I just saw a video calling out this Christian parody video. I watched it, but I didn't find it disrespectful... What are your thoughts on Christian parody songs? Personally, I enjoy them. As long as they're not rude or mocking and making fun of God/Jesus, aren't they more of a compliment to Him that we humans are making songs about Him and bringing more people to Christ? Not everybody is made the same way, so maybe some people start off not Christian, come across things like this, and then wonder who is Christ? I don't know how He works, but God can use it. And people start with spiritual milk before they get solid food. Not everything has to be so serious all the time. Christians can have fun and laugh too. I don't believe we should be making fun of other people nor making fun of God. That's when the world mocks and crosses the line with our Savior. That I agree is wrong. But if you haven't seen this music video, what are your thoughts on it? We all have different convictions about things, and maybe it's not your cup of tea. However, if you see something you believe crosses the line here, what is it? Maybe it's worth considering and repenting of, so feel free to share your thoughts if you disagree. It's not a church sermon, just a song. And yes, some songs are not good. I'm not feeling a conviction with this one though. We can't please everyone, but do you believe God is displeased with things like this? The church is diverse and we already know the wheat and the tares are growing together. When the disciples wanted to stop people who were not one of them from casting out demons in Jesus' name, Jesus said not to stop him because whoever was not against him is for him (Luke 9:50). There are churches teaching false doctrines, this parody may or may not come out of one (I don't know the church that produced it) but God will separate the sheep and the goats when he returns, so unless it's an unbiblical and truly disrespectful blasphemous song, which this doesn't seem like it is to me, then it seems like a case of let them. Some people celebrate and some don't. God knows who his sheep are and which sheep he's calling which are not of the fold yet. God can use even these things, both to attract the lost and to encourage those who already believe. The world is already a hard enough place. The Bible says believers should be united and that a cheerful heart is good medicine. When things get rough down here, sometimes you could use a lighthearted laugh and this is a great alternative to some of the things the world offers as humor. What do you think?
