In this sermon we get to understand the importance of having assurance of salvation, how you can have assurance, and how you can know you have assurance. From RC Sproul approaching his pension years 🙂

Key point to the sermon

People will know inside if there saved or not.

Which when you think about it, its suggesting the decision of knowing is more important than not knowing, and definitely something that comes from believing of being made to know by conscience for everybody and absolutely everybody by God.

From the speaker there is big request to seek that assurance of salvation.

There is definitely a way of having assurance of salvation. And there is a most definitely a call from God to seek that assurance of salvation through his word.

A bit of wit

There are four kinds of people in the world

There are those people who can count and those who can't, of course this is a bit of wit when adding up, but it certainly counts in adding up Gods word.

But we must not discriminate the four types of different people the speaker says with all conviction , 🙂

As the adding up is done by a state of conscience between the person and God.

A person can know there unsaved for sure by there conscience and vice versa.

Theres many good points raised

Here's the sermon

Ill see the vid..but first thought.. assurance of salvation isn't to do with your continual faithfulness..but whether you have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ.

'That ye may know ye have eternal life' in the book of John..

Based on John 3:16, 3:36, 5:24 , 6:40 etc

There is a very good reason there you've mentioned for knowing you need to seek assurance of salvation, but there's many reasons why.

So I would recommend this sermon first

Then the 3 in order of this thread post 1 2 and 3 etc upon request I can provide the missing two.

I will be happy to wait for your overall assessment,

I'll stick with the KJV.

Examining ourselves to make sure we are"in faith"

"In faith" is still not in Christ. The passage is not referring to one's salvation, but walk.

Who ever said it meant in Christ? I didn't.

No, the passage is referring to "our faith", our surrendered life.

Your not getting the point. If your trying to find out if your salvation is assured, you probably don't have it.

For someone "in faith ", in a personally surrendered life, self assurance would be no more than a fleeting thought that leaves as quick as it came.

I respect you asking the question and don't want to dump on you, but that flies in the face of true saving faith.
we are commanded by God to seek assurance

Thats what you've said, I'm just asking for scripture to support it.
Nope watch the sermon that wasn't in my first 3 sermons, which I put on hold for a reason. Plus read post 20 I cited a couple of verses there.

it's all here in this sermon, quotes the scripture, quotes the understanding, shows how the Roman catholics are against knowing people can have assurance.

Quotes the scripture that disproves the Roman catholic, hence why we are divided.

You know what people can call it reformed faith all call it Calvinism, I don't care, as reformed faith teaches having assurance is available for all, which preaches hope and assurance for all.

But Roman Catholicism preach having assurance is only available to saints who have had revelation, like there people who have been martyred. And not available for all.

Well I tell you what if that's going to be called calvinism I will ware the label and Jump up and down singing long live the Calvies. All day long

Here you go, do what a good roman Catholic does and reject it

ew International Version
Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble,

New Living Translation
So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away.

English Standard Version
Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall.

That's no assurance.. That's basing certainty of salvation on your behaviour.

There is a difference between eternal salvation and daily deliverance. Eternal salvation is a one time event, thru believing on the Lord Jesus Christ. Daily deliverance is the reasonable response to that eternal deliverance.

confirming your assurance produces works.

Diligently seeking his word, gives assurance, to your daily walk, the more you seek the more assurance you gain, because knowing your in a state of grace is a peaceful end to your life, as I well know, don't worry my assurance is full proof where some of the last words my mum said to me.

When you have assurance you are encouraged to do works, seeking assurance to know your faith is lining up with his word, is more assurance.

Listen fake assurance is looking for loop holes in his word

News flash, I'm not catholic.

News flash, I'm not catholic.
news flash I've had over 1000 scriptures rejected the way catholics reject scripture here.

News flash 1000 scriptures is an under estimate not a true estimate, I'm being kind.

News flash They've been rejected by fake assurance, on how principles of Roman Catholics oppose the protestant faith.

Sounds like you have an unhealthy problem with Catholics.
You should get that looked at.

That's funny, but no I have no choice but to listen to them here, there doctrines springs up a 100 times a day and get shoved down your throat.

And that applies to me how?
could do if you've been poisened by there doctrines of free will, and you haven't looked for assurance in his word, it could end up leading to all sorts of unhealthy assurance.

And some of them people would be in group 4 there unsaved but have there own assurance there saved.
