Very Panicked and Horrified

Dear All,
Several things to note. Then, I will get to the gist. First of all, I feel that the Lord and I are renewed!!! Praise His Holy Name!!!
Last week, I lost my job. I worked nights but kept falling asleep. I feel sone of it was my
health! They found a dvt in my legs. I also continue to get bit by bedbugs which keep me from sleeping soundly. I mentioned this issue in a prior thread.
Now, I am looking for work to supplement my SS and doing other cost-cutting maneuvers like reverse mortgage but still these sources alone will not be enough.
Now, my big issue! As you all know from previous posts, I lost both parents in 2024. We all shared a residence and expenses.
I discovered a few months ago, I had acquired an infestation of bedbugs, more than likely from the last place I worked. Ive had a lot of suggestions made but still the experts lean toward exterminators, especially with large infestations.
My hone is 1800 square feet. The extermibator came early July for initial treatment. I was unable to empty up all drawers, closets, etc. My house has lots of rooms, closets, a built in bookcase case, etc. BB will hide in the above. I dont know what to do, I couldn't raid through all these rooms, drawers, and closets. I dobt want to lose special items that belonged to my parents, important documents, etc. I dont know what to do and feel if it doesn't stop soon, Im going to lose my mind!!! What do I do?!!!

I will pray for God to provide clarity of thought on how to best proceed in a way that is successful and cost-effective.

Ive heard of it but from what Ive read may not always be that effective. The general advice is not to mix diy with what exterminators are doing. I dont know what to do. I feel so alone in everything these days!

Well, it is 100% organic, so I am not sure how it could interfere in anything they are doing. And it is true it may
not be 100% effective but I would think in your situation that every little bit helps against those small pests.

Do you have data on your phone for YouTube? If not, is there a library in your area? Take a set of head phones and listen to the videos and take notes.

If you can at least get sleep, that will help . If you don't like Guy's advice, there are a lot of other diy advice on the list under the subject.

Hope you are able to git em all soon!

Spraying bed bug poison around your bed and all the places you rest does a pretty good job at being a nuke of its own.
When you cut off their souce of nourishment, they can't hold out for long. They either die from the poison trying to get to you or starve sitting where they are.
It may be a tougher situation if you have pets, however.

U could try putting a pool of cooking oil around the feet of your bed , it stops them climbing up and they may even drown in it

The best way IMHO are the feeding bowls for pets. The stainless steel ones won't crack with the heavy bed legs in them.

I gave some to a friend who was getting bit by chiggers on his porch.
It worked for those. I've tried it on ants and experimented on stink bugs with little success though. Perhaps it will work on chiggers. Nice thing about it it's safe unless using a vacuum cleaner.
 
Neem oil is good, JUST DONT EAT IT.
Its a neurotoxin, so pets and children can die from it. So, if you haVe either.. just no!

I uSed to spray it on my shoes becauSe one of the businesses I worked at over a DeCaDe ago was infeSted. Neem seems to kill quivk.

Rubbing alcohol kills the eggs which look like small riCe grains usually under the Bed corners.

MageNta's idea is safe. I thik piNe oil is safe (always do your research! People d make Misteaks!)

Something iVe never tried is vaseline/pure capsacin. Someone says they get trapped and scream (the Bugs). Capsacin is the component in tear gas, (obviously rendered as an aerosol). However, hot sauce companies buyx it as a liquid.(Dangerous)
