Seeking signs and wonders (including tongues) is really a form of grumbling and complaining to God. What do you mean you may ask. Okay, I'll tell you.

In Numbers 11, the children of Israel complained and grumbled about the constant diet of manna. They weren't satisfied with what the Lord had provided for them. They still had one foot in Egypt. This angered the Lord and this was His response:

"Therefore the Lord will give you meat, and you shall eat. You shall eat, not one day, nor two days, nor five days, nor ten days, nor twenty days, but for a whole month, until it comes out of your nostrils and becomes loathsome to you, because you have despised the Lord who is among you, and have wept before Him, saying, 'Why did we ever come up out of Egypt?' "—Numbers 11:18-20

For many, God's word isn't enough. In the day to day of things they become bored and need more; they need a jolt of adrenaline. The reason for this, I believe, is because they're not sold out 100%. They still have worldly desires; God's word and the simple gospel by itself is boring.

"Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful."—Matthew 13:22

God's word is sufficient. If you're bored and want to complain to God that you need more, it's just evidence you still have a lot of the world in you.

"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name we cast out demons, and in Your name we did many mighty works?’ And then I will confess to them, 'I never knew you! Depart from Me, you who work iniquity!' "—Matthew 7:21-23

And Paul claimed it Edified us to be closer to God.

I think I will take Paul's writing about Edification over everything else.

The thing is, I was just praying in English. And then others were around me praying in English with their hands on me. And i don't know how, what, why, or even to explain it correctly, but I could not say words. I thought i was doing something wrong because I could not speak but wanted to pray more. I wanted the filling of the Holy Spirit. And people watching said my lips just started stammering and I thought I sounded like I was in labor giving birth as a man. And then suddenly, holy moly, it just happened. And when I began Speaking in Tongues, I forgot I was around people. I just got lost in my Worship to God and felt so connected. And now, when I praise and worship and pray, I can feel when it is time to Speak in Tongues and do so without effort.

Some will have the gift of tongues, some won't. The Bible says people have various gifts. No one argues over the other gifts, they argue over tongues because some morons that speak in tongues act like their gift is more special, it isn't. Same as any other of the gifts.

Correct and I have no idea where people got that twisted around. But cessionists have no Biblical basis that I can see. But they argue black and blue so I don't see the reason to try and change a closed mind and heart.

1st Corinthians 14 on tongues​

1. There are two different purposes for tongues :2, 3, 4,

A. Prophecy, which is spoken in an assembly :3

• For believers, not unbelievers :22
• Is for the edification, encouragement, instruction, and comfort of the assembly :3 – 5, :18 - 19
• Convicts unbelievers and the uninstructed :24 - 25
• Prophecy (over uninterpreted tongues) is the greater gift :1, 5, 12,
• It is only to be spoken if there is an interpreter :27 - 28

B. Tongues, which are spoken privately between the speaker and God :2

• For the edification of the speaker :2, 4,
• Allows the speaker to pray about unknown things :3, 4
• We may ask to self-interpret that our minds be fruitful :13 - 15
• Can be sung :15
• A sign to unbelievers :22
• Not to be spoken publicly, unless there is an interpreter :27 - 28

2. There is a correct time and place for each purpose :1 - 40

• Violating time and place constraints (such as speaking an uninterpreted tongue in an assembly) creates confusion and misunderstanding :6 – 18, 23,
• Worship is to be orderly :26 – 35, 40
• It is better to not speak, than to do so incorrectly :18 - 19

3. Paul wished we would all do it :5

4. We are to eagerly desire it :1, 38

5. We are to acknowledge this word as the Lords command, or be ignored. :36 – 38, 20 – 21

6. We are forbidden to forbid it :39

Paul said it brings Edification. I know when I normally pray, it seems a hundred ideas pop into my mind to keep me from praying. But I will listen to a true anointed song and it leads me into Praying in Tongues. So, the things I wanted to pray about in English that Satan was fighting me about, I believe gets said in Tongues where Satan can no longer interfere.

2 Weeks ago when 250 acres of my land was on fire and within 6 inches of my home and buildings like the pictures I shown, I did not feel my prayers were getting through in English. As I was walking through the fires, the blackness of the smoke, could not breathe or see, I began Speaking in Tongues and things just got clear. I found my dogs and released them, my horses, cows, llamas, cats, everything. I ran back, which this time the Angel that other 3 Believers confirmed, was side by side working with me. He was telling me that's a Strong Prayer, keep it up. I was Speaking in Tongues and had no idea what it meant, but the Angel said, That's a Strong Prayer keep it up.

So all i know, it WORKS and Angels understand it!

If you have attended as many Pentecostal church meetings as I have you will agree that what is seen in all of them is the habit of "SPEAKING" in Tongues.

It is a method of speaking in such a way that no one understands what is said.
No one interprets what is muttered.
Women it seems are the ones who do most of the "Tongues" noises.

Now, allow me to say that I have been there and done that. However as I grew older and actually READ what the Bible says it becmae very clear that what is seen today is NOT BIBLICAL tongues as recorded in the Bible.

So then, instead of just accepting what we have been told or doing what we WANT to do, shall we actually see what the Bible does it fact say??????

Acts 2:7-11............

"And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God." ​

Notice the phrase in Acts 2:11, "our tongues." The crowds heard the Apostles preach in their own native tongues, not some unknown heavenly jibber jabber. There was NEVER any heavenly languages spoken that no one understood and required an interpreter.

There is a drastic difference between Biblical tongues and the heretical speaking in tongues we see in churches today.

The "speaking in tongues" which the Pentecostals foolishly practice are UNKNOWN tongues, not anything found on earth. Supposedly, those unknown tongues can only be interpreted by ONE spirit-filled member of the congregation.

The Apostle Paul speaks common sense to us Corinthians 14:19...
"Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue."

Now before replying to this post from an "Emotional" response, and actually that is what speaking in tongues is, an EMOTIONAL event, take the time to do the work first.

Read 1 Corinthians chapters 12-14. Anyone can see that they are "Corrective" Chapters from Paul to the church and the CONTEXT is .....ready.....
Speaking in tongues".

Now that being the correct hermeneutical point then notice carefully chapter 14:34........
"Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. "

Literally....the CONTEXT demands that "women are not permitted to speak in TONGUES in church".

Without women speaking in tongues there is then in fact no tongues movement at all.

Socrates was right: the ills of the WHOLE WORLD are caused by those who THINK they know, when in fact, they DON'T.

Did you not read and understand:

1 Cor. 14:2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.

In other words, under normal circumstances, to listeners he or she is speaking gibberish. Plain and simple and end of story.

So what was different on the Day of Pentecost? Did you not read and understand? "And how hear we every man in our own tongue"
God added another miracle: He caused everyone to hear their gibberish in their own language. Just as Paul told us, they were speaking to God in unintelligible stuttering.

WHO creates these unintelligible sounds? GOD the Holy Spirit DOES. He (the Holy Spirit) creates sounds, attaches meaning to them, then passes the sounds to the human vocal chords and the sounds are then spoken.

What is happening then? God the Holy Spirit - who knows EXACTLY what to pray at all times - is created a prayer, using a born again believer's authority on earth to pray that prayer; then God the Father hears the prayer and ANSWERS IT.

Amazing that you wish to bash God's incredible plan to get the prayers HE WANTS to have prayed - get prayed.

As a side thought: someone praying in tongues may imagine he is praying in a new Lexus, but what he may well be praying is that he stop watching porn.

You are talking OLD Testament. We are no longer under that covenant.

For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged.

Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.

New Testament prophecy is on a different level that in the Old. Paul tells us ALL can prophecy. But because all can, others should judge.
