The resurrection is a part of the gospel, which includes the cross . . .

"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures" (I Corinthians 15:1-4).

No; Jesus said this:

25 And there went great multitudes with Him: and He turned, and said unto them,

26 If any man come to Me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.”

27 And whosoever does not bear his cross, and come after Me, cannot be My disciple.” (Luke 14:25-27)

However, Jesus was not talking about the cross on which He was crucified.

Neither the crucifixion nor the resurrection are in question.

Yes the cross atoned for our sins to a righteous GOD and the resurrection proved that HE IS the TRUTH and the WAY and the LIFE.

Death Is the one thing no one believes can be overcame but JESUS overcame death.

More to the story

"Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? I think its importamt to look at verses before and after as well..

I think he was talking of believers in the faith..

Irrelevant. MoTC continually posts quotes which idolize "the Cross" and put it above Jesus Christ Himself.

When MOTC constantly mentions the cross In many of his post,sometimes I feel that I’m missing something and It starts sounding mysterious and then when he explains what he means,I think didn’t we all know that already?:unsure:
 
agreed, we should 'always' check-out the over-all context' as well as what is -before and after
the scripture in question - we, hub and me, call it 'the sandwich principle', because it is
so good to eat, and every time we 'eat', we learn' something...

The cross did not atone . . . but it was the method. The word 'cross' however, incorporates the whole

I don't agree with his constant reference to Jimmy Swaggart but, in my opinion, he is going out of his way to ensure the the central theme of his message is the cross - which I do agree with. Now, I hope that with his zeal he knows that his eternal destiny is sure by the FINISHED work of Jesus Christ upon that cross. That is, I hope he doesn't share Mr. Swaggart's view that God does His part and we must do our part leading to a works-based plan of salvation.

Yet, Paul does tell us that he chooses to know nothing else . . .

"For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified" (I Corinthians 2:2).

I think that a few of you are going to seed worrying about MoTC's emphasis on the cross and should find some other hobby horse to ride. You done rode this one to death!

“17 For Christ sent me not to baptize (presents to us a Cardinal Truth), but to preach the Gospel (the manner in which one may be Saved from sin): not with wisdom of words (intellectualism is not the Gospel), lest the Cross of Christ should be made of none effect. Never heard Brother Swaggart or his Pastors ever preach a work base salvation. He teaches that anything and everything that is not produced and birth by the Holy Spirit is wood, hay, and stubble from the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil. In other words it is the work of the flesh. If it is of the flesh the bush will be consumed. If it of the Spirit the bush will not be consumed. Exodus 3:2-3
