The reason I stated what I did:
Talking to God as I stated I would also say is worshiping God. When the Spirit is shown as pouring out the result is tongues magnifying the praises of God. Paul says no one understands, but God. As far as edification? Paul says this is prophesy.
The reason I made this distinction is because the full weight of 1 Co 12-14 is that we would pursue love. Love in regards to spiritual gifts when we are with people is desiring prophesy.
1Earnestly pursue love, and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, and especially that you might prophesy. 2For the one speaking in a tongue speaks not to men, but to God. For no one hears, but in the Spirit he utters mysteries. 3But the one prophesying speaks to men for edification and encouragement and consolation. 4The one speaking in a tongue edifies himself, but the one prophesying edifies the church.
Tongues does build us up in Christ. But prophesy builds others up in Christ.
Paul continues this illustration a little later in the same chapter of 1 Co 14.
23Therefore if the whole church gathers together in one place and all should speak in tongues, but uninstructed ones or unbelievers come in, will not they say that you are mad?
Paul says if we all speak in tongues only - no one understands and so those who don't know better, think we are crazy...
But prophesy is explained differently -
24But if all prophesy, and some unbeliever or uninstructed should come in, he is convicted by all, he is examined by all, 25and the secrets of his heart become manifest. And thus having fallen upon his face, he will worship God, declaring that God is certainly among you.
Prophesy leads people into encounters with the Living God among us.

You think Jesus came so we can have Scripture? Does ANY Scripture teach this? Do you truly think when the Bible says "completeness" it's talking about Scripture...?
Ask yourself the following questions:
What is God?
What fulfills the Law?
What is the Command of Christ for new believers?
What does Paul say we are and have nothing if we don't possess?
What is the first fruit of the Spirit?
What builds up and edifies the church according to Scripture?
What does Paul say that the more we know of, the more we are filled with God?

Gotcha, but what's cool in the New Testament is we all hear from God. As opposed to the Old Testament only the prophet did. That's why it's different.

1 Thes 5:19Do not quench the Spirit. 20Do not despise prophecies, 21but test everything; hold fast what is good.
Notice what it says.
1. Don't quench the Spirit
2. Don't despise prophesy.
3. But you test it and you keep only what is good.

I didn't watch the video, I am discussing Scripture. I don't look at what people are doing and are not doing to prove if Scripture is true or not. That would be unbelief.
Scripture teaches tongues is to God. Prophesy is to man. That's what I am focusing on. You can't really have a correct conversation about tongues without prophesy. And then you have that one verse that tells everyone to earnestly desire prophesy. I remember the day I read that. I said, okay God if you say desire it, give me it. I'll take it.

I literally yelled out, "Stupid!" when I watched his explanation of how "faith healers" grow out legs. My own sister had one foot shorter than the other about an inch, and she had always had problems with her hips. Well one day an evangelist prayed for her legs and the leg grew out to the length of the other before many people's eyes. She says still to this day she checks them, just in awe.
The problem with this logic is that in most of the videos of legs growing out they aren't wiggling the person's legs up and down like in the video in order to get the shoe back on. Thats where he messed up, the bouncing up and down doesn't happen in the videos. They literally hold their feet up and press somewhat firmly against the heels and then the leg matches the other due to God. This man's explanation is laughable, where as in the street healing videos you don't see any cues as to a trick.
The video says, "Posted for educational purposes". Yes, how to spot a fake, but if you compare his magic trick to that of genuine healing you can easily tell they look nothing alike. There is no bouncing of the legs in order to slide the shoe back on.

Yes that verse is why I believe that prophesy is tongues interpreted. So in a sense we are saying the same thing, but with a small distinction that I think is important in order to keep the exact truth of Scripture's teachings.

Yes mainly it is I also encountered it in english/german without tongues, but mainly interpreted tongues.

This is a great Scripture also compare this with the following, because as you read the Scripture you posted you come to the last verse which says his body (that's us) the fullness of HIM that fills all... knowing that check out this passage:
Eph 4:15Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.
If you can see it, this is actually another illustration of 1 Co 14.

Paul didn't actually correct other churches, he corrected churches he planted and he had oversight on.
1 Co 4:15 For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel.
A lot of people love to figure out what's wrong with other churches, but I don't live for that. I live to bring my own life into obedience of His good will. And those He brings to me, I disciple like He commands. That they also would be lead by the Spirit of God.
