I felt we needed a thread about useless (or not useless) last-minute Christmas gifts, so here it is for anyone who needs some last-minute ideas.... or not.

Pictures are optional.

I'll start:
A roll of duck tape
iu

unicorn-shaped soaps
iu
hilarious

I have some books.
A lot of books. Maybe y'aal can have a few.
pens. a few hundred pens. that's enough for everyone heree? no?

I got a bendy straw-shaped pen with a hello kitty charm and to-go cup shaped notebook. It must be very rare since I can't find any image of it on the internet.

So many people here are getting "useless" gifts I would love to find under my tree! 😬

Yes, I knew that you would be jelly. :giggle:

Actually, I'm never going to open this Hello Kitty and Friends Snack Shop Pen & Notebook, especially since I couldn't find even a hint of it searching the internet. And I actually purchased it (on the clearance rack) myself so I can do what I want with it.

I'm saving it for when I finally meetup with @seoulsearch because I think it encapsulates her rarity as much as it does her novelty in writing. Plus, Hello Kitty is a closer fit to her persona as mine is to Chococat, *see his catchphrases "illogical" and reference to "quotation marks."

The following are some thoughts from Hello Kitty's creator...
When asked why Hello Kitty is the mascot of Sanrio, Shintaro Tsuji personally stated "I felt that the most important thing in your life is to have someone whom you can open up your heart to and talk about anything; to have many friends whom you can talk with your heart is the most blessed thing in your life.

And that sounds like @seoulsearch "to a tee."

I love Hello Kitty. I don't know why. I just love anything with Hello Kitty on it. I used to have two hello kitty dolls (a boy and a girl) strapped into my car's front seat to keep me company on my long commute. Sounds strange I know, but I think they got me out of a speeding ticket once. The cop saw them and just gave me a warning. :) They say that cops out here never give warnings, and I believe it. Alas I don't know what ever happened to those dolls. There are dolls that look like them in my dad's old office (I miss my dad so much)... but I think they belong to my niece. Hmmmm... maybe they're mine.

What's not to love?! And I suspect that your dad (as much as your niece) might've shared in that sentiment.

So cute! And it'll look perfectly natural when you stick the pen in your mouth while you're thinking about what to write!

My niece maybe, but by the time she was born the Hello Kitty trend was pretty much over. My dad's office became the place where a lot of her old toys and stuff got stored. The more I think of it, the more I think those really are my dolls. I'll have to look at them again.

I'm not crying, you're crying!!

Thank you so much, @Mem, for this beautiful description. I think it's adorable that you identify more as Chococat. 💖

Honestly, I am probably most like Badtz Maru, the "penguin with an attitude" -- er, maybe I shouldn't admit that in public.

Badtz even has a pet alligator, and I love alligators!

But I have loved Hello Kitty since childhood, as I was a very jealous of a little girl (I still even remember her first and last name...) who had all the Hello Kitty accessories my parents refused to buy out out of frugality -- and being poor!

I'm grateful for all their lessons now, but as an adult, Hello Kitty is a symbol of me making it on my own -- and that why I happily have a Hello Kitty tin holding all my writing instruments right next to my laptop while I type. :D

Thank you again @Mem for thinking of me!!

I would love to meet you and hope I can return the favor, maybe by bringing you a few art supplies. (I always love your avatars!) 💝

Leave the brushes to me, or God's tendency to place things made just for me on clearance shelves. I tend to pick a favorite tool out of the kit and the others will then become dust collectors. However, if you come across a neglected orchid designated for clearance pricing, even if there is only a spot of green left on it...I've developed and orchsession. I've learned my lesson transporting them in the winter, however, as I'm currently nursing one with its only remaining life presently showing in a few roots that turn green when watered, but I don't know if it will recover, and I will certainly learn more from there. There are about 30,000 species and 100,000 hybrids so I'm going to need a fairly large greenhouse. I find myself wondering at the potential of an orchid rescue shelter...

hmmm I understand the unicorn soap being useless yet pretty but, why is duck tape useless for you?🤣
no projects or things to repair?😁👍

hmmm useless last minute gifts, well I did receive Christmas cans and Christmas decorations a few days ago as Christmas presents did feel a bit useless for me since what I don't have room for putting out I'm putting up in totes😁👍
