True El (Singular)

With little meditation, this explains why it is written i the Psalms that we are gods, not God. We are also mighty ones ins certain circumstances noted by our Fasther.

Angels are a different type of created being that reflect a different side of God than mankind, not dead humans. Their strengths and weaknesses are different than ours and they fulfill a different role in God's plan (per prophecy). It seems to me whether they have wings or not is related to their type, though I wouldn't swear to it.

God can destroy them but dislikes doing so because they are also His children. He does when He must, and apparently will at the appointed time per Mark 1:24.

We are ideed Elohim, higher in status to all other Elohi.

Yep, I even heard of a four year old girl who had a gardening angel.
