A saved person's spirit is sealed by the Holy Spirit, so their spirit is clean and cannot sin. They can still go after the flesh, and this is the dual nature.

In the NT these are the admonishments to sew to the Spirit and not the flesh. If a believer couldn't commit sin , there would be no admonishing from Paul, John etc..

See here is where we differ, you teach that once we are saved we better make sure we do enough work to keep saved. And if you make it then you'll have a reason to boast.
Please, if you say I teach the above, can you show me where I said that I believe this?

That's what the gnostics believed, they they never sin and have never sinned, but their body goes out and does sin sometimes.

Romans 7:14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin.
15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do, I do not do. But what I hate, I do.
1 6And if I do what I do not want to do, I admit that the law is good. 17 In that case, it is
no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

The crux of 1 John 1:9 is not that God's people don't sin, but, rather, that they are a confessing people. It is the acknowledgement of sin that is in view in the latter verses of the chapter. Those who confess acknowledge that they sin. Those who believe they have no sin do not confess and are, in effect, calling God a liar. The truth is not in them.

Gnostics take it to a different level and don't accept Jesus as God and Saviour.

But in the Bible.. at salvation a lost person is indwelt by the Holy Spirit. So their spirit doesn't sin. But they are still human and imperfect.

That's the dual nature

There is no "dual nature" taught in the Bible.

That's what the gnostics believed, they claim they have never sinned, but their body goes out and does sin sometimes.

Better not invite those claiming to have a dual nature over to your house because they could start doing a bunch of sinful things at any moment!

Then they'll say it was not them, it was just their body doing all that bad stuff

This is what thinking it's "you/us" that does the works after being saved equals to. If you believe God saves us then we can lose that salvation if we sin too much, or that we could even chose to walk away from our King once He has resurrected our spirits and reconciled them back to His, then this is exactly what you're teaching, even if you haven't said it the way I worded it doesn't invalidate my point. If you believe that God can save us by His grace and we can then be lost to Him, then that equates to exactly what I said. I do realize and admit that I've never seen you say "exactly" what I put in my comment, but that's so far outside the point I don't think it's at all relevant at all to this conversation. If you do not believe we can lose our salvation then I have to go back and reread everything to see if I accidently replied to the wrong person or something.

Many who hear this think "wow! I can keep living in sin and still be saved cause it's all good"
Precious friend, we do not know "what is in Many others hearts, and their thinking",
since we are not God, Correct?
I was poking fun at the false eternal security belief that leads many to believe they can live in sin and still be saved.
Mightn't it be "bad works" 'poking fun' At God's Sound Doctrine Of Eternal Salvation? Because of:

Christ's ALL-Sufficient Work On The Cross!

God Has The Following Sound Doctrines for All of His children:

God's OPERATION On All New-born babes In Christ!
+ Updates: (of # 11) + (of #14)
+
God's Eternal Life Assurance
+
God's Eternal Life Insurance

Which should:
"lead me and others [ Many or few? I wouldn't know ] to actually serve God
out of LOVE, and not fear of
'losing some unknown temporary salvation.'

Be Blessed.

Amen.

1 John 1:8-10~ If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the Truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar, and His Word is not in us.:)

Well, at least you are being honest and admitting that I did not say what you said I did.

My position is that I simply say what Scripture says and that is what I believe. I do not begin with a man-made doctrinal statement (in this case - OSAS) and then go to Scripture to prove it. Hence I believe as Paul says in Ephesians 2 that we are "saved by grace through faith, . . . not of works, . . .but we are His workmanship.

Jesus Himself taught it in the first century, as well as the apostles -- and that's bible doctrine.
John 3:16, 36; 5:24; 6:29, 37; 11:25-26; Romans 6:23; 8:1; 10:9-10, 13; Ephesians 1:7-14; 2:8-10; 4:30; Hebrews 9:12
Well, romans34, you're dropping Bible verses like confetti at a Reformed theology party! John 3:16, Romans 8:1, Ephesians 2:8-10 – it's like you're trying to give me a crash course in eternal security! I haven't seen this many verses since my last theological rap battle.

But you know, in the Calvinist carnival, we've got our own ride – the TULIP rollercoaster. Total depravity, unconditional election, limited atonement, irresistible grace, and perseverance of the saints – that's our theological theme park! It's like the Gospel's version of Disneyland, complete with theological fast passes for the elect.

And speaking of the elect, Calvinism's got this divine VIP list. It's like God's exclusive guest list – you know, the A-list of eternity. If you're in, you're in. It's like having a golden ticket to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, but better, because it's eternal salvation we're talking about.

Now, about those Bible verses you dropped – they're like the Calvinist greatest hits album. John 3:16 – the Calvinist remix is like, "For God so loved the elect..." Romans 8:1 – "There is therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, and by the way, they're the ones who were predestined from the foundation of the world!"

So, romans34, you're on the right track with those verses, but in the Calvinist comedy club, we add a bit of TULIP spice to the mix. It's like a theological gumbo – a bit of total depravity here, a dash of unconditional election there – and voila, you've got the Gospel according to Calvinism.

And remember, in the grand Calvinist finale, it's not just about starting the race; it's about finishing strong – perseverance of the saints, baby! So buckle up, enjoy the ride, and let the Calvinist Gospel party begin!
