Visionary ideas to improve your community

This is the thread if you have really good ideas to improve your community. Think of it as ministry. It could be anything, and it might have worked elsewhere, but the important thing is to write the vision down.

I have a few.

Gardens for all churches. We take over abandoned and neglected churchyards and grow flowers and veges and fruits in them. Doesnt matter what kind of church, if its got soil, it can grow a garden. Then because the church has the most beautiful gardens where people can go and pray and harvest food people will feel closer to God.

Books at bus stops and train stations. Cos when waiting for a train or bus, its kinda boring without a book to read. Well how about having small libraries at all stations. It can all be self regulated so no need for a librarian overseeing it all just as long as books are being read! There can also be free bibles at all stops.

Billboard verses. If theres so much secular advertising why dont we counter it with giant inspirational verses on billboards everyone can see.

Church bells. Bring back church bells so we can ring them on sundays and when theres weddings. Why should muslims have all the calls to prayer.

Gardens for all churches or community gardens, books and Bible stops, Bible verses here and there.. and church bells=). School and office bulletin boards need those verses posted for everyone to read too.

This isnt my idea but a friends, who came out of meth addiction. She is going to coordinate a rehab centre for those who are coming out of addiction. It is a bush camp, its for men and they are going to learn practical skills like carving and woodworking, and gardening.

Because after they give up drugdealing they need to to have skills to do something else and often its all they know. Shes raising funds for this bush camp and got some property where its going to go, in an area thats most devastated by addiction, but away from any places where they can freely access alchoho, or other drugs. Unlike other rehabs, that just deal with behaviours she is going to counsel these men with prayer and the power of the holy spirit to deliver them from wounds and brokenness, to bring healing.

Lobbying for improved Playgrounds for childrens and outdoor fitness equipment adults esp in areas that seem negelected. Also collaborative art projects to involve the community like murals, and scultpures made from recycled materials, to brighten up our public spaces.

Prayer for these playgrounds that they are safe places for children to play and make friends and for adults to get outside in the fresh air.
