It's only unorthodox to you. Does that mean that you find Spiritual things foolishness? You completely misunderstand Romans 1.Are Christians able to backslide? Sure but restoration is theirs for the asking.
Unsaved folks who have no interest in the Truth when confronted with the Light turn away and return to condemnation. Some folks will not give up their sin because they love it . Some Christians will not give up their heresy because they love it.

The unregenerate natural man only has faith in man, and his accomplishments. He cannot discern the things of the Spirit, and thinks them to be foolishness, 1 Cor 2:14. There are no steps for the natural man to take to become spiritual, because he is spiritually dead at the time that he is quickened to spiritual life by God's sovereign grace. Eph 2.

Christ died to pay for the sins of all of those that his Father gave him. Once their sins were forgiven, God looks upon them as holy, and without blame. Repentance does not apply to the unregenerate natural man, because he will not repent of breaking a spiritual law, that he does not understand, and thinks it to be foolishness. Restoration (repentance) is definitely there for the asking, for the regenerated man, such as those in Romans 1.
Whosoever is born of God doeth not commit sin (as far as his eternal deliverance is concerned), for his (Christ) seed remaineth in him, and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 1 John 3:9.

No, I am disputing that God can, and does override man's choice when it comes to his being born again to a spiritual life.
It won't make any difference to you because your system has a fail safe were words can be manipulated to mean whatever the paradigm requires .

Your problem is that you avoid the scripture that do not fit your theory. If you would just go by the scriptures and let them prove themselves you might be able to see the truth that is revealed therein.
