It appears Catholics believe Mary remained a virgin. This is not supported in the Bible as brothers and sisters are clearly referred to.
Actually, a question to consider is, why didn't she remain a virgin? After the incredible experience of bringing forth God Himself, it would have been logical.
It's worth shining a light on this. She was the most important woman who ever lived. The vessel by which Jesus came into this world. You might imagine her fulfillment to be total without going on to, we presume, marriage and further child bearing. Did Joseph marry her whilst pregnant with Jesus? What would she have told her family and her community about her eldest son? It is an interesting scenario.
Actually its not just Catholics (and Orthodox Christians) who believe Mary remained a virgin, but many Protestants too.

My Reformed church for instance subscribes to the Second Helvetic Confession, which states that Jesus was born of the ever virgin Mary. You can search it.

And the brothers and sisters of Jesus could be cousins or siblings from previous marriage of Joseph. The Greek word for brother was used for cousins too, and this wouldnt be strange in ancient Israel since families were very tight knit there.

Interesting. Yet if it had been so, it would perhaps have been made clearer in the Bible. Since Joseph is never mentioned again we must assume he wasn't interested or had died. So she would have been a widow with just one son.
We see her again in Acts, sitting in the upper room with the disciples as the Holy Spirit sweeps through them. It's strange she is not mentioned very much.

There wasnt probably a need for distinction since as I told families were much more united in ancient Israel than in the modern west.

Joseph is assumed to have died before Jesus started his ministry by many theologians.

You are correct.. Mary never remained a virgin but had a normal husband / wife relationship with Joseph after Jesus was born.. The false catholic religion is in rebellion against the clear scriptures on this issue..

Actually, a question to consider is, why didn't she remain a virgin? After the incredible experience of bringing forth God Himself, it would have been logical.
Why ask this? All that was needed was for her to be a virgin for Jesus to show that Jesus was not a son of a man but the Son of God..

Well Mary went with Joseph to Bethlehem to take part in the census.. So one can rightly assume that they where married before Mary gave birth to Jesus.. The Bible does not reveal what was said between Her and her other relatives apart from Her Visit to Elizabeth..

I have always imagined him to be young like Mary is likely to have been. Thus he wouldn't have been cynical. We can but conjecture.
Remember an Angel came to Joseph in a dream and allayed His concerns about Mary.. So He would not have been cynical about the circumstances of Jesus origin..

Scripture makes it clear that the ever virgin doctrine is a lie..

(Matthew 1:24-25) "Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: {25} And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS."

The Word till is just a shortened word for Until. and ""Knew her"" is clear biblical speak for carnal knowledge.. So after Mary had birthed Jesus,, Joseph and Mary had a normal married life.

The word until doesnt necessarily mean that she lost her virginity afterwards.

When its said that Christ must reign until he puts all his enemies under his feet, does it mean he will stop reigning after doing that?

You can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink...... The scripture i gave was clear but loyalty to church dogma foces them to refuse to acknowledge it.. The cult of mary is too strong in some..

Regarding the concept of the Title, Holy Spirit indwelling; IMO, the Holy Spirit resides within our hearts. Not especially in our fingers or big toes, or such, Seriously,

Regarding "purity." Of course it is important. However, again IMO, purity of the heart is far more important than the physical shell that our eternal spirits reside in.

I was asking a question and you refused to answer. Seems the hate of anything that can remind of Catholicism is too strong in some.

my comment is simple: the most respect i can think of for a woman is that she remained pure before marriage. i just see that as special & highly commendable.

He did not show any hate for Catholics. He argued against a specific doctrine.

You asked a question and i gave you the answer but your loyalty to your church stopped you from accepting it.. And yeah as an ex catholic i do hate that false religion which is leading many people to Hell.. I hate people going to hell.. I want people to have eternity with the LORD,, But that's hateful to some people right...

None of us knows for sure where we are going. I don't concern myself with what others want to believe, arguing isn't going to do any good.
I just pray for myself and leave everyone to their path.

She was the most important woman who ever lived.
Jesus pretty much rebuked the woman who said to Him, "Blessed is the womb that bore you." It is the same
mistake the RCC makes, to elevate Mary above other women when she is simply blessed among women.

So will Christ stop reigning after these events?
We will all be family after the final judgement.. There will no longer be any subjects.. We shall be transformed adopted Children of God..
