Ummm Greencard family here. We got no benefits coming into the country. We had to have a SPONSOR.That meant that if we fell into any hard times, that sponsor would be responsible for us financially, not the gov't. We pay taxes just like any other American. We were told if we break any law we were out of the country for 10yrs, no questions asked. We had a devil of a time getting drivers licenses changed over, luckily church friends dragged us around till we got it settled. lol We are not allowed to vote. Compare this to the way illegals have been treated the last four or more years. We have come and lived by the laws of the country and understand we are guests until we are able to become citizens. And we paid no small amount for that much privilege. That's why people who cry over illegals make me so angry. I would love my aging parents to have all they have given to illegals. Shoot there are days when I think we should have come through Mexico instead of Canada. smh

Wonder also in part if it has to do with the simple math that once the wealth reaches a certain point - a critical mass - just a minor rate of return can run the numbers exponentially. Add to that the increase in base capital from the ongoing profit from successful business or investments. Add to that capitalized value, etc...
1,000,000,000 x 10% = 100m
100,000 x 10% = 10k
Honestly, the wealth is in numbers that were mostly inconceivable a few generations ago. But that's how math works.
The U.S. is a wealthier country. More wealthy people than the socialist countries because the socialists have pulled down the wealthy to give handouts. The more on welfare the more the unequality. I think it was Regan that said the problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other peoples money.
Yes this is the problem with these quick snapshots, because the other issue is the real purchasing power of the money over time.
I do think though that there is a widening gap, and really I do not see good evidence that cutting taxes on the super rich if they even pay taxes is going to solve the economic problems that exist presently.
