Another awkward moment, but also funny.
Our insurance company every year tried to encourage people to open a special life insurance saving plan for a 10 year bonus builder, which gave you a tax free lump sum after 10 years. This year marketing had decided to use the share holding list for the company as the target mailing list. Unfortunately what they did not know was when a shareholder died, the word deceased was written as the last word on their name reference on the address contact details.
Now being super efficient it was decided that the last word in the name line was taken as their family name.
So the processing went ahead, and the letters sent out.
So a whole group of sad families got a letter, Dear Mr Deceased, Would you like to take out a 10 year bonus builder for your future prosperity etc.
which is so absurd it is funny and truly awkward at the same time.
