It's not happening. Russia is never leaving their people in Crimea/donbas. If I were him I wouldn't either.

Not if they don't perish because the war ends. Not if their cities are rebuilt, they have medical supplies and food and power.

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you want Ukraine back under Russian control? I mean, if you support that, it isn't bad in itself - I know the benefit of Russia taking back Ukraine (for Russia). But on the flip side I know personally that a lot of Ukrainians don't want to be back under Russian control. And that has it its own benefits to Ukraine, the EU and NATO.
Either way, America should stay out of it. I don't want any soldiers or money or supplies going to either side. I don't believe for a moment that any money or supplies is going to the war on either side. It's being funneled to something(s) else that we don't know about.

Basically Russia shipped a bunch of people into Donbas region. One part political refugees and part paid rabble rousers meant to destabilize the government. (Just like Soros did with ANTIFA supporters in the USA for the elections....claiming Black lives matter more)
So claiming that Russia is there to liberate Russians in Ukraine....very disingenuous.

I know the propaganda is strong against him, but Ukrainians really do prefer him over Putin. It's not really for us to decide for them.

A stable government doesn't have MASS military defections.

Most of what I said is recorded facts that Russia has openly admitted to....it's not exactly a secret. Just ignored open facts.
There's brigades of former Russian Soldiers running around in the northwest area of Ukraine just across the Russian border attacking military targets who say they are not attacking civilians. Putting up youtube videos....they are NOT a part of Zelenski army and they have their own agenda. (Which is why they were exiled to Ukraine from Russia)

Gotta know the who and the why over there....there's a lot of disinformation and even more cross purpose groups. This isn't American people with American culture and ideals....very different from the movies and anything that you might think.
All of that happened post "Revolution of Dignity". The government of which was installed by the Nuland/CIA spooks to clear the road to NATO membership. So as far as blame goes.....we are back to square one.
And it all reveals just how hypocritical and twisted and evil the UN is as an organization.
