Amen

“Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
‭‭John‬ ‭4:21, 23-24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

what I’m asking is does everything Moses taught about the sabbath apply to keeping it or no ?

Because remember what the law said about removing or adding even a jot or tittle to Moses words ?
Where does it say not a jot or tittle can be removed from Moses words?

This is referring to God- Moses is not God. Did the sacrifices end in the law of Moses?

God wrote God spoke the Ten Commandments, not Moses.

But what verse do you have in mind about Moses on the Sabbath

But you fail to acknolwedge that he’s speaking to the children of Israel who the covenant through Moses was made with. It has never been made with any other people in the world.
The Sabbath didn't start at Mt Sinai, it was made for man- the word Jesus used here means mankind. The Sabbath started at Creation Exo 20:11 when there was no Jew, just man. The Sabbath was part of God's perfect plan from the beginning because we need God's blessing and sanctification because man cannot sanctify themselves Isa 66:17 we need God for everything

Israel is just a name God gave to identify His people. We are grafted in God's Israel through faith Gal 2:26-28, its always been that way, read the story of Ruth in the OT

There is no sacrifices in the Sabbath commandment

I think this is very clear.

Exo 20:8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

The seventh day which is Saturday is the Sabbath and we are commanded to keep the Sabbath day holy.

Did it change in the NC?

Luke 23: 56 Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.
There is also no command in the sabbath 4th commandment to let their land rest every 7 years yet God drove them into captivity in Babylon for 70 years for not keeping a yearly sabbath on the 7th year. Which you of your own accord several times made note that the yearly sabbaths were not the weekly sabbath. You plainly made it known that the sabbaths were not as important as the weekly sabbath yet God sent them into captivity over it.

Because you lack to understand that man has to live by all the words that comes out of God's mouth and it is you that keeps making a false belief that handwritten exceeds, what was spoken then written, to God it is the same.

Which fear not for us that by your judgement that we will hear Christ say I never knew you. You have posted many times that Christ said whoever does not keep the least of commandments and teaches others to do so. They will be least in the kingdom. Going by your own words the worst that happens is not Christ saying I never knew you. Ours would be least in the kingdom which means we would be greater than all those in the old testament that kept the law.

As Christ said of men borne of woman there is none greater than John yet he that is least in the kingdom is greater than John. So fear not for us because the worst that can happen under your dogma is we just end up higher than those who kept the law. from Moses to John.

You're right, that is a different sabbath, not part of the Ten Commandments. God both spoke and wrote the Ten Commandments. He only placed the Ten inside the ark. All the other laws, were written by Moses in a book including the yearly sabbaths and 7 year sabbaths that have to do with giving fields a rest and if I was a farmer and had land, I would do this because most farmers do this to this day as it is needed. No one ever said all of the laws ended in scripture, just the ordinances is what is noted in scriptures, so before you start accusing me of things, you might consider just asking.

Can you post the verse you are referring to regarding the captivity in Babylon?

Here is a query I ran with a chat bot regarding the subject of this thread, as the warning says please check the accuracy of the response as the AI is subject to errors.

The query:
evaluate and identify the origin of bible positions of evangelical churches regarding sabbath the seventh day of the week and Sunday observance the first day of the week throughout recorded history

The response:

The positions of evangelical churches regarding Sabbath (the seventh day of the week) and Sunday observance (the first day of the week) have evolved significantly throughout history. Here’s a brief overview:

Early Christianity
Transition to Sunday Observance
Formalization of Sunday Observance
Reformation and Beyond
Summary
The transition from Sabbath to Sunday observance in Christianity was influenced by several factors, including the resurrection of Jesus, early church practices, and decisions by church authorities. While most evangelical churches today worship on Sunday, there are still groups that honor the seventh-day Sabbath, reflecting the diversity of Christian practice and interpretation.
Good to see someone else using AI to get a third party opinion on sabbath observance.

This article below was right. SDA's sure do seem to have a persecution complex.

3. SDAs Have a Persecution Complex

The entire philosophy of SDA teachings regarding end-time prophecy is that the wicked are going to unite with Sunday-keeping Christians to persecute SDAs. Catholicism is supposedly going to join hands with apostate Protestantism and Spiritualism, and this three-fold union is going to pass laws restricting the liberty of SDAs to worship on Saturday. Eventually, a death penalty will be passed for all who do not honor Sunday.

This frightening conspiracy theory has no basis in the Bible or in fact, but it is taught to children and new converts as if it were "gospel truth." As a result, SDAs operate in a constant state of mistrust and suspicion of other religions. Any positive statement made by a Sunday-keeping church leader regarding worship on Sunday is regarded as a "sign" of the end.

This delusional end-time scenario is referred to as the National Sunday Law. I remember vividly when SDA minister Jan Marcussen, author of a book on the subject, came to our church with a pile of newspaper clippings purporting to show the imminence of a national Sunday law. He solemnly held up his hand and declared to the congregation that it would happen so soon that a child could count the number of months. That was 34 years ago. Over 408 months have passed, and still counting! I have now been a Christian for over 39 years, and have met thousands of people from a multitude of denominations. To this day, I have yet to meet a single person who is even the least bit interested in persecuting SDAs for not honoring Sunday.

The primary danger of this delusional end-time scenario is that it will cause SDAs to misread the true signs of the end. It dupes SDAs into thinking that certain events must transpire prior to the return of Christ. For example, an SDA would expect Sunday laws to be passed prior to Christ's return. Therefore, an SDA may delay getting his heart ready for the return of Christ because he thinks he has plenty of time to make that decision because there are not yet any signs of imminent Sunday laws. Secondly, it feeds the "exclusive" mindset discussed above by creating an "us" versus "them" scenario. Finally, this impending conflict generates feelings of stress, and perhaps fear, in some people. The purpose and intent of Christianity is not to coerce people to join a religion out of fear. It is to share love, joy, and peace with people.

It's painfully obvious what you have placed your faith in for salvation and that is in your best efforts to obey the 10 commandments (with a heavy emphasis on the 4th commandment). Good luck with that! The standard is perfection (Romans 3:23) and salvation is found ONLY in Jesus Christ (John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 6:23) and not in law keeping. (Romans 3:20; Galatians 2:16; Galatians 3:10) Based on your multiple verses cited from the OT, it's obvious that you still have one foot in the old covenant plantation of law. Salvation is not found in what you DO (Romans 4:5-6; Ephesians 2:8,9; Philippians 3:9 etc..) but in what Jesus Christ has already DONE. (Romans 3:24-28; 1 Corinthians 1:18-21; 15:1-4) It's time to get off your high horse and place your faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.

In regard to John 3:18-21, believers practice the truth, come to the light and are not in darkness, but are in the light. Don't confuse 'descriptive' passages of scripture with 'prescriptive' passages of scripture.

Acts 26:18 - to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.

2 Corinthians 6:14 - Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion has light with darkness?

Ephesians 5:8 - for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light.

To "believe" in Jesus unto salvation is to place our faith in/trust in/reliance in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. Trusting in your best efforts to obey the 10 commandments as a means of salvation is not believing in Him but is believing in self. Moral self-reformation is not a substitute for regeneration. (John 3:3; 1 Peter 1:23)
I remember years back discussing salvation with a coworker that had similar views of a works-oriented salvation. When I quoted several verses that spoke of believing, he became upset, stood up and proclaimed, ”If it was that easy, anybody could get saved,” Then left muttering to himself.

And regarding you being cantankerous with Paul keep in mind that Mark and Luke were his associates as well as Peter, and Matthew muchly incorporated Mark so that only leaves John as someone whose writings Paul may not have been familiar with.

The seventh day which is Saturday is the Sabbath and we are commanded to keep the Sabbath day holy.

Did it change in the NC?

Luke 23: 56 Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.
God also said to keep the sabbath because he brought them out of bondage in Egypt. He was making it personal to them.

Reason being is God had promised Abraham he would build a nation. 3 important things are acknowledge by academia to have a nation.

A shared justice system. A shared culture. A shared history. God was nation building and gave them all 3 to build his chosen nation. He gave laws, he gave culture, he gave history. The sabbath was the first introduced weekend that is culture because he tied it to them being in bondage. He gave them the sabbath because he stopped his work, that is shared history.

Genesis the history of it was given after the law, God gave the law first then Moses wrote their history during the wandering. All the laws were for the reason to serve God as well as to build a nation which does require shared history and culture and a justice system.

Deuteronomy 4:5-8 Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it. 6Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people. 7For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for? 8And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?

Gods purpose was in the natural building a natural nation for the reason that Israel was to be a city set on a hill. So others would see and then seek to be joined to them which God in the law gave a way that they in our modern terms could become naturalized citizens.

He gave them the law and the sabbath was part of the law but the sabbath was also the first introduction of a weekend and was culture and history given by God so earthly nations could marvel at what God had done with Israel. For which to be joined with them.

In the natural he sought to gain converts by them seeing the law. Now we are a spiritual kingdom and God seeks converts not by us keeping the natural law, but, by this shall all men know you are my disciples because you love one another.

Are Paul's letters Paul's words or God's words? They are both.

Assuming you believe the law given at Sinai began with God but was given to Moses, the law, then, is a reference to Moses' words.

Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.

Using scripture to interpret scripture...

Till all of what is fulfilled?

Till all the law is fulfilled.

Then what marks the fulfillment of the law?

What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made

Did the Seed, who is Christ, ever say that anything is finished and fulfilled?

After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled...
So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

Notice that it says "knowing that all things were now accomplished"... I was not born yet, time still went on, etc. So this is not a reference to the end of world, this is a reference to the end of the old covenant.

The text infers that the problem was idolatry. They had this problem continually. That would fall under the purview of the first four commandments.
[Lev 26:30 KJV] 30 And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you.

I do not believe you are interpreting this verse correctly

1 Cor 36:20 He carried into exile to Babylon the remnant, who escaped from the sword, and they became servants to him and his successors until the kingdom of Persia came to power. 21 The land enjoyed its sabbath rests; all the time of its desolation it rested, until the seventy years were completed in fulfillment of the word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah.

It doesn't say because they broke the 7 year sabbath they were taken into captivity, because they were taken into captivity and into Babylon their land stayed desolate and kept the sabbath (rested)

We are already told God's Truth and His righteousness which is everlasting. Anything different is typically a misunderstanding of Paul's writings hence 2 Peter 3:15-16
I don't think Paul mentions the word "sabbath" once in twelve letters he wrote.

The only time Paul mentioned the "sabbath" was in Colossians 2:16 but that was a warning.

Not to let the SDA judge you for not observing the sabbath (my interpretation).

This is a clue that the apostle to the Gentiles is not proclaiming a sabbath observance.

Surely the greatest command in the ten would appear in his letters some where.

That is not my argument. The captivity was for a period of 70 years. It was that long because they did not let the land rest for a little over 490 years. So 490 divided by 7 equals 70. The land was given rest for 70 years to make up for the unkept sabbaths concerning it. To which I then say you are foolish to believe that the weekly sabbath is of higher importance than any of the sabbaths because to God it is all his word and he does not make a distinction between what he wrote on stone or spoke.

You have made a religion out of the sabbath is the long and short of it.

It doesn't say this

"It was that long because they did not let the land rest for a little over 490 years"

Thats not the reason they were held in captivity. That was the result of their land after being held in captivity.

God made a religion out of Sabbath-keeping why you can find it all throughout the entire bible. A Christian is a follower of Christ. Christ kept the Sabbath, God kept the Sabbath, His faithful followers kept the Sabbath as did the apostles as that is what a follower of Christ does. Why Jesus said follow Me, I am the way, and not anyone else.

God wrote God spoke the Ten Commandments, not Moses.

But what verse do you have in mind about Moses on the Sabbath
here for one when he’s explaining how the covenant was made between them and God and what it meant

“Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you.

Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.

Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people. specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children. And ye came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness. And the LORD spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice. And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.

And the LORD commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go over to possess it.

Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that the LORD spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire: But the LORD hath taken you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, even out of Egypt, to be unto him a people of inheritance, as ye are this day. Furthermore the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, and sware that I should not go over Jordan, and that I should not go in unto that good land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance: but I must die in this land, I must not go over Jordan: but ye shall go over, and possess that good land. Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which the LORD thy God hath forbidden thee. For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God. When thou shalt beget children, and children's children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke him to anger: I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭4:1-2, 5-6, 10-15, 20-26‬ ‭KJV‬‬

look now at Hebrews here

“For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, and the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which voice they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more: (for they could not endure that which was commanded, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart: and so terrible was the sight, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:)
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:18-21‬ ‭

“but ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, and to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:22-24‬ ‭KJV‬‬

i feel as if you are not reading the scriptures I’m replying then claiming they dont exist but just looking for a verse that seems to support the sabbath ….you can then reply back

which again to be clear people still keep the sabbath and believe it’s important and there’s nothing wrong with that it’s a blessing for them to honor God that way if tbey do no deed honor the law he made regarding it through Moses with israel . but they need to keep it if that’s thier faith. Otherwise it makes them feel guilty because they have created a yoke and law they didn’t need to add . My position is Roman’s 14

One man esteemeth one day above another: ( that’s you )

another esteemeth every day alike. ( that’s me )

Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it…..
‭‭Romans‬ ‭14:5-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We walk by faith but God will judge us by our beliefs and actions

“For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, And every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭14:11-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The error is to insist upon it being Christian law ,and that others must keep it because it isn’t now required and never has been. Believing the gospel is required of anyone

the law is a covenant between God , the children of israel ( Jacob) and thier promised land.

Maybe someday again in eternity it will be restored in a new earth ( I suspect bit tbat I do not know ) , but in Christ it is not a requirement for any man but in the covenant he made with Israels children through Moses mediation from Sinai it’s a huge deal regarding his chosen people in that testament who later rejected thier covenant and defiled and broke it making it the curse he warned it would be to them if they did that.

But so was Passover , circumcision , day of atonement , drink offerings burn offerings tithe offerings sin offerings daily sacrifices levite priestly presence , ect ect ot is its own covenant based upon the Ten Commandments made between god and Israel own blood preists word mediator miracles and wonders to establish lush it before the people , twelve chosen men in each to carry on and become the hiers ect

The answer is simple there are to major covenants one is given through Moses specifically to the children of Jacob it’s a pattern when he delivered them from slavery in Egypt that law and the entire book of Moses was thier covenant word between they and God . There was a different preisthood also appointed to the law Aaron and his sons . And u see them was it given

the law and whole order has completely changed from angels to Moses to Aaron and his sons . To Jesus and his apostles and prophets and teachers ect ect

“For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭7:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

from Moses mediation by his word governing the ot , and then Jesus came preaching the new covenant first to Israel then to all people through his apostles.

never sent to preach Moses words to the people but Jesus words to everyone . We can try to know God by ten rocks goven to hard hearted stuff necked rebels or by his only begotten sent to save us and preach the truth , the gospel is the right choice

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5:20‬ ‭

Ten Commandments were how they knew God but now we have the gospel

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;

but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭16:15-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

notice it doesn’t say “ Go preach the Ten Commandments goven from sinia ? “ bit the gospel ?

It doesn't say this

"It was that long because they did not let the land rest for a little over 490 years"

Thats not the reason they were held in captivity. That was the result of their land after being held in captivity.

God made a religion out of Sabbath-keeping why you can find it all throughout the entire bible. A Christian is a follower of Christ. Christ kept the Sabbath, God kept the Sabbath, His faithful followers kept the Sabbath as did the apostles as that is what a follower of Christ does. Why Jesus said follow Me, I am the way, and not anyone else.
Leviticus 25:2-4 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a sabbath unto the LORD. 3Six years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof; 4But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the LORD: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard.

Leviticus 26:34-35 Then shall the land enjoy her sabbaths, as long as it lieth desolate, and ye be in your enemies' land; even then shall the land rest, and enjoy her sabbaths. 35As long as it lieth desolate it shall rest; because it did not rest in your sabbaths, when ye dwelt upon it.

II Chronicles 36:20-21 And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia: 21To fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.
