Are we not to be led in all things? Give what He says to give?
That can be hurtful to the heart if we hold something dear to us.

And greed and selfishness are not characteristics of the spiritual man or woman.
***Pastors live like Levites in the sense they "live" of and by the "temple"***as we give tithes and offerings we strengthen the Church, Missions, the Poor***sounds like the Gospel to me...I will tithe like an Israelite when my Church leaders live like Levites!!
That is incorrect.***Pastors live like Levites in the sense they "live" of and by the "temple"***as we give tithes and offerings we strengthen the Church, Missions, the Poor***sounds like the Gospel to me...

I tithe faithfully and sacrificially for 5 years between 2008 to 2013. I sunk deeper into debt and was thinking about bankruptcy. I stop tithing and was able to things around. I now have an emergency savings account, was able to buy a decent car and no longer live paycheck to paycheck. I even saved enough money to replace my furnace this fall! Explain that!
today, the church doesn't require money to be the church.
Tithing is still impossible since the dissolution of the theocratic Israel over two thousand years ago.
As for the congregations, a workman is worthy of his wages, therefore if your pastor is working and doing the work of God in Jesus Christ, make certain the parishoners give adequately, and also enough for the physical upkeep of your meeting place.
maybe a Starbucks
it's OK not to tithe
... And yet, Jesus is a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek and Jesus is still receiving tithes (see Hebrews 7 where verse 8 is referring to Jesus of Whom it is witnessed HE LIVES!)
Yes, the New Testament does not contain a direct commandment to tithe, but it is Jesus' will that we tithe since He is still receiving tithes... He doesn't receive things that are not His will.
Also, Jesus says to keep paying tithes…
"But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass by justice and the love of God. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone." - Luke 11:42, Matthew 23:23...
Two things: first, you've engaged in eisegesis with regard to Hebrews 7. It makes a comparison of Jesus to Melchizedek, and nowhere even hints that Jesus collects tithes today. I suspect you believe this way because a pro-tithing teacher taught you how to interpret that passage as you do. Further, if you claim that Jesus collects tithes, you must specify which ones. If we tithe as Abraham did, it would be on war spoils only.
Second: Your interpretation of Jesus's words to the Pharisees overlooks the verb tense, "should have". You've interpreted it as "should". They don't mean the same thing. Jesus knew that the old covenant was soon to be eclipsed. If you think that it hasn't been, you need to read Galatians and the rest of Hebrews.
The New Testament teaches giving: according to what we have, regularly, with a cheerful heart, for the needs of others and for the ministry, and sometimes sacrificially. Nowhere does it teach tithing, and they are not the same thing. Further, tithing was not mentioned at the council of Acts 15. Gentile believers, and in fact all believers, are not required to tithe.
I tried that. I ended up over giving and got in debt. I had to ask the church to help with a shut off notice. I had faith 100%, so I think there's something I'm not understanding about this situation. I don't know everything. But I know if you give God the money He gave you to pay your bills, it's not going to magically appear in the mouth of a fish. And shut-offs are real, and homelessness is real for those who don't pay their bills, faith or not.
That's a big problem.
Misunderstanding.
The Apostle Paul said to take care of yourself and your family first so that they will not be (a burden to the church(??).
10 % preachers don't teach those verses.
I totally agree with you.(Proverbs 3:9-10):
Pay tribute to Jesus in all of your affairs. Honor Him with the 'best' of what you make. That way you will prosper to the fullest and have plenty of food to eat and wine to drink.
