It does. But Jesus is our Sabbath. So...to keep the Sabbath is to rest in Him...Matthew 11:28-30.
From the resurrection to the destruction of Israel was an intercovenantal time. There was a transition from the old to the new covenant. So while things were in transition, we find some of the old covenant being practiced. But in Acts 20:7, we see the church meeting on the first day of the week. Either Paul got it wrong, was a heretic, or this was always the plan.
Also, in Matthew 28:1, the word week and Sabbath is the same word. So it could be translated...In the end of the Sabbaths, it began to dawn on the first of the Sabbaths.
Additionally, God rested from His finished work of creation on the 7th day. Jesus completed the work of the new creation on the first day of the week. If your Sabbath doesn't end in Christ, you missed the Sabbath no matter which day you choose.
Burial - Matt 27:57 "as evening approached", Mark 15:42 "It was Preparation Day (The Next day was a high day, an annual Sabbath) So as evening approached", Luke 23:54 "It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin", (Same reference to the High Day or annual Sabbath not the weekly 7th day Sabbath.) John 19:42 "Because it was the Jewish Day of Preparation..." Jesus was buried as evening approached before the next day began, because it was a High Day an annual Sabbath.
Resurrection - Matt 28:1-6 (1) ... at dawn on the first day of the week (6) He is not here he has risen (this statement is in the past tense, already done. It does not imply he rose Sunday morning.) Mark 16: 1-6 (6)"...He has risen" (States the same thing, past tense already done.) Luke 24:1-6 (6)"He is not here, but is risen ... " (States the same thing, past tense) John 20:1-16 (1) Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark (all the information given in John)
Q. If Crist was buried in the evening just before sunset and for exactly 3 days (72hrs) how did he rise in the morning?
Christ was place in the tomb on the 4th day of the week in the evening just before sunset because the following day was a High Day / Annual Sabbath. So, three full days would put his Resurrection on the 7th day in the evening just before sunset and the new day Sunday started. This is the way Scripture lays it out!

I don't believe 3 full days is necessary. Any part of the day would suffice.
And you conveniently didn't deal with the Sabbath purpose. To ignore the purpose of the Sabbath is to misunderstand it's timing during the week.
You also failed to address the transition in covenants and Paul gathering Christians on the first day of the week.
That cannot fulfill the idea of "three days and three nights" though and it makes a mockery of the OT example Christ cited about a man in a whale which wasn't one day and a few hours of two other days.
What do you do with the verse covering the convo Jesus and the two on the road to Emmaus had after His resurrection:

Acts 20:7 says, "first of the weekS" (so, a particular time of year--the "weeks"); sure it probably was the first day of those (also), but this passage (as I see it) isn't saying "every" as in a prescriptive...
I agree. But offerings were also to be set aside on the first day of the week. And even if it isn't prescriptive, it was certainly a practice that isn't spoken against anywhere else in scripture.
Please explain how you derive the, 'annual Sabbath', from the text below?
John 19:31
Now then, since it was the day of preparation, to prevent the bodies from remaining on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews requested of Pilate that their legs be broken, and the bodies be taken away.
We know that the Sabbath above is a weekly Sabbath because it has a Preparation day.
Further, we also know that the day after that Sabbath in John 19:31, is the first day of the week.
Where you make a serious mistake is in the definition of the Sabbath. God rested on the seventh day!
See if you can follow the simple three day sequence from Luke's Gospel.
Luke 23,24
It was a preparation day, and a Sabbath was about to begin. Now the women who had come with Him from Galilee followed, and they saw the tomb and how His body was laid. And then they returned and prepared spices and perfumes. And on the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment. But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared.
Your tangled and twisted interpretation directly contradicts Luke's account.
That's not the way scripture lays it out. That is the way your interpretation lays it out.
Jesus rose on the third day according to Paul.
1 Corinthians 15:4
And that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.
Not after the third day, on the third day!
No where in the New Testament does it state Jesus was placed in the tomb on the fourth day.
You desperately need a three day, three night, burial and resurrection.
Unfortunately, Paul says Jesus rose on the third day and not after the third day.
You directly contradict Luke and Paul.
Mat_12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
