Kafziel, It’s good of you to consider the morality of seeking enlightenment. Wisdom is indeed valuable, and the world needs its wise men. But as Christians, we recognize that true wisdom comes from God, who gives generously to those who ask in faith.
- “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” – James 1:5 (KJV)
I understand your desire to escape suffering—it’s a natural longing. Buddhism teaches reincarnation and the cycle of suffering, but Christianity offers a profound hope: a single life lived in faith in Jesus Christ, followed by eternal rest in His presence.
- “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” – Hebrews 9:27 (KJV)
The Buddha himself never claimed to be a god, and the teachings of reincarnation and enlightenment are man-made philosophies. Christians, on the other hand, trust in the divinely inspired Word of God and the promise of resurrection through Jesus Christ.
- “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” – 1 Corinthians 15:22 (KJV)
Rather than seeking to escape suffering, Christians are encouraged to view it through the lens of God’s purpose. Suffering can refine us, draw us closer to Him, and help us grow in faith.
- “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” – Romans 8:18 (KJV)
- “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.” – James 1:2–3 (KJV)
Kafziel, We live with the hope of Christ’s second coming, when He will make all things new, wipe away every tear, and remove all suffering for eternity.
- “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” – Revelation 21:4 (KJV)
Wisdom and salvation are gifts from God, not achieved by human effort. I would gently encourage seeking wisdom through prayer and trusting in His divine plan.
