Actually, is interpreted, as not committing murder, or homicide!
Sometimes however? Killing for a cause? Is not only acceptable? It's downright ingenious!

The command was made in regards to murder and not self-defense or members of the military serving their country.
I have been told the same among several different answers as well. But i have many times often.wondered that if this is true then why is it that none of this was present in any of the teachings of Jesus? He preached the contrary. He certainly had enough reaaons to teach his apostles to organize an army to protect themselves for what was to come for them. Everything He ever did and said was about being kind loving and forgiving. Turn the other cheek. Walk away. Love your neighbor as yourself and on and on. I say this because He is the foundation of christianity and all the teachings to being christians.

Jesus did say to soldiers to be content with their wages. He did not say to desert their unit or pursue a different career path. If someone intends to hurt my family I will do my best to end their life even at the cost of my own. I was also in the US military and swore an oath to defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic. In the military you don't have the option of turning the other cheek for an enemy that wants to harm your fellow citizens and perhaps your wife and children as well. Rather, the purpose of the military is to break things and kill people. Hopefully, it doesn't come down to that but this is a very evil world that we live in and there are those that intend to do harm. I see no spiritual reason to not defend your country or to protect the ones that you love.
Well the romans were not His apostles. And your answer does not answer the question of the teachings of Jesus. Again i ask why did Jesus not teach this?
I really don't believe that Jesus is a pacifist. There are a lot of specific things that are not taught in the bible but are inferred. That is why it Is best to pray for wisdom and knowledge and this adds up to common sense. The commandment is to not kill the context makes it clear that this pertains to murder and not self-defense.

He didn't "teach" killing, because, that isn't the reason the Father sent Him to do!
Jesus did "threaten", however!
Seems to me if His ministry here on earth was to teach us how to be towards one another and if what you say is a fact then again He never mentioned it. When His apostle cut the ear off a roman soldier He certainly didnt tell the others to draw their swords. No he told him to put it away and instead healed the soldiers ear back on. No i must disagree. He taught us to have His wisdom and not mans. He told us to follow Him and if we do there would be much persecution but our reward would be to be with Him in heaven.
Still looking for an answer as to why Jesus never taught any of this.

He didn't mention marijuana, sex change operations, abortion, driving speed limits, health insurance, gun control, birth control, how to treat pets , old folks homes, public education, socialism, capitalism, along with thousands of other specific subjects. Because we are to read the Bible, pray, and study , and be part of a fellowship of brothers and by learning and understand our personal and as a body relationship with him we should see these things for what they are and act accordingly.

You got it. Pray is a good answer. That is something Jesus did teach. Thats a good start.
Well no point in splitting hairs here. Im asking why Jesus didnt teach these things.
Matt. 5:21 is a quote from Jesus. He goes on to further elaborate when He adds, “
[22] But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment:
He then speaks of ones thinking relating to other offenses, so it is easy to conclude He was getting to the heart of the matter, what one thinks determines if their actions are acceptable to God, or not.

This is kind of a peripheral point, but I'm not sure that Jesus DID heal the guy's ear (and it says the victim--Malchus--was not a soldier, but instead a servant of the high priest).
The incident of cutting off the ear is recorded in all four Gospels, but only Luke says that Jesus touched the man's ear and healed him after calling off his disciples.
Just think about it--if they were arresting Jesus for blasphemy, saying He was God (or the Son of God)--and then he touches a guy's head and an ear that had just been cut off magically regrows, don't you think someone might have thought, "Whoa! Maybe He IS the Son of God! We should re-think this whole arrest business..."
So I dunno; maybe it happened and maybe it didn't, but if the soldiers and priests went through with a trial and execution after supposedly witnessing a miracle like that (and remember, all the Gospels are clear that Jesus went out of his way NOT to perform any miracles that would prove His claim of divinity during his remainder of His trial)--then they had a pretty big set of brass cajones.
