This thread goes out to all my fellow book lovers/book worms. I thought it would be fun if we shared our favorite books or authors or even quotes and poems here. New reading material is always appreciated.

Favorite Books:
-The Perks of being a Wallflower.
-Looking for Alaska.
-Paper Towns.
-An Abundance of Katherines.
-The Fault in our stars.
- Vampire Academy (entire series)

Of course this list changes quite often for me because I am always reading and the more I read, the more books I fall in love with. What's your favorite book? (This bookworm is looking for her reading material)

My daughter (17) has read all but the bottom book series in your list, and loved them. We have a signed DFTBA poster framed in our livingroom. :D

Critique of Pure Reason - Immanuel Kant
Paradise Lost - John Milton*
Tractatus - Ludwig Wittgenstein
Pilgrim's Progress - John Bunyan
Stages on Life's Way - Kierkegaard
Mere Christianity - C.S. Lewis
You're Stupid, how to argue effectively - Jeff Smith
Please Understand Me II - Keirsey

*Paradise Lost is my favorite book.


I'm not much for "Literature" and I can't stand Shakespeare. Iambic Pentameter is truly annoying.

I never got into Popular Fiction like Stephanie Meyer or J.K. Rowling or Stephen King or Tom Clancy.

Also Les Miserables is tedious but, I like the Super Abridged versions. The Audiobook makes for a great Anesthetic Induction.

"The Art of War" I've been seeing positive reviews from this book. I bought it perhaps today I will finish it.

lists like these are the bane of my existence. i hate choosing favorites-- it seems as they change often (or rather, re-orders themseveles)...

several of my faves have already been referenced, so here are a few more off the top of my head. i'm sure i'm forgetting ones that i should include.

i'm not listing works because i'd be here a lot longer--hard to choose.

immanuele kant (and really, most (if not all) of the "sublime" contributors)
edmund burke
wordsworth
mark twain
emily dickenson - i have a special affinity for her writings. maybe it's the gardening thing?

i like james herriot's books as well - always have.

a decent amount of my reading is in the realm of nonfiction.

i also love biographies, perhaps especially the pioneers and players in study of the mind/behavior, early and modern psychiatry, as well as their biographies-- jung, rorschach, etc. as well as "founding fathers" and world leaders.

i have some really old readers and dictionaries. i find these utterly fascinating.

for modern christianity, one of my favorite christian nf writers is tim kellerman. there are several i like, but i got hooked on keller via counterfeit gods. i've read a number of books of his now, and i've enjoyed them all on some level.

I love reading but don't do nearly enough of it as I used to. I love The Circle Series by Ted Dekker.

I've seen many "book nooks" on Google and Pinterest that make me want to build my own house and put those in there!

No! Not in order, this is listed randomly and no where near to being my complete list of favorite authors, these are just some off the top of my head since if I were to list all there would be so many that people refused to read my thread! haha :p

Always been a big bookworm myself. I have enjoyed some modern pop fiction like Harry Potter,various Michael Crichton, some of the Dan Brown stuff before he got too weird for even me, etc. Though I myself have always been moreso fond of the older works of literature. Much of my list be the classics of the 20th century literature, Ancient Literature, and a hodge-podge of History. This is a big reason why I like the Bible, which is merely a compilation of many different Ancient texts handed down and copied faithfully throughout time tiself and were I to make a list many of its books and authors would surely deserve top spots in it.

However I am assuming this topic is moreso on books besides those in the Bible so here is a list of some of the books I have read that I can remember best off the top of my head that I recommend to anyone that is a fan of reading. Though I would urge some caution as some of the books is very mature content:

Ya it is interesting no doubt, though I think some may find it offensive as it is a satire of Creationism.

Though keep in mind that was what Vonnegut was; a satirical writer. I would recommend if you read Breakfast of Champions (satire on Creationism with the Author serving as the deity) to also read Galapagos (which is a satire of Evolution told from the point of view of seal-people explaining how their human ancestors arrived and became stranded on Galapagos Islands.)
