Time Lapse

[Poet-of-Ephraim]

The abacus of life: weekends and paydays,
Chasing our lives by sprinting the week dazed.
We scan our payslips with an acute aperture,
Yet walk right past an old unflipped calendar.
Watchful with money but spending time liberally,
Only counting its worth when we want a delivery.
Wasting days without mind 'til we get that sign,
But who cares, right…(Has anyone got the time?)

Getting that sign is our probably our first glimpse of wisdom.

It reads so well out loud. Very true and relevant, not to mention timely (I'm reading this on my morning commute!)
