Some call them promises :) For surely they will all be true for us in the life come :D

For now, they show us how to love ;)
I like your answer and must admit that I had not thought of the Commands that way -- using those words. I fear, however, that many are not willing to think that deeply about them. I have read the words of so many who want to disqualify them as irrelevant now. It is hard to imagine why.

It was many years ago when I first heard the commandments described as promises, and I liked that :)

Surely it is true :D Also, if we do not bear false witness or murder or covet, etc...

These are ways of not only loving others, but ourselves as well (y)

For we only get in trouble and suffer if/when we break them :geek:

We cannot keep the 10 commandments in our fallen state, no.
Yes, we must keep the Law.
Yahcubs777, what do you believe you cannot keep? Even the obvious and simple Law as written in Exodus 20? Or the Law as explained throughout the whole Bible? Thanks.

I would say they are relevant, but if we use them as a guide on how to be righteous, well they were not given for that reason, they were given to expose our sin not show us how to stop sin

In my mortal state, i am not able to keep them perfectly. For example, as man it is difficult to not lust after a beautiful woman. Even though I am married, if i see a beautiful women, sometimes i can't help but think of her in that way. This, according to Jesus His Pre-Eminence, is breaking the Law and I have committed adultery with her in my heart.

The ten Commandments are the moral law God has given to us to show two things concerning the law

1. how to love God

2. how to love man

The context of salvation the law provides us the understanding we have broken the law and are to receive the judgment for breaking them = death and separation from God. The law produces NO GRACE only judgment. By God's law, we are all guilty.

No one can keep the law of God " all have sinned, and fallen short of the glory of God". Rom. 3:23 There is none righteous no not one Rom. 3:10

Jesus did for us what God and the law required, Blood and death.

God is Holy and sin from the beginning affects others something had to die for Adam & Eve to be covered read in Genesis.
God is also loving and merciful and that is why HE took our punishment and judgment onto Himself, To Him be all the glory.

One cannot keep what you have broken once, only judgment.

But as a born-again believer you keep the Ten not because only God said do not do or to do, YOu do so because You love Him and your neighbor. Jesus said To Love the Lord thy God with ALL. Doing so you keep all of them. In Christ, He has removed your transgression of the law and took unto himself your judgment. This is why the devil is so mad. God did for us what HE would not do nor will do for the devil and his angels :)

The devil aka satan the accuser comes before God saying " You so holy and judged me yet you left CS1 slide!

Jesus my mediator Has the testimony and evidence HE took my payment therefore Devil You still going to hell but not me :)

hub and I for sure agree with your (1. & 2.)
plus here's a (3) =
by keeping the REST of God's Holy Commandments, which He says He has written upon our hearts,
will keep us out of all kinds of woeful troubles, even JAIL!!!
we both speak from our individual, younger days experiences, for we both broke one of His LAWS, and
went to jail for a few days...

Okay. Let's start here with your own question. :) What was finished?
===============================================
What was finished had absolutely NOTHING to do with The Ten Commandments -
MATT. 5:18.
For verily I say unto you, (Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the Law, till all be fulfilled).
when Christ says, 'It is 'finished', He is speaking of His Sacrifice that pays for our PAST SINS, and indeed can PAY for the
sins of the whole world -
ROM. 3:25.
Whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness
(for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God);............
but, if/when we sin NOW, we have an INTERCESSOR', who personally goes before His Father and ASKES
for our forgiveness, because HE has PAID the ultimate price by His Death, and we are now saved by His Life
through the Priesthood of Jesus Christ, our High Priest -
as it is written;
ROMANS 5:10.
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more,
being reconciled, we shall be saved by His Life.

What you posted was good but I would say that If JESUS had not nailed the law to the cross man couldn’t have been saved to GOD WHO IS PERFECT and loves righteousness.

It was the law that kept man from being able to be saved and JESUS came to fulfill what no other man could. (talking about the law)

He nailed the 'ordinances' -
COL. 2:14.
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way,
nailing it to His cross;
(ordinances), according to Strong's, means, (DOGMA) - Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us,
which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
The Ten Commandments, NO where is Scripture are EVER REFERRED to as 'dogma'...

exactly!!! the ordinances (dogma) can be words from 'many sources' -
so, YES...
I’ma push the question by asking you ,when JESUS nailed the ordinances of the law to the cross weren’t the ordinances part of the law?

I mean wasn't the law dogma In the old testament?🙂

MATT. 5:17.
Think not that I am come to destroy the Law, or the prophets: I Am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18.
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth (((pass))), 'not one jot or one tittle' shall in no wise pass from the Law,
till all be fulfilled.
so, we are not to even think in terms of the Law being 'done away with', for as Paul says,
'it is Spiritual and Holy'. - but, what IS NOT Spiritual and Holy was Jewish Law or Halacha -
this was what the culture, at that time was living by -
MARK, (7), gives a very good synopsis of The Lord's opinion about these traditions of men',
WHEN they nullify The Law of God...
as it is written in ISAIAH, (a Kingdom prophecy) -
ISA. 2:3.
And many people shall go and say, Come you, and let us go up to the mountain of The LORD,
to the house of The God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths:
for out of Zion shall go forth the Law, and The Word of The LORD from Jerusalem.

You are so right, in our own strength, we can never keep the 10 commandments law, which embarks the moral law. The ceremonial and sacrificial laws were done away with when Jesus died on the cross. Doing away with the handwritten ordinances by Moses. Without God, we can do nothing, but with God All things are possible! Even the keeping of the 10 commandments. Much blessings...

The handwritten ordinances were the ten commands, handwritten by God in stone, also called the minister of death
