Alvin Bragg's team claimed that NYC is about average nationally when you look at homicides per capita. I would like to point out that this is nothing to brag about for the following reasons:
1. There is an economy of scale. NYC has one of the most concentrated population densities in the US. If you were shot in many areas of NYC you should be able to expect a cop car is within 3 blocks of your location. That is not true anywhere else in the country except for a few very specific locations. You are also likely to be within 5 minutes of a hospital. Both of these factors should have a very big impact on lowering the homicide rate. Criminals know they have 60 seconds to shoot their guns and then get rid of them before being nabbed by the cops. That should be a huge advantage to NYC over everywhere else in the country.
2. NYC and other major cities have installed microphones around the city that can locate a gunshot immediately. They don't need to wait for a 911 call. This is another huge advantage over other locations.
3. There are cameras and people everywhere in the city so if a gun is fired you will be able to get lots of photos, they might not actually show the crime but should result in many leads that would be very helpful immediately.
When you look at these three advantages it seems you would easily be able to stop most homicides and those that you don't stop you would be able to prosecute and imprison the perpetrator. Yet everyone knows that NYC is dangerous and dirty. Why? It is because of the corruption. You have million dollar budgets with all kinds of kickbacks and people who have their fingers in the pie.

Wow, I didn't even know this was happening! I'm glad those two got caught. I wonder how they found about these two? It's bad enough that China had always had tyrants ruling the land, but being able to come after people trying to get away from them is just really next level evil. Please pray for Asian people. You see how oppressive it can be over there. If not traditions having such a strong influence on them, there's also very controlling and/or corrupt governments over there. It's no wonder there aren't as many Christians in Asia, but we need God as much as anyone else!

There can be an economy of scale in the criminal justice system for a large city like New York City (NYC). A larger population and concentration of people can allow for greater specialization and division of labor within the criminal justice system. For example, there may be more specialized units within law enforcement agencies, such as a dedicated gang unit or counter-terrorism unit, which can be staffed with highly trained and experienced officers.
In addition, larger cities may have more resources and funding available to invest in technology and equipment, such as advanced crime analytics and surveillance systems, which can aid in crime prevention and investigation. Furthermore, larger cities may be able to negotiate better deals with suppliers and vendors due to the larger volume of goods and services they require.
AI could certainly help. For example, we know that fifth or sixth grade is where kids can get roped into gangs. If the police were monitoring attendance at school you can use "educational neglect" to swoop into children from 5th through 8th grade who are showing very poor attendance. This way the police could pick up kids on the gang corners, identify them, monitor them, and after the second or third warning put them into the boarding school. What you would need is a boarding school in NYC, perhaps in Staten Island, removing them from the neighborhood they are familiar with but close enough to where they could go home on the weekends or have their parents visit on the weekends. It would have to be funded by the city, including meals, but if you did this you could easily starve the gangs from getting new members. So although this would be an expense, it would be cheaper in the long run than the cost that a kid growing up in a gang can inflict on the city.

Jonathan attacked the Philistines' garrison, And the news of it spread to every nation. Saul blew the trumpet for all to hear, And Israel's people gathered near.
But thirty thousand chariots of the foe, Six thousand horsemen, and a multitude below, Camped in Michmash, ready to fight, And the Israelites trembled with fright.
Distressed and hiding in caves and rocks, They prayed for help, as they faced the shock. Some had fled to Gad and Gilead, But Saul remained, his people filled with dread.
For seven days, they waited for Samuel's return, But he didn't come, and their hearts did burn. Saul grew restless and decided to pray, And offered the burnt offering, come what may.
As he finished, Samuel came into sight, And Saul rushed to greet him with all his might. But Samuel saw what Saul had done, And said he had failed to obey the Lord, the One.
Samuel said that Saul had done foolishly, And that he'd lost his chance to reign successfully. God had found a man after His heart, And Saul's kingdom would soon depart.

In all the land of Israel, no smith was found, For the Philistines had forbidden swords to be around. So the Israelites went to the enemy instead, To sharpen their tools and weapons, in dread.
The day of the battle came at last, And the Israelites had no swords to grasp. But Saul and Jonathan had weapons, indeed, And with them, they'd fight, and they'd succeed.
